Gift and Art Shop

This little shop reminds me a lot of Babcock Gifts. Though I am not a big fan of the things inside the store (nor do I like Babcock’s selection– just not my cup of tea) I will say I would go here 10 times over before stepping foot in Babcock again.
Why? For three very distinct reasons.
1) The staff. The staff here is extremely helpful, but not in that «I’m going to follow your every move and watch you like a hawk» kind of way. They are friendly and down to earth, while Babcock’s staff felt much more uppity to me.
2) The prices tend to be cheaper than that of Babcock, and if you can get a similar item for less, why the hell not folks?
3) The décor. This place is much less ostentatious than Babcock. In fact, if you blink you’ll miss it. It’s very close to Babcock on Poplar, but much less ritzy and more vintage-​y feeling. It looks more like a Bohemian craft store than a place you can purchase fine china.
Bottom line, if you are thinking of making a Babcock purchase, try this place out first. It can’t hurt, and you just may like what you find.

The staff is so pleasant and helpful, topping off the shopping experience on a high note.

What a treasure! I can not believe I had never noticed this little gift shop before. They have every day dishes, china, and other housewares and gifts. Everything is very unique and beautiful. The staff shines — what I mean is that even though this could be considered a high end shop, the staff is far from snooty or overbearing. Quite the contrary! I was free to roam and look — no pressure to buy, but then again they were there to answer any question I might have had. I suppose this is why they have been in business for over 50 years.
