Enso is a yoga enthusiasts yoga studio. Gwen and Adam provide an open hearted, compassionate, and yet fierce place to practice. I’ve been a student there for over five years and my body/heart/mind is stronger, more flexible, and more open because of the lessons I’ve learned on my mat. I tend to go to their Slow Flow and All Level Vinyasa classes. The warmed room is spacious and beautifully appointed. The music mixes are eclectic.

Enso is a nice little spot in Media! I used to go to Maitri Yoga in Media but it’s closed now. :-( I am a new yoga teacher so I’m constantly looking for inexpensive classes in the area to get other teacher’s perspectives and listen to the phrasing. Todd and I joined Lisie for her Christmas Eve Morning class(I’m fairly sure it’s the Slow Flow Yoga) before we headed up to New York for the holiday. We got there a little late so I didn’t have a chance to tell her that I was five months pregnant… no big deal. Lisie has a VERY calming and relaxing pacing to her classes. We did not do any poses that would be considered intermediate so this would be a great class for anyone at any level. She offers modifications for each level so it was challenging but relaxing as all good classes are. One thing to note– the room is kept around 80 degrees. I haven’t had any heat issues with pregnancy but some people do– if you’re new to yoga and pregnant, it might not be the class for you. They are offering a prenatal class series and on the flyer it’s noted that that room with NOT be heated so do check that out!

The only reason I’m not giving this a fifth star is because I have no comparison. But the owners, Gwen and Adam, have been so accomodating and are so accomplished that I cannot imagine many are better than enso. I started at enso because my bikiing performance was at a plateau. Gwen created an individual yogic budakon training program for me that resulted in an injury and pain free 200 mile/2 day bike trip. I finished my second 100 miles in 6.5 hours, and I credit enso for that! Enso practices in a heated room(lovely in the winter). And I have found all of their classes to be appropriate for all levels. All instructors will tailor the class to the students. And enso offers lots of workshops for those who want to improve their practice or learn more about a practice. I’d encourage anyone interested to try enso.

enso is a yogic, martial and living arts studio. Adam Markus and Gwen Soffer teach power yoga and budokon(a martial and yogic art form) classes in this wonderfully designed space. I was introduced to the studio through my tango students, Joel and Martha, who are Adam’s parents. Adam brings the intense inner warmth of his family to his yoga practice and teaching. An engaging instructor, he knows how to work with everyone at their level but with the confidence and encouragement necessary for growth. In addition to yoga and budokon classes, enso regularly hosts events including a weekend workshop with the founder/creator of budokon and an in-studio performance by the group Wah! If you are looking for yoga or fitness in Media, this is the place to go.
