1st time in. Attractive atmosphere. The menu revealed that thier meat patties come from Charlie’s Meat Market, a childhood favorite of mine and Memphis icon. Wilson was our server. She was amazing. On her suggestion, I had the Sunday burger. It was very good. I will be back in Wilson’s section for more burgers.

So today was the Mrs and I, first time here. She ordered the 3 macs while I ordered a double cheeseburger with jalapeño and loaded fries. We also started with an appetizer of boom boom shrimp. The boom boom shrimp sat on a bed of well seasoned fries. The sauce that the shrimp were drenched in was delectable. Not too spicy at all. The combination of flavor from the shrimp and fries was great also. My wife’s 3 Macs were ok. She had the Memphis NOLA, and buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. Her macs were just ok maybe a 3⁄5. My double cheeseburger was cool. Maybe a 3⁄5 also. The waitress named Wilson was great and very attentive. Overall though decent and affordable place to eat. It gives you that bar vibe/family atmosphere.

Giving it three because I like the band playing, however, the wait staff is non attentive. Disappeared for long periods of time. Bartender was not friendly and food was hit or miss. I have tried the place twice… not sure I can do a third time. Manager should train staff better. Tables not got cleaned, customers had to keep looking for their waiters.

I was in disbelief at how good this food really was. I’m not a fan of pasta. But the types of macaroni here will surely put me in fan club for macaroni. The last time I went I had the Macaroni Egg Rolls as an appetizer which were surprisingly good with the trio dish of different macaroni flavorsas my entrée. Buffalo. White chicken. New Orleans. All three were great. My favorite was the New Orleans. I like the Buffalo chicken but next time I will not get as much blue cheese

Omg! My fiancé and I are always trying out new burgers because we love them and when we find out about a new place, we go. From the service to the food and the frozen lemonade we tried. A+ The only reason I didn’t give this restaurant 5 stars is because of the sticky floor and dirty tables when we arrived. Not sure who’s responsible for busting tables and mopping but that could be a little better. But back to the food. This place by far had the best Mac & cheese ever! The flavor of the meats in the macs for the pulled pork, shrimp and chicken was amazing!!! The meat in our burgers weren’t heavy like your normal ground beef from other places and everything was so tender. In all I would give them 4.5 stars if I could. The sticky floor and after a wipe down of our table we were fine and in heaven.

Omg goodness! Talk about cheesy, greasy goodness! I absolutely love Mac and Cheese and throw burgers into the mix and I’m in heaven. With a variety of both at Mac’s you can’t go wrong! I tried the Boom Boom Shrimp and the Mac and Cheese trio. So good. Tried my friends burger and it was delicious as well. I’ll be getting my own next time. ;) Try this place out!

I like what they’ve done with the place in its transformation from Dan McGuiness Pub to Mac’s. The place has nice ambiance and they retained the huge brick fireplace. I ordered the Mac’s Trio, which gives you the option of choosing three of 13 Mac meals). The trio portion sizes are small, not tiny, but small. They’re adequate though. My trio consisted of Mac and Cheesesteak, Smoked Chicken White Cheddar, and Boom Boom Shrimp. All of the meat was served over white cheddar mac. I was with a large group so I’ll pardon the lukewarmness of my food. I enjoyed it but I think it would have better if it were piping hot. My favorite of the meats was the smoked chicken. I thought the Boom Boom Shrimp had too much of a mayonnaise taste. The mac and cheese was ‘just ok’. Overall it was ok but I was not wowed. I may go back again and try one of the burgers.

I wanted to love this place, really I did, but it just didn’t happen. The barkeep was also our waitress and when we got there there were only 2 people at the bar and one other table. I suppose that was a rush for her, because she took quite a long time to come over so we had our full order ready when she finally came up. She didn’t write anything down which I despise in waitressing(I’ve waited tables myself and think it’s not a good idea because no matter how«great» you think you are, mistakes happen). She didn’t ask how we want our burger cooked, if we wanted anything additional or if we wanted to take anything off. Also, she was super short with us and rushed and just seemed like she didn’t want to be there; so, just not good service, in my book. The burger patties resembled store bough, paper thin crap. They very EXTREMELY greasy, swimming in grease almost, and everything was falling out everywhere. The bun was greasy too and hard to hold. It just wasn’t a good meal. Oh. The fries we decent, but pretty salty. The fountain Coke was good too. Anyway, if you want a great Memphis burger, this isn’t the place. Pretty rude and not anything special in terms of food.

After hearing good things about Mac’s from friends my wife and I had been looking for the opportunity to try it out. On a Friday night after the Broad St. Art Walk we got on the Mac’s website and seeing that they were open til 11pm we headed that way. We walked in at 9:50pm confirming on the sign at the door they were open til 11pm. We stood at the hostess stand for a couple minutes saw only 1 employee, the bartender(?), with 5 patrons at the the bar actively not looking our way. The only tables occupied were past the bar and near the back so we took it apon ourselves to sit at a tall able right across from open stools at the bar. We looked over the table menus and waited another 10 minutes never seeing another employee, the bartender busying herself with the couple tables at the back and continuing to not look our way. Another couple came in the front door an waited to be seated. A few minute passed and a waitress(?) came out of the kitchen and began talking with the couple. After a quick exchange the couple pointed back out the front door, the waitress went outside, returned, and apparently informed them that she was going to refuse them service. The couple quietly protested, the waitress stood firm, the couple left and the waitress returned to the kitchen. All the while the bartender ignored anything outside her arms reach. By this time it was 10:15 pm and we’d got the message, «get out, we closed early ». We left without having the slightest contact with any staff. With all the other options around that part of Memphis I can’t imagine bothering to give Mac’s another try.

The fries were good, oh and the fried onion rings that they only put on burgers were delicious. They need to sell those as an appetizer. Everything else was just okay or not good. The burger patty was thin, dry, over cooked and was absent of flavor. The egg rolls were huge, bland and greasy. We got the mac trio: mushroom, goat cheese mac –was ok; Memphis mac with sausage, slaw, pork and bbq sauce — sauce was good; and the loaded mac with bacon sour cream — bland but bacon was ok(bacon is always a good thing). The problem is that they use the same bland, overcooked mac and cheese for all the mac and cheeses, then just top it with mushrooms, or bbq, or a chicken tender :-/. Essentially, you are just selecting toppings for your mac, nothing is infused. The service was great and everyone was friendly, but the food is just not that great. If you are going to have a burger and mac restaurant, you must ensure the burgers are great and the mac is outstanding…

Tonight was our first time to the restaurant, and we will never go back. My husband ordered the chicken tenders and macaroni and cheese. The chicken was over cooked and the macaroni was watery and flavorless. I ordered a burger and the bun was very dry and hard to cut through. We sat at the bar, and neither one of the bartenders checked on us after we received our food. We were very disappointed in the quality of service and the preconception that this would be a great burger joint.

Great burger at a great price during lunch. BESURE to ask for the lunch special price. It’s not advertised or on the menu. I could stand for a bit more fries. Fast, friendly service. Loud inside at lunch. Looks great inside since the renovation after Dan McGuiness closed. Will return.

I’m not sure what has changed here but for a place that has only been open for a few weeks they sure have fallen off their game. The food is still very good but the cocktails are not the same. We were served Bloody Mary’s in a short glass and it was more plain tomato juice than anything. I asked for the Arnold Palmer Freeze, and she told me it was also in a short glass! I asked for the same size as I had previously and she said she would try. When it arrived it was not frozen at all. I believe the«bartender» is not really a bartender at all. This is surprising from a place that is owned and operated by a group that made its name in the bar business. Thankfully out server took the drink back and tried everything in her power to make sure we were happy. We will give this place a try, but it would be better if you got your bar/cocktails back on track, especially for the prices on the alleged cocktails.

I love mac and cheese so I was excited when I heard Memphis was getting a gourmet Mac and cheese bar. I visited on a Saturday night. I was meeting someone and was promptly seated upon arrival. Mario was my waiter and greeted me almost immediately upon arrival and gave me the lowdown on what Mac’s had to offer. He returned promptly when the rest of my party arrived. I ordered the Mac trio of blackened chicken, loaded mac and bratwurst mac(not actual mac name). The serving size was just right. All macs were good, but not great. The interior was open and spacious with were plenty of televisions that would make this a great place to catch a game. There was a faint odor of cigarette smoke. The service here was 4 stars and the food 3 stars. I would try Mac’s again.

A revisit with my daughter and it was more disappointing than my first. We ordered the sausage/cheese plate which includes fried pickles. The pickles were very small slices and mundane. The sausage was so salty I couldn’t eat it and I am a salt fanatic. The cheese was well, just that. Small cubes and average. I built my own burger. Simple, double patties as they are very thin, with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayonnaise. Produce was fresh. Mayo was served in a packet. A pet peeve of mine. Serve me a better quality mayo. The burger was very bland. The bun I raved about in my first review fell short. First visit the bun was buttered and toasted, this time seemed straight out of the bag. My daughter had the Honky Tonk burger. She said it was just okay. Cheese plate, two burgers, one beer, one water = $ 41.00 before tip. Wow! I was hoping for better from Mac’s.

We like the re-vamping that took this once dank space to a new lighter entity. The menu concept is good, but, of course, everyone has an opinion on what could make it better. Here’s my take. I ordered a salad because I’m on a healthyish spree. I like that there is a basic good salad mix that includes lettuce, spinach, cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. To this I would definitely add onions and anything else they choose. To the base salad they offer many add ons including chicken, shrimp, and salmon. I chose the add on of cheese(blue, goat or cheddar) for $ 2. The salad was large for the $ 4.95 price, but I didn’t think there was $ 2 worth of goat cheese added The spouse is a mac n cheese officianado. He tried the grilled chicken version. It appeared to be a smallish portion for $ 10.50(how much does pasta cost?). I tasted it and thought it had great flavor, but it was not the hard-on-top with mounds of broiled cheese type that the spouse likes. As for the burgers they do offer a salmon version, but it would be great if they also offered chicken and veggie. Just my opinion

Lord lord lord is all I can say. One of the best burger spots I have had here in Memphis. I don’t understand some of the bad reviews that are on Unilocal about this place. Must have been a bad day for them. I must say everything was excellent. The burgers are well seasoned and you can actually taste the burger. I had the Sunday Double meat Burger. The burgers are then so I would recommend getting the double meat. It was fully of bacon and the egg was cooked just like I like it. I will be back

Having heard great things about this place, I was excited when we were going to have a family celebration there. They don’t take reservations, so we knew there would be a wait for a large party(13 people). The wait was about half an hour Once we were seated, the fun began. We had separate checks with people sitting all over. Our waitress handled that well. The kids’ food cane out first, which is good. The rest was somewhat haphazard. Consensus was the food was good, not great. Portions were decent. Love the variety of options for burgers and mac and cheese. Our waitress vacillated between being attentive and absent. Overall I would go back with a smaller group

I don’t write many bad reviews. If I were to just rate in my own plate, which is the Honky Tonk with a side mac, I would give it 3 stars. The problem is that I came here with other folks, and one is Doug F, who was served a bad salad. Like him, I would have sent that back too. Mac’s Burger needs to learn how to not let things out of the kitchen when necessary. So my friend is sitting there without any food. No manager or chef came to even apologize or anything. It’s kind of hard for me to enjoy my own food. Our waitress felt so embarrassed that she hardly came back to our table after that. So I have to dock points off for service. As for my Honky Tonk Burger itself, I enjoyed the pork shoulder in it. The coleslaw was pretty good too. The two slices of sausages was okay. The BBQ sauce is great. The bun is covered in grease, but it is a good bun. The issue is the beef patty. The patty was not just dry but also burnt on the edges. The patty’s consistency is almost like a bigger thicker McDonald’s patty. So I’m not a fan of the beef patty here. And for the rest of us who actually had food here, we all seem to agree that the patties are just not good. As for the mac and cheese, the noodles were soggy. I like my mac to be al dente. And the cheese sauce was also disappointing. My other friend, a chef, joked that hamburger helper tastes better(I’d be surprised if he had ever tasted hamburger helper). I wouldn’t go so far to say that, but I don’t see myself substituting the fries with a mac at an additional $ 2 again.(The fries was actually pretty good. I took it off another friend’s plate.) At $ 15 after tax, I’d rather go elsewhere. We just recently had the Unilocal Burger Week, so I had the opportunity to try a lot of good burgers. If I want a good BBQ burger with a side of mac, I’d go to Blind Bear. And, if I’m in this same neighborhood, I’d probably go to Ciao Bella. P. S. The sound echos quite a bit at this place. They need something soft on the walls, or ceiling or something to dampen it.

I heard about this place on Choose901 so I gave it a try. The place looks dull on the inside. Not paintings. No wacky stuff on the wall. Just TVs. The service was… blah. However, the mac and cheese was pretty good. [Note: They don’t use elbow pasta. They use cavatappi. A bigger noodle that holds cheese better] I had the 3 macs for 12.95. The blackened chicken and Southern Fried macs were good. I loved the Loaded Mac. Also, they don’t bake their mac and cheese. They are a cheese sauce and noodles type. Overall, good food but in a dull environment. They need to work on their service as well.

I ordered the Southern Belle burger which is topped with pimento cheese and fried green tomatoes. It was definitely a unique combination and tasked okay… nothing great. They serve each burger with fries but allow you to substitute them with the mac and cheese. I went with the fries and they are good! You are offered three portion sizes when you order: small = 1 patty, medium = 2 patties and large = you guessed it…3 patties! The service and atmosphere both get a thumbs up. The price point is in line with all the other burger joints at lunch(approx. 10 bucks for a single with fries and water). I do wish they had a few more appetizer options to offer. The menu seems a little limited for me. However, I will be back to try a few more of the burger options since there were some unique ones to try. Also, the patio area is nice and will be another great option when the weather gets a little more bearable.
