Cafe Vien Dong

by far the best place for a hot bowl of PHO! My bf and i agree after trying all 5 vietnamese restaurants in memphis. Their food is very very tasty.

This is an interesting place. First off, when I went, we were the only table there. Normally this is an awful experience, but the place was so big and spread out that our table off to the side actually felt kind of private. And the waiter left us alone except for when we need something-​in my mind that is the highest compliment you can give a waiter. I got the combo vermicelli. It was quite good. In fact, every individual ingredient was great. The pork was incredible. The fish sauce seemed good. It had an amazing leafy herb that was not mint but was wonderful. Despite all this I did not feel the dish came together. I really cannot say what was lacking but I am looking forward to eating it again. I cannot say that it was a great experience or amazing food but it was intriguing and I think that anyone who eats a lot of Vietnamese food in Memphis should give it a try. It is definitely worth a that.
