Aldo’s Pizza Pies

First time in Memphis and staying for 5 days equaled a lot of meals out… Aldo’s was amazing, the food quality was wonderful and they have crafted some delicious food combinations. Great beer choices too. All of the staff were attentive and knowledgable. The Prosciutto wrapped asparagus and shrimp polenta and pizzas and sandwiches… all fantastic.

I’ve been to Aldo’s twice and it’s been good both times. Get the garlic knots, at $ 4.50 they go great with a small pizza for two people. Pizza, knots, beer and a drink run about $ 30

Outstanding is all I can say. Great pizza, great sandwiches at a great price. With kids the service was over the top. They know how to handle kids.

Had the Mr. T Rex and garlic knots. The pizza was absolutely great the meat balls on top where fantastic. The garlic knots weren’t bad either just a little lacking in flavor (not enough garlic and herbs). The atmosphere was very hip. The resturant décor was interesting and cool as well. Wait staff was friendly and food was fast and hot.

This is some really great pizza! They have a good selection of beer too. I highly suggest the stuffed peppers! They were incredible!

Found out they were rated #1 pizza place in memphis… it showed.
We got an 18″ pizza of half Memphis/​half T Rex. Memphis is bbq pulled pork (that they get from Central BBQ, #1 bbq place in memphis) with onion. The dealbreaker was the side of cole slaw that went on it. That put it over the top! The T rex was pepperoni, sausage and meatballs. They had about two full meatballs per slice. Very good. It was a thin crust. Had the taste of a brickoven style (idk if i was cooked that way or not) The Memphis portion was my favorite. Service was awesome, Tim (wears glasses) was our waitor. Super nice and super helpful since we were tourists. Told us places to go and places to avoid. The pizza was $ 25. Not cheap but for downtown, gourmet pizza it was great. 3 slices and i was stuffed. Brought home 3 slices. Best restaurant we’ve been to so far.

This place has some pretty good pizza. I have tried various specialty pies and most of them have been good. It is a little bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. I have called in 2 slices of pepperoni several times for pickup when feeling lazy and don’t feel like cooking and my taste buds have always been satisfied. Best pizza I have experienced in Memphis thus far.

Every time I visit Aldos –It grows on me more and more!
Honestly, something must have happened to me one day and pizza is no longer my favorite dish. But Aldo’s is more than good pizza –it’s a really cool place!
Atmosphere: The more I look around, the more I appreciate the building –beautiful high ceilings, unique lighting/​light bulbs, newspaper décor –from the walls & (some) ceilings to the small plate of Sriracha & crushed red-​pepper, the «periodical» theme is there! There’s funky music playing and a few TV’s to watch.
Location: Main Street Memphis! You can people-​watch or trolley-​watch (okay, so now we have trolley busses) from their large windows. Come before an Orpheum event or a game (I often do.)
People: Always friendly. I’ve enjoyed conversations from school subjects to sweet-​potato beer.
Cleanliness: Clean & «open.» (If it wasn’t clean –I wouldn’t have written this much!)
Food: Again, I’m no longer a huge pizza fan … but soon I realized –I LIKE THIS STUFF and I keep coming back!
There is always a different yummy daily slice (creative special) in addition to their regulars: cheese, pepperoni, vodka etc. I typically order a daily slice & an appealing side-​salad –FOR UNDER $ 8!
The pizza crust is slightly buttery-​flakey and (yes, I will admit) pretty darn good! Pair it with a side salad (makes me feel a little better to eat something green & leafy, too.) Or if you prefer a salad as your main thing, they are also REALLY BIG and fresh! I haven’t tried their sandwiches yet –but they look equally tempting. (I keep saying, «next time.»)
Drink: I also like that there are plenty of local DRAFTS on tap –including Wiseacre!
No complaints so far! Please don’t change!

ok ok, i went back a few times since my last review, i was harsh, didn’t give it the respect it deserved, its real good, been into the pizza of the day slice at the bar with a nice yummy cool high cotton Scottish ale which is on tap…
Go there if your in the mood for pizza, you won’t be disappointed… People are friendly and place has great ambiance… They spent a lot of money making this place a high end pizzeria enjoy it…

Probably some of the best pizza I’ve had in my life! Don’t let the thin, delicious, homemade crust fool you, though. Some have been known to bite off more than they can chew! Portions are hearty. Ingredients are fresh. Recipes are phenomenal.
Now onto the staff– wonderful people who are attentive and friendly… not to mention their great sense of humor! If I were staying in town, I’d either be a regular, or their new best friend.
You won’t be disappointed.

I have only visited this wonderful city twice, but have made 3 stops into Aldo’s…that should tell you something.
I fancy myself a bit of a pizza connoisseur… hell I eat enough of it. I love it all… New Haven Style, Chicago Style, Greek Style, NY Style… etc…Aldo’s stacks up very well. It’s a thinner pie, so you can fold it and go to town much like the NY Style variety. Very good crust and solid tasting sauce… the 2 most important points for a great pizza.
I normally sit in the bar area and it’s very cool. They have a selection of what looks like 25 or so drafts and a great bottle selection too. Very solid beer. I love that it is located on Main Street with huge windows. It makes for great people watching.

Pizza… I never was a big fan during my college years, in fact my friends knew not to suggest a pizza place as an option! But, after trying Aldo’s last year or so, I have really grown to love pizza (mainly just Aldo’s pizza). The downtown location is convenient for me since I can walk there and the hours of operation are good.
I get the same pizza just about every time, the white pizza. Simple and delicious! The garlic knots are good too. There’s a great deal where you can get a slice and a drink for $ 5.00, too. Each time I go, I typically have good service. Sometimes it can be hard to call in an order on the weekends so I like having the option to just walk down and get my pizza fix.

Great pies, great patio for people watching, great service. What more could you ask for. The pizza is always fresh and there are several unique options. Aldo does such a great job with his places. Also, you must try Bar dog Tavern, best happy hour in downtown Memphis

The pizza here is great. It’s thin crust, which I love. If you’re looking for Chicago-​style then I’m afraid you’re out of luck.
They have quite a few house pizzas. My favorite is probably the T-​Rex, which is as meaty as it sounds. However, I also really enjoyed the Cheech and Bob, which is spicy and wonderful. This being Memphis, their bbq pizza is terrific, with Central BBQ pulled pork on top. They’ve also got a solid beer selection, including all the locals, of course.
I also love that they sell pizza by the slice. It’s a great option if you’re not ready to sit down for a meal.

I dropped in for lunch around noon and decided to sit outside on the patio. The weather was fabulous so it was perfect for people watching on Main Street. I decided to get the Prosciutto Asparagus and the 12 inch White Pizza. The 12 inch pizza had 8 slices on it, so perfect for sharing. The Prosciutto Asparagus was delicious. The White Pizza had the perfect combination of cheeses on it. I even got my son, who is «Mr. Picky» to eat three slices of it with no complaints.

Pizza is delish and the ambiance is righteous. Plus the happy hour knows how to treat a lady!

Really cool place personable staff– very informative & hospitable — lunch hour is super busy!!! But is well worth the wait

I’ll keep this simple:
1. This is my favorite pizza in Memphis (maybe in the world).
2. The bar is fantastic. I come here almost every Sunday and it has the «where everybody knows your name feel»
3. If you can’t decide what pizza to get (they are ALL great) get a daily slice. I’ve never had a bad one.

Aldo’s makes some of the best pizza you’ll ever try! Their 18″ pie can feed a couple of starving men, and I feel like they are reasonably priced for the quality and size.
Our waiter tended to us regularly and did a wonderful job explaining the sizes and the variety of ways to combine/​assemble your pizza pies.
The restaurant is spacious and clean, with somewhat of an industrial look.
We ordered an 18 inch half Lombardi and half Willy Cheech. Fabulous! We will regularly choose Aldo’s during Memphis outings!

Willie, Cheech and Bob!!! Seriously, this is a pizza on the menu and it is THE BOMB! It has tomato sauce, mozzarella, jerk chicken, red onion, mango chutney, and «very hot jalapeño» but I get it without onion and extra everything else! Killer combo! I wish I could vouch for their other pizzas but I cannot get enough of this one!
And they have some great local beers. My favorite is the Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan nut brown. They also deliver in the local area with an electric golf cart, too cute!
