Our stay at the Sweetwater Inn and Spa was magical! We stayed in the Apple Cottage which was adorable and had a nice deck with chairs where we spent most of our mornings sitting in the sun. There are a couple of nice lawns, trees, and driftwood benches, making the vibe very beachy and laid back. The rooms were spacious and we loved that they offered cable as well as the option to sign in to your Netflix or Amazon Prime account to watch tv as well. The beds were extremely comfortable. There was a reserved parking spot right next to the cottage which made getting our luggage in and out easy. We brought our two large dogs with us, and Sweetwater Inn was more than accommodating! When we checked in they left a basket of towels, blankets and dog treats for the pups in our room. They had flowers on the table and a fire ready to be lit in the woodstove. The room was extremely clean and they even cleaned our room every day we were there. We loved the kitchen in the room that allowed us to cook our own meals. They are right in the middle of town, and only a very short walk to the beach which made getting around easy. They even have a space to hose off your dog after you get back from the beach. Every staff member we ran in to was friendly and extremely helpful. They really made us feel at home and well cared for. There is even a pastry ninja that drops off a basket of assorted pastries every morning at your door. We never saw who was dropping them off, but the basket always showed up at 8:30 am. Overall, we loved how dog friendly they were and how many added bonuses kept popping up the longer we were there. The vibe was laid back and the room was elegant and worth every penny. When we come back to Mendocino, we will definitely be staying at the Sweetwater Inn again. Thank you for making our trip so great!

Stayed for a long weekend in the Apple Cottage. Room was very comfortable and the kitchenette was in good condition. All kitchen items were available: dishes, cooking vessels, utensils, and even a wine opener. Having dedicated parking was also a nice feature. Main room had a nice wood fireplace for heat and mood. Bathroom and bedroom had space heaters which kept things very comfortable. Fresh pastries delivered surreptitiously every morning was definitely a highlight. Hotel is adjacent to the lovely Café Beaujolais, which is a great place to grab an upscale meal. All of downtown Mendocino is easily walkable from the hotel, and Mendocino is a great base to explore the surrounding area(Russian Gulch, Van Damme, Montgomery Wood, Fort Bragg, Point Arena, Anderson Valley, etc.) If you’re travelling from the Bay Area the 101 to 128 is very convenient. Highway 1, as usual, is spectacular when presented with good weather.

Just got back from a two-night stay at Sweetwater with my boyfriend. We stayed in the River Gate room and were very pleased — the room was clean, cozy, and comfortable. It’s not fancy, but the overall effect is homey and cute. I think the mattress may need to be replaced soon, though. It’s not uncomfortable, but it is a bit springy. A coffee maker and electric tea kettle were included, which was nice because I like a good cup of tea before going to bed. I was skeptical that the gas fireplace would warm up our room but it got blazing hot. The room was also very quiet… there’s one room next to it(Rosie’s Room) but we didn’t hear the other person. And although this isn’t a bed-and-breakfast, as they don’t serve breakfast, we still got a lovely basket of two warm muffins(one blueberry, one raisin/bran/carrot) delivered to our doorstep each morning. However, I would like to go on record and say they should BOTH be blueberry, or blueberry and some other flavor, because really, who likes raisins and bran? Not I. :) But I digress… The highlight of our stay was the old school communal hot tub. I especially liked the beautiful stained glass domed skylight above it depicting the moon and stars. Everyone was friendly and nice and we had some good conversations with the other ppl in the tub, too. One thing I would suggest, if the owners have the money, is to put in a cold plunge tub! I love going from the heat of the hot tub to a cold pool and back. So refreshing. Although the nights can be cold enough on their own, I suppose. All in all, I think Sweetwater is well priced for an expensive, touristy place like Mendocino, and especially since you get free use of the hot tub/sauna with the price of your room. I’d definitely love to come back!

Two years ago, to celebrate our anniversary we spent two nights in the Redwood Cottage were wonderful. They thought of every detail. The kitchen was well-furnished. The gas fireplace was both romantic and effective at heating the cottage. Most especially we loved the private deck with the big, sparkling hot tub. Sitting in the hot tub staring up at a milky Milky Way will be a lasting memory. We will be back. We returned to spend 3 nights. Felt like returning home. Everything was even better than we remembered.

Fourth time here and still wonderful. We stayed New Year’s Eve weekend. Fresh muffins delivered to door. We had friends stay at Rosie’s room and overall they enjoyed their stay. Our tub wasn’t as fresh as other times for the first night… but the weather for thise days were great. Many hotels offer breakfast for same price but muffins are great and if you stay in Mendocino you have to try breakfasts in the mornings anyway. Great staff and always the best service at the Inn and the Spa!

I just stayed at the Sweetwater Inn’s Country Suite. What an absolute pleasure! I was surprised by the luxury of having my own parking spot and private entrance right next door to the spa(which I did not utilize, but definitely will on my next visit!) When I got locked out of my cabin, an attendant came right away to let me in(phew!) The room is beautiful, with a luxurious bed and an electric fireplace… a true escape from reality! The ample-sized kitchenette allowed me to forgot eating out. On my final morning, I woke up to a basket of pastries(yum:) I would recommend Sweetwater Inn to anyone in search of a unique, authentic and relaxing Northern California vacation experience.

I’m traveling down the coast to a reunion and feel grateful that I found a dog friendly spot! The staff is very friendly and, as it is available, I had a massage which is wonderful. It’s nice to be able to walk around town and to dinner. Next time I may choose a different room than the Country room as a lot of people walk by the window or sit outside and smoke at the lodge next door. There is also noise upstairs and possible adjacent to the room. It was sweet to have a muffin delivered at the door :) Unilocal mentioned something about calling the 800 number for specials although I am not sure how that works.

I stayed at the Sweetwater Inn and Spa for three nights in June and had a wonderful experience. My wife and two toddlers were very comfortable. My family stayed at our room in the morning while I went diving with some buddies who were staying at the VD campsite just down the road. We stayed in the Apple cottage the first night and felt like it was a home away from home. The staff was very friendly and allowed us to check out 30 minutes late after our first night since my dive trip ran a little late. We moved into the Country Suite later that day when we got back to town and enjoyed it as much as the previous room. All in all we would stay here again. Nice rooms and right in town so everything is in walking range.

We read about Mendocino being a cool little town, but it kind of blew us away when we actually got here. Sweetwater Inn and Spa was the perfect place to stay after driving from the Oregon coast. We had no plans and needed a place to stay for the night. This was the first place we stopped at and we are glad we did. We were lucky enough to get a room in the overnight spa. This room included a private jacuzzi and an in-room sauna. What an amazing surprise to find that it was vacant and super affordable for a young, on-a-budget couple like us. Kelly at the front office was super helpful, accommodating and friendly. We got in to town at 8:45 and she was about to close, but she hooked it up and was willing to stay to get the room ready for us. We are so thankful for Kelly, and the Sweetwater Inn & Spa! Definitely recommend this place and the awesome town of Mendocino for a romantic weekend getaway.

My fiancé and I come here every year. We stayed at the Mendocino View West room last month and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend getting a room with a tub! We have used the tub/sauna combo at the spa as well, but I like being able to use the tub at my own convenience. There was one time we arrived late. A key and a note were left for us with clear directions on how to find our cottage. They also have pet-friendly rooms for when we want to bring the dog.

We just spent our 2nd wedding anniversary there. We stayed in the Rosie Room and arrived late Friday night from Sacramento. The key was hanging in the lobby with a note. Our room was upstairs and the minute we opened the door we were happy. A comfortable queen bed, and sitting area with gas fireplace. Me and my wife slept until 7:30, it is so quiet here. All the shops, restaurants, beach, and hiking trails are within easy walking distance of the inn. We booked massages and enjoyed a private hot tub room. The staff when they found out it was our anniversary, left heart shaped chocolates and a personal card on our bed. The prices are reasonable for rooms and spa, and we have already begun to think of our next trip back. To top off the weekend we were hiking along the seaside cliff trails and saw a pod of humpback whales 50 yards from shore.

Me and husband stayed this weekend in the redwood cottage. This place was amazing! !! I cannot begin to describe how much we loved it here… everything was perfect. Very secluded, about a mile away from village, easy to find. The hot tub was amazing, room décor was beautiful. We had massages too, mine was done by daryl, and it was perfect.perfect. the bed in the cabin was very very cozy and comfortable. We promise to visit every year, this will be our new home away from home. I loved everything about this place. Please go and stay here, it will be worth it. We couldn’t of had a better time, very relaxing, lots of whale watching, they even left a bottle of wine and homemade danishes for my 30th birthday. Perfect for small families, perfect for couples. I cant wait to go back.

I will start my review by saying that we loved our choice for our first time stay in Mendo as a little mini-moon after our wedding. The staff was friendly and available during the day for us. I have a few minor critiques only because I would have wanted to know these things before our stay. 1. The hot tubs at the spa were great and it was so nice that we were able to go for a private soak, just the two of us. However, our massages were not inexpensive and I felt that it wasn’t that great of an actual massage. The power went out, but that was out of their control so they did give us longer time, but I was ready to finish my massage after an hour anyways. I probably would have booked the spa elsewhere. 2. We arrived late at night and were a little confused as to where our room was. It may have been helpful if we had called prior to arriving, but we spent some time looking around the property in the dark which was sketchy. Overall, the room had a cute fireplace and a great view of the ocean. I would definitely recommend the inn portion of this place.

This is my fourth or fifth time staying here over the last 10 years and it never fails to disappoint. This time my boyfriend and I stayed in the Garden Cottage with our two little dogs. It was excellent as usual! The service was great; my dog kept trying to escape under the door in the backyard and the owners helped block it off so we could relax and let them roam free. We brought most of our own food and cooked in the fairly well stocked kitchen so we didn’t have to deal with anyone. As always a great experience.

We couldn’t have had a better weekend. The Redwood Cabin was absolutely lovely; both beautiful and cozy. We loved the hot tub, use of the kitchen, and the wonderfully comfortable bed. It was so nice to be able to walk around downtown and also take a quick drive to local attractions in Fort Bragg, etc .The staff was amazing and friendly, and put together the most amazing wine basket for our arrival. We’ve already made another set of reservations — we can’t wait to be back!

Went here for the weekend with my boyfriend. Stayed in Rosie’s room. It was a cute little room with a comfortable bed, good coffee, and liquid soap(I hate using bar soap)! The hot tub was fun, met some nice local people. There is a trail right across the street to a great beach. I definitely recommend staying here, had a wonderful weekend!

Amazing! That is all that I can say!!! Hubby and I walked to grocery store for produce and cooked at the cottage for all of our stay there. There is also a hidden pathway behind the church across, which leads to the shore!:)

The hubby and I took a random trip up to Mendocino. Decided we are moving up here! After stoping at a couple bed and breakfasts to check prices, we found the Sweetwater Inn, which is adorable and super comfortable. We are staying in the Sears Tower. It’s cute, has a kitchen, two beds, tv, fireplace, and total privacy! Owners are sweet and very helpful. Totally coming back!

Loved our one night stay in the Sweetwater Tower! It felt like we were in a tree house! Loved sitting outside on the porch with my boyfriend and just talking and sipping wine. Note: this unit has a shared restroom downstairs but is cleaned and private after hours(9pm-opening around 11 i think). However it’s tiny! Seriously midget size and doesn’t offer much privacy. We enjoyed the private after-hours hot tub, sauna, and outdoor shower. Was exquisite. Great hospitality from check in to check out. Minus one star for ants in our room :’(i know we’re in the middle of nature, but i still don’t like ants indoors with me. I woke up to find an entire family in one of my bags(of clothes). And a dead one in my book :/and they’re decent sized too. That’s really the only thing I didn’t like.
