this is a really nice, quaint starbucks, just a couple blocks from the heart of downtown menlo park. the outside looks different from your typical cookie-cutter starbucks and the interior has a cozy, warm feeling, something that i don’t get from most starbucks. it was also not crowded at all when i came, with just a few folks sitting with their morning paper, sipping on a cup of coffee, nibbling on a pastry. so why did i come to this location that i never even knew existed until the other day? i wanted to place an online order for pickup at a closer starbucks, but they were temporarily out of stock of the item i wanted, a reduced-fat turkey bacon sammie, so i chose the next closest location, which happened to be this store. i drive past this small shopping center all the time, but have never walked through since there was never a need. as with previous online orders, i walked right up to the pickup counter, bypassing the cashier, and other customers, and found that my order was right there waiting for me. and since a few minutes had passed, the sammie had cooled just slightly to the point where i could eat it without burning my tongue! egg white + turkey bacon + melted cheese on an english muffin = perfect post-workout snack to tie me over until lunchtime. there is a dedicated parking lot to the rear of starbucks, and tons of street parking if this lot is full. you can even park here and just walk a couple blocks to downtown menlo park.

As usual customer service at this location not the greatest. The clerk Deana was rude. I typically avoid this location for this reason.

It’s a Starbucks inside Safeway. If you know what Starbucks is, you know what Starbucks is. If not, what cave have you been living in? Pluses: 1) If you’re already at Safeway, it’s right there. 2) Often a shorter wait at prime times. Minus: Not a good place to sit down and relax with your coffee.
