Mielcarek Eye Lifetime Vision Center

First and foremost I want to state that the health care professionals at the office are very caring and thorough.
Now to discuss where I had my issues; with the billing.
I went to the office for a routine eye exam to have my vision checked for my prescription eye glasses. I have no issues with my eyes medically nor went there for any medical reasons. I wanted to take advantage of my husband’s insurance, where we have a free annually routine vision exam. I spoke to the front desk to discuss my benefits and they acknowledged my free annual vision exam and that it would be covered.
Now comes the $ 200 dollar bill I receive 1 month later stating that my exam was billed to my healthcare insurance and applied to my out of network deductible. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called the billing department to discuss the error. They rejected anything I had to say and stated that since my Doctor found a benign form of cataracts it has to be billed to my medical.
I work in the health field, and I know this type of behavior is not only inaccurate but illegal (see bait and switch). Going in for a routine vision exam with the specific vision insurance that was supposed to be used has nothing to do with any benign findings that they may or may not find. I have spoken to a number of other patients I know that visit this office and many have similar billing issues. Needless to say I will not be returning nor telling my friends and family to see this office.
This is the first negative review I have ever written, but I wanted to share my experience. I am quite disappointed with Mieclarek Eye Works and their questionable billing policies.

small wait time, the doctor explained everything nicely, and the front desk was also great at explaining all my insurance benefits. Would recommend the doctors here if you need some quality eye care.
