Unless you are a «regular», don’t go there!!! The menu isn’t what the website says. Minimal drink selection and unfriendly staff. I rarely give a bad review!

Dimly lit club/lounge space. The drinks arent expensive which is a plus. The music is loud and it can get crowded. There arent a lot of seats so on crowded nights its standing room only.

This was an interesting experience for me. I was in town for the Christmas holiday season and stopped in with some friends. It amazed me how difficult it was to get bar service. My friend tried order the same round of drinks 3 times before she eventually gave up. When one of my friends was a bit beyond sober, we tried to get him water. After asking the same bartender for a glass of water twice, he told me «I’ll get to you once I make a few more drinks.»(The guy’s name was Jason) I’ve never heard anything like that in my life. Mind you, there weren’t people clamoring for his attention. He was actively soliciting people trying to garner drink orders. Overall, it’s just weird. I never thought it would be more difficult to get drinks here than where I live(New York City).

This place is gross with a total ass hat working the door the last time we went. Packed on Saturday nights with a dance club feel. To each their own. Not my kinda place.

Great place! I am here with my friend and Soror and we are having a blast! She has been here countless times but it’s my first time here! I like the older dance music, it’s so refreshing! Saturday night live at this place! The place is well kept and clean for the large amount of people! I think people truly love this place, especially me! I will be back hopefully next week!!!

Silly Goose has been around for awhile and its one of those places where it can become a party and a casual dining experience. I’ve frequented several times on wknds to wkdys. On the weekends you’ll get a younger and more amped crowd that wants to dance the night away and have a drink. They serve food as well and are quite tasty. I’ve had their pizzas and it has been on point. Its a cool place to hangout if you want to stay away from Beale St.

I like this place. It’s a dark on the inside but they have an outdoor patio with heaters. Nice wood furniture with comfortable seating. A few TVs inside. This bar seem to be very laid back and the bartender was very nice! I would definitely would return.

Not a fan of this place. We’ve been several times, and it’s always so crowded you can’t move. Maybe it’s just not our«cup of tea.» There are a lot of other places I would rather go! To each their own! :)

This is one of the best bars in Memphis, mainly of you are looking for a somewhat upscale joint this is a spot. I’m from Miami, and I like a certain level of professionalism and class to my alcoholic tendencies… The one has both. If you get an Old Fashion or a Moscow Mule, it’s made to perfection. Besides the nice eye candy here, the music(for Memphis), the atmosphere, and style… Is all top notch. Say hi to Boba when you walk in… and maybe he will let you in free. Cheers!

In getting around to writing this review, my intention was to continue with the«Finally!» theme that I started last May with my overdue review of Las Delicias. The reason for the theme is to highlight some of my favorite dishes and restaurants that I’ve neglected in my four years of blogging. Near the top of the list is The Silly Goose’s Steak On The Stone(if that’s not the proper name, please correct me), consisting of a raw steak(or chicken) and a hot stone to cook it with. This method of serving steak was very unique when compared to other Downtown Memphis restaurants(notwithstanding the former Butcher Shop) and something that I really wanted to try. Unfortunately, my past financial predicament prevented me from indulging in the sizzle of the stone(I’m currently not doing much better). Because of that, I waited too long for something that The Silly Goose no longer has. Upon finding this out from the bartender(the lovely Jessica), I was sadly disappointed. After accepting the news, I was at a loss as to what to order. With steak off the menu, I was left with choices of appetizers from Silly Goose’s menu. Not satisfied with my options, I considered scrapping the review because I didn’t feel that the Goose had anything worth writing about. Of course, I was proven wrong about that after I tasted some of the items from Silly Goose’s menu. The first thing that I want to talk about is something that had this week, as opposed to my initial«official» visit. Among Silly Goose’s better menu items is the Thai Meatballs that my friend and drinking buddy, John D., recommended to me. Immersed in a savory broth, the meatballs didn’t have any of the Asian flavors that I’m familiar with, but it was very good nonetheless. The broth had a bit of spiciness in it and bolstered with slivers of red peppers and shredded cheese(Mozzarella?) that contributed mightily to the appetizer. Even without the meatballs, the broth(along with damn near a loaf of fresh baked pita bread) makes for a tasty snack to have while chilling at the bar. Of course, this is far from a full meal for most, but not many go to The Silly Goose for dinner. For an appetizer, the Thai Meatballs is one of the better dishes served in Downtown Memphis. I want to give thanks to my main man for hipping me to it. Getting back to my first«official» visit for this review, I want to mention something that Jessica suggested. She recommended the tacos with chorizo, chicken and goat cheese, a modest appetizer for snacking before dinner(which I eventually got at The Majestic Grille, located around the corner(on Main St.) from the bar). The chorizo and cheese(along with the avocado) really stood out in the tacos, even after adding lettuce and tomatoes in them. The tortillas wrapping the tacos were slightly crunchy and held everything together, making for an overall good experience. By the way, if you order the tacos or any other appetizer during Happy Hour(4 p.m. — 8 p.m.), the cost is about $ 3 less than the listed menu price. With a deal like that, I will take advantage of it whenever I can. I want to thank Jessica for suggesting the tacos and being an all-around great bartender and server. I have known Jessica(a former Flying Saucer Girl) for a few years and she is one of friendliest servers working in Downtown Memphis. A woman with a lot of sex appeal, she is always a sight to see whenever I visit The Silly Goose. Of course, I’m not the only guy who feels this way, for she has a small legion of fans(including a douchebag who I will talk about later) who keeps her busy whenever she’s bartending. I appreciate everything she does(such as hooking me up with some delicious pizza… errr flatbread slices) and I hope to see more of her in the future. Jessica is one of the many reasons to visit The Silly Goose. Known more as a nightclub, the bar is a popular hangout on the weekends for people who love to party. Personally, I’m trying to get away from the party scene but I get down occasionally whenever one of my friends is celebrating something special. The décor and atmosphere of the Goose is very casual, with couches and an outdoor patio for those who really want to chill out. Also, The Silly Goose has an excellent staff of servers and bartenders who are very professional and, well(at least for the ladies), HOT. All of it stems from the mastermind who pulls the strings, owner Daniel Masters. A gracious host to me throughout years, he is a cool guy who I hope has much success with his bar/nightclub. Because of these reasons, I will always be a loyal patron of The Silly Goose. To read my full review, including a serious yet humorous(in the style of South Park) take on what one of my «fans» should do to overcome his anxiety over me, go to . You’ll also see pictures of the food I had and nice shots of Jessica.

Silly Goose should never be on your list of venues to check out in the Beale Street area or anywhere period. If there was something below poor on the rating scale, I would choose the lowest ranking past poor made available. Last night I went to Silly Goose with my wife, brother and sister-in-law as we started our night on Beale Street. In my world travels and recent excursions in the Memphis area, I have never had such a terrible experience in my life. When going out on a summer Saturday night with great weather, you expect to have crowded establishments with lively people and the mindset to deal with certain experiences that come along with the atmosphere and the employee-to-client ratio. However, what was experienced at Silly Goose was absolutely inexcusable and showed a complete lack of customer service. Extremely long wait times for drinks at the bar after we were told we had to get our own drinks from the bar despite having table service on the veranda/patio. Bartenders did not acknowledge our presence after a 30 minute wait upon which we decided to get our card and cash out. Even then we had to get a manager’s attention who was no better. He gave many excuses and could care less what we were telling him. You are a Silly Goose if you ever want to have a good time on a busy Beale Street night. I would never recommend attending this venue ever, and especially never attending on a busy night. DONOT waste your time. DONOT waste your money. DONOT waste your fun and cheer. DONOTGOTOSILLYGOOSE… PERIOD.

Saturday night: it’s a nice place to grab drinks and converse with friends or strangers. Not the best prices on alcohol, and a limited menu after 10p. They charge a cover after a certain time, which I could understand for a club but this is more of a glorified bar. They could also uses a little more diversity in the playlist, the DJ should be able to take the queues from the crowd on what they want to hear more of. Overall, a fun night once the drinks/shots started flowing freely(that makes most things fun)!

Popped in for a quick drink before heading home and it seems like a great place to get together with some friends before or after an evening downtown. They had a handful of TVs showing the game and some nice seating areas. They also made me the best Old Fashion I’ve had to date. Drink prices were on par with what you would expect downtown. I may have a new happy hour destination after work.

I’m updating my review. I will no longer visit this place and will take my business elsewhere. They have become extremely stingy with their liquor pours and one of their bartenders(Jeff I believe is his name) is extremely rude and a real jerk. After going to this place for a while I noticed that the drinks were becoming more watered down. I asked the bartender for a bourbon drink straight up with a side glass of ice. This guy poured the smallest glass of Bourbon I’ve ever had in my life. When I received the glass I basically laughed because I thought it was a joke. Instead of being rude about it and making a fuss at such a small pour, I asked that he take the drink back and just give me a beer as nicely as I could and apologized for the inconvenience. I guess he didn’t like that too much and took an extremely negative attitude and began talking in a very condescending tone towards me. I became upset because I asked nicely and I still patronized the bar services by ordering another drink(beer). He began to curse and get loud, totally unprofessional and rude. I took my beer to the patio and I never saw him again until when I left. Because of this experience, I will never visit Silly Goose again and will continue to inform people of how bad this place has turned in to. Terrible drinks, awful service, and horrible price for their drinks.

We had a horrible experience at Silly Goose. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the weather and comfortable seating. With the Bruno Mars concert looming, SG was the only place that didn’t have a wait in the area. With the place basically empty, our waitress came over and took our orders quickly. We got our drinks at different times and had to ask for water 3 times. My boyfriend’s food order never showed up and neither did our waitress after she dropped off our first drinks. A friend asked another waitress walking by if she could help us because we wanted to order more drinks and inquired about the food. She shrugged us off and said our waitress wasn’t busy and she would send her. Again, we waited and no waitress… not even to see if we wanted to pay so we could leave! The second waitress came back and, with a major attitude, took the orders of those that wanted to order more. My boyfriend and I had enough after this and I closed out so we could leave. Oh, his food, we still never got it and after canceling it two hours after ordering it, she snapped, «well our kitchen is backed up if you’d just give them time!» Remember I said the place was empty… right. I’ll never go back to Silly Goose.

The other night, I was told to show up to the Silly Goose. I did not ask questions, I just ended up going. Of all of the times I have driven around downtown, I knew I had seen it before. But with a name like that, I was expecting an everyday sports bar. I was coming from Rendezvous, which was only a few blocks away. Not too hard to find, RIGHT? After going down every alley, I finally found it. This place looked nice! I mean, I just got out of dinosaur pajamas so I was wearing gym shorts, a t-shirt, and a hoodie. I fit in like a hipster at a church service, but I didn’t even care. For a Thurs. night, there was a $ 10 cover– they said it was for breast cancer stuff. I was fresh out of cash– but thankfully there was an ATM at the same corner. So I came back and paid, and met up with the group. It looked like a dance club/bar, but our table was right up front– so I had a decent view of what was coming in/out that night. It took a while for the waitress to come, so I kept getting double fisters. I guess she didn’t realize I like to drink. I had no idea they had food either, or what kind, so when food was ordered, I was curious to see what was coming. Have you ever seen National Lampoons Vegas Vacation when they go to the uncle’s trailer in the middle of nowhere and they start cooking steaks on the rock? One of the dishes brought me back to that scene. They brought out a hot rock and you get to cook chicken on it. For a restaurant turned dance club in the evening, I am not sure about all that noise. I had to move my car from the lot I was in(and stopped at the Peabody for a quick julep) so the gate wouldn’t close, and when I came back, thankfully I didn’t have to pay cover again. I got to meet some cool people and drink with them for a while. We were on the patio, which I won’t lie, is very nice, and has a great view. I would say the patio was my favorite part of the place. I also appreciated the restrooms, as the were labeled«Sausage»(for the men) and«Eggs»(for the women). They were a decent size with dark colors and an xcelerator hand dryer. When the waitress saw I came back, she was quicker with the drinks this time. There was an attractive crowd, and the building itself is nice, but I think there is just too much going on that needs to be scaled back(only my opinion) some. Paying cover on a Thursday night, thats a bad deal in my book. I don’t even pay covers at strip clubs on a Saturday night!

The layout is nifty and the food was tasty. But something got burned in the kitchen and the entire place filled with smoke and my eyes were on fire. Not having proper ventilation is enough to turn me off.

An important thing to know about Silly Goose is that it has many identities. On most nights, it is a swanky atmosphere for a casual hang out. Thursday nights are hilarious trivia nights. Saturdays, the bar might as well be ON Beale St, given the crowd that comes out. And during the daytime, it’s great spot to sneak a drink with lunch, or sit on their porch for a drink with your dog. Aside from trivia night, Saturday and Sunday morning/afternoons are my very favorite. You can get $ 5(I think that’s right.) mimosas or bloody marys, made to your liking with ingredients from their open bloody mary bar! They give you a tall glass with vodka in the bottom and you add anything you’ve ever wanted in a bloody mary. They have 3 kinds of V8, 5 hot sauces, celery, carrots, peppers– whatever you need to make your ideal drink. I like experimenting with mine; making them a little different or more abrasive every time. Food wise, their hummus is good and they have an occasional omelet bar. Their flatbreads also get a lot of praise.
