I ordered chow mein and got something that looks similar to chop suey i tried to call and speak with the man there and he said that I was wrong and I got chow mein. He hung up on me. However what I received is far from what I expected. Will not come here again.

I’ve learned that, at a certain point in life, you have to grow out of childish things, and eating this kind of bad Chinese food is definitely among them. I gave Rose 2 stars and not 1 because there delivery was spot on and they didn’t mischarge me like so many places do. The«crab» rangoons were too oniony and undercooked The pork had a definite«from a can» flavour and the sauce was just tossed on top But the worst was the lo mein. Also tasting like it came from a can, the lo mein had soggy noodles and even soggier vegetables. It’s the kind of dish you eat knowing full well that it hates you. Not even two hours after ingesting it I started to feel queasy, which indicates this cook probably reuses oil, and it must have turned for this particular batch. For 8 dollars, I expected something more edible. I can’t blame this restaurant for my evolved taste: I’ve been eating Panda Express at work and I can watch them cut fresh veggies from the counter, so I shouldn’t blame these guys for cooking American-Chinese food the same way it’s been for years. But take it from me, if you’re not in college or on the brink of starvation, don’t waste your antacids on this food.

My husband and I thought we’d try this place for the first time we’ve been looking for a good chinese place local to us. The food was not good, very bland. The fish fillet was all bread it was like the breaded it twice to make it look like bigger pieces of fish. The dumplings were all dough. We didn’t even keep the leftovers we tossed it. First and last time I would not recommend this place. Live and learn.

Pretty good. It’s definitely Americanized food but I like it. The pork with garlic sauce is my favorite

I love that Rose’s has sushi and American Chinese food. This is the perfect way to please everyone in my family. The portions are a great value, especially the dinner combos. The food is good but not amazing which is why I gave 4 stars. I’ve only ordered food from Rose’s via Grub Hub & all deliveries have been quick and accurate.

I’m chinese and don’t often have a craving for Americanized chinese takeout. For some reason, I’ve been on a kick lately to look for a decent place near home. I have been putting off this place because the photos and reviews weren’t very great, but saw the 5star reviews today and gave them a try. Unfortunately, the other places near home(though mediocre) is by far better… The fried rice was severely undercooked and flavorless. Pork in the rice was dry. Hot and sour soup ingredients were all canned and it wasn’t flavorful either. Spare ribs and beef teriyaki had a little flavor but a bit dry as well. Crab Rangoon skin was somewhat soggy. If you’re looking for run of the mill chinese takeout around the area, try New Hong Kong village in Medford square or Taipei Tokyo in Davis square. While these other ones are around 3stars, they will still be better.

No place can deliver food to tufts faster than roses. The dinner combos are a pretty good deal. A good quick delivery option.

This place is great in what it offers. If you want american style Chinese take out, that’s perfect hang over food, and satisfies the greasy craving of take out; you’ve found your place. We consistently get an order of hot and sour soup, crab rangoons(they are a healthy portion of cream cheese), and either Gau’s or lo mein. It’s tasty as all hell and the perfect shitty chinese food.

Their delivery is so fast you’d swear they were making the food in the damn delivery car! But seriously, this food is the BEST American-Chinese dishes around. I know what you’re thinking, «It’s just the same old finger food as all the other places.» Trust me, it isn’t. They’re yummy and taste so good they’ve ruined me for all other Chinese places.

Like an earlier reviewer, I’m giving 5 stars to pull the average rating up because, while Rose’s isn’t mind-blowing or compulsively addictive, it has never disappointed me in its speed, filling portions, and savory, hot Chinese American food. The lunch/dinner sets are a good bet: pork fried rice + a stick of marinated chicken + whatever entrée you prefer — I sometimes get Hunan Spicy Beef, or Eggplant when I’m feeling for some fiber. Their delivery speed is phenomenal. If you live near it, just walk on over. If you want to be eco-friendly, return the cutlery/napkins that they’ll place into your big brown paper bag.

I was really disappointed with the food. Fried rice was bland. Also ordered shrimp with garlic sauce, which was mostly sauce and that brown seaweed stuff. Not a fan. Silver lining: delivery is super fast, and just like any other Chinese take-out it’s filling at least

Rose’s seems to be the only Chinese restaurant in the immediate vicinity of Tufts University, so there is that. They also do delivery, there that’s pretty cool. Generally, Rose’s delivers on time, and the food is intact. However, the ambiance of the place is terrible. They also serve sushi here(apparently), but I’ve never had the stuff. It’s an uncomfortable degree of warm in here, and the seats are kind of sketchy. The staff aren’t too friendly either, but this understandable since most of the people working here are first generation Chinese. The food itself is not so good, but honestly Chinese food in America has never been great. I might be rating this a little harshly since I am Asian myself, but if you want to go have Chinese food, I’d recommend going to Taipei Tokyo instead, which is in Davis Square.

Food is ok. Just noticed they don’t devein their shrimp. That sucks. Good place around the corner if you are starving and you and your roommates want a quick bite.

There are a million reasons to order from Rose’s: in-laws, hectic workaday evenings, illness, late nights, you name it. The food itself? Is not one of those reasons, exactly. The eggplant in garlic sauce is as good as everyone says, the General Gau’s is as bad as Damien reports. The portions are large, the prices are low and I’m sure you can find something on the menu that meets your specific needs and doesn’t offend your palate. You’ll come back for one reason or another and, eventually, you’ll find a favorite dish. The delivery is consistently fast and friendly, a 5-star operation serving the world’s most average Chinese-y fast food. Eating in is a little weird: friendly, but awkward and very bare bones.

After all of the money I spent at Rose’s during my four years at Tufts, I feel compelled to do my part to raise its average rating. I probably ordered from here fifty times and never once found tinfoil, hair, or any mysterious unidentified objects in my food. What did I receive instead? Fast and friendly service, delicious(unhealthy, sure – but delicious) Americanized fare, and very reasonable prices. As you can probably garner from the other reviews, do not come here expecting authentic Sichuan cuisine or trendy fusion sushi. That’s clearly not their M.O. But put in a call if your friend wants pad thai, you’re craving a shrimp tempura roll, and your girlfriend wants General Gau’s. No one will be blown away, but no one will be terribly disappointed(or surprised) either. It’s the best of all worlds! By the way, try ordering $ 115 worth of take-out for a party of twelve and asking how long it will take to be delivered. Spoiler alert: it’s ten minutes.

FOUNDPIECEOFTINFOILINOURRICE. But other than that… Food was okay. Spare ribs were TERRIBLE(99% fat). Spring Rolls tasted bad. Chicken wings were decent. Teriyaki was good. Chicken fingers standard. Will not be going again.

The place is very cheap. I like the General Gau plate(SOMUCHFOOD). However, if you order for take-out, they don’t call you when the food is ready. This was not a one-time event(I’ve ordered take-out from them 3 times). Each time, I had to call them and ask if it was ready. The chicken teriyaki that comes with the General Gau plate is pretty terrible.

More of a 2.5 stars place, but I’m rounding up instead of down. One downside is communication(at times). I think it’s possible on New Year’s Eve they only do large orders, but that was not communicated well over the phone so when I kept saying«small» they would say«ok» after initially saying something about size I did not understand(I thought they were telling me how many pieces came in a small, instead of saying they were not offering small orders). So, I ended up with way more food then desired and likely paid way more than I was planning to — it’s a busy night though and in general communication, while difficult, has not affected the results of my order. I consistently get the same food, and in general am happy with it. The orange sesame chicken is VERY sweet and if you’re into that, that is a good thing. When it comes to appetizers, they are pretty inconsistent with the amount of duck sauce they give you. Sometimes it is a very small container and sometimes it is huge. The chicken fingers I have had have been consistently good, spring rolls consistently average, and egg rolls average as well. Offering sushi is nice, but the actual sushi is inconsistent. We got vegetarian rolls last night and pictured something far different then iceberg lettuce and unpeeled cucumber. The avocado rolls were good. So, if you’re looking for average american-style chinese food, it’s okay.

This place is not nice. Not nice at all. I created a Unilocal account just cause I feel so strongly about telling whoever I can reach on how awful they are. You know how Asians discriminate against Asians? Well, I can only assume that of course but what reason can they have for looking me up and down and being grumpy the entire time we were there when the same lady was all smiley at the non-Asian customers? I was so upset on how this lady«accommodated» us so I didn’t even bother ordering. But my husband(Caucasian) did, so I have tried some of their food. The food wasn’t spectacular that I could just ignore how they almost threw the plastic plates on the table while the lady’s mouth was all pouty +smikry at the same time. I could almost hear her scoff. The broccoli that they put in every dish they served looked so green but they’re soggy and I won’t be surprised if they actually«recycled» them. The crab Rangoon was very hot, fresh off the pan but it wasn’t crispy and it didn’t come with any sauce at all. They should, cause that could help fix its flavor. The chicken in their General Gao’s was dry, wait, I don’t know which part was the chicken and which part was the flour because the breading was too thick that even some bits were just flour balls. If you would like to support several levels of people discrimination while enjoying yucky food, please, by all means, this is the place for you!

Are you looking for groundbreaking, high-end, Asian fusion? You are? Then you are in the wrong place! Rose’s is perfect for Americanized Chinese fast food delivery. The food is consistent, tasty, and the service is fast. You definitely get a lot of food for your money. I love the different choices of combinations you can get and the menu has everything you could want. I love the Peking Ravioli’s, the General Tso’s chicken, and the veggie lo mein. I would steer clear of the sushi and the pad Thai as I have always found both of those to be a bit underwhelming. The delivery is always super fast, almost weirdly so. I swear they have gotten to my house within 5 minutes of ordering food and I live 5 minutes away. But anyways, I’m not complaining! I love fast service. But a word to the owner’s if they read this — BENICETOYOURCUSTOMERS! Almost every time I call to place my order, the person on the phone is excessively rude. So I wouldn’t call expecting a pleasant experience. But as I mentioned, the food is always hot, tasty, cheap and well made, so, for now, this is my go to Chinese delivery in Medford.
