I stopped by the shop in March and had a nice time and a nice taste of hot chocolate. It was so good I bought the stuff to make it for the holidays. Now is the time and I can’t find where I put the recipe they gave me. I just tried calling and found out the shop closed a few months back. If anyone knows how to make the hot chocolate I am speaking of PLEASE, let me know thanks

I cannot believe I was trolled on Unilocal, I have never ever had anyone message me and tell me my review was wrong and that I should not have felt that way! It was all just so weird… I did suggest that since she had the time to contact me, that perhaps she should write a nice review for the business since she had a good experience. I was there over a year ago for my anniversary. I kind of got the feeling that perhaps she is related to the owner, I mean why would anyone do that? either way I blocked her and will report her(Genevieve) to Unilocal if she continues, I am glad she took the time to do her review of the chocolate shop and ME… LOL We did love the chocolates as I stated in my previous review!

I stop there every time I go to Mendocino and it is always a great experience. The owner makes me taste any chocolate I want to try. He always has a big smile and his knowledge about chocolate is great! Linda made a bad review about this guy. Well… if you are rude, like she was to me, when she wrote tome directly, telling me that my city was a crappy city to live in… well may be the guy was rude to her… you deserve what you deserves after all… The guy is not rude at all. He only wants you to have the best experience with chocolate for your money. Really .stop by his shop and you wil see by yourself what a great guy he is in every sens of the word. But be quick. he is going to move to a different location to be able to still afford his best price on chocolate. Mendocino is raising the rental prices… Linda…sorry for your bad experience… but don’t tell me that I am a troll and don’t criticize my life without knowing me personally.

This is the perfect place for a chocoholic! When we walked in, we were greeted by one of the proprietors(Eric). His excitement and energy in talking about everything chocolate were both inspiring and infectious… We went in to browse and ended up spending over $ 100.00 and no regrets! Great customer service. Great chocolate. Great waffles. Don’t spend time in Mendocino without stopping by this place!

Second time we have stopped by and the owners are always very kind and allowing us to sample all their chocolate. We will always make out stop here when we’re in mendo. Thanks.

Enjoyed our stop into the chocolate shop. The owner was making and sharing hot chocolate«the way they drink it in Europe» was what he said. It definitely did remind me of the hot chocolate I had in Madrid — not really the way I like my hot chocolate, but it was fun to be invited into an experience the moment you come through the door. The owner is very passionate and knowledgeable about the products he carries. We did buy a few things, yes, it’s a bit pricey, but we were happy with our purchases and glad we stopped in.

This is a must stop for chocolate lovers. As a Belgian, Eric definitely knows his chocolate and his shop is stocked with some of the best that Belgium has to offer. My partner, who was raised in Belgium, was delighted to find some childhood favorites, like Cote D’ Or and I definitely found some delicious treats myself. Eric and his wife are very, very friendly and were very helpful in answering questions and helping to direct you to products that suit your taste. We loved the hot chocolate that greeted us upon entry.

If you like chocolate and are in Mendocino, this is a must stop. Eric has some of the best chocolate products available. We especially enjoyed the chocolate amaretto sauce and the caramel sauce. The orange cayenne is just one of many marzipans available. The shoppe is puppy friendly too.

The store was stocked well with good chocolates. They do accept credit cards too.

I agree fully with the previous review. When we stopped in last Monday, almost all chocolate was sold out, but my son still managed to find a «car badge» he wanted. I overheard the shop man telling another customer that he gets all his chocolates from Belgium, and was waiting for a shipment. He was kind enough to explain to us that a majority of Mendo does not accept credit cards, his store included unless the amount is over $ 20. And I can see how someone would easily be able to spend over $ 20 on chocolates in his shop!

I created this location on Unilocal!Which leads me to believe the Belgian Chocolate Shoppe is relatively new to the Mendocino area. It’s one of those little shops that can’t decide what it is. When you make your way back between two larger shops and into the store, you are immediately pulled in two directions. To the right is a small display of chocolates and desserts. To the left(and spilling out over half the store) is a miscellaneous collection of ‘autobahn’ and automobile memorabilia. Some if for show, some is for sale. Ultimately my concern is that the car stuff overwhelms the sense of a «Belgian Chocolate Shoppe» that one might conjure up in their mind as they wander back into towards the store.
