Gerry’s Pizza

To put it simply, the pizza here was abysmal. A dear friend and I were craving barbecue sauce one evening and so placed an order with Gerry’s for their barbecue chicken pizza. We each deemed it inedible due to the absence of barbecue sauce and the revolting chicken. This pizza was an utter disgrace to its namesake.

I ordered a pizza featuring jalapenos, but only discovered they do not ever carry that topping (which is on their menu) after the pizza was delivered with different toppings on it.
When I called to resolve the issue, I was promised a discount on my next order. When it came time for the next order, I was told by the person in charge that I would never get a discount and was quoted at $ 35 for a cheese pizza and steak sub (presumably an open insult.)
Fat buffalo chicken subs are not as terrible as the managers here, though.

Ordered a steak and cheese and buffalo chicken wrap from Gerry’s. They were both pretty good. Since we are new to town we’ll have to check out some of the other shops before going back.
Gerry’s was a good start.

Typical New England sub shop fare with a surprise.
Italian sub, Greek salad, plain cheese pizza, and Buffalo wings were all good/​average — no complaints. The steak and cheese (something I try my first time at any sub shop) was ³⁄₅.
Steak and Cheese Judging Criteria
1.) Is it anything like the superior and nearly extinct steak and cheese subs from the 80’s?: barely
2.) Is the steak so greasy it erodes the bottom of the bread (a good thing)?: No
3.) Is the cheese melted, fused with the steak, and has that 80’s aroma (You know what I’m talking about)?: No
4.) Is the cheese abundant?: A bit lite
5.) Is the bread traditional and the sandwich tight like a torpedo?: Somewhat
6.) Does the sandwich have heft?: No
7.) Is the steak thinly shredded but not stringy/​grissily?: Yes
The Surprise!
I’m a fan of stuffing the Greek salad in the accompanying pita bread it usually comes with. When I unwrapped what I thought were two halves of pita bread I was blown away by what I saw — behold a beautiful thick and hearty artisan-​like pita bread the likes of which I’ve never seen before. The outer crust was baked to a brown sheen and it must have been close to an inch thick. I was able to pile drive the entire salad into the pita without any structural failure. The pita necessitated a fourth star. Great call Gerry!

Slow delivery — waited over 45 minutes for an order of chicken wings. Bad service and even worst portions. Never coming here again. Waste of money.

Best buffalo chicken pizza, in Melrose (my husband and I have tried them all) make sure you get the white sauce, it’s delicious!

I had a horrible experience at Gerry’s Pizza. I went to the back to use the bathroom and it was absolutely disgusting front and back. The service was terrible & the people were rude and only spoke a foreign language. And not to mention for standard pizza joint food that’s very easy to make it was horrible and poorly put together and my chicken was undercooked. Very disappointed. I didn’t even want to put one star. I will never and I repeat never go there again!

we order the sicilian pizza every friday night. it is always, always delicious! the staff is very friendly, and super polite on the phone when we call in our order. highly recommend

This review is on the greek chicken salad. Iceberg lettuce, nothing but iceberg lettuce. The most nutrient-​less and cheapest salad green out there. Is this really feta cheese, the texture is more soggy than usual. Hrmmmm. Good pita bread. but is really just pizza dough? What gives…
Starved, I scarfed this down. But if I find myself hungry in Melrose again, I won’t be coming here.

Crispy and chewy calzones oozing with toppings. They did however take almost an hour on a Tuesday night.

Gerry’s is great! My company orders from them a lot. They are usually pretty fast, unless you order right at 12, because they get really busy for lunch. If you are going to order for delivery, order anytime before noon and your food will get there fast.
An office favorite is the salad. Gerry’s house dressing is the best out there… not to mention their pita bread that comes with each salad! it is so good, especially when its warm! Their wraps are also really good, they have white wraps or wheat wraps to chose from.
On top of it all, the staff is great, very friendly.
I would definitely recommend Gerry’s!

Amazing fries!!! ok so theres a lot of competition across the street i know but the fries at gerry’s are so yummy and crispy, i would skip petrone’s fries for gerry’s fries any day. as for the pizza sorry, i like petrone’s better. but if you’re in the mood for some killer fries… gerry’s is your place!
