Master Eye Associates

I had a comprehensive eye examination this morning and was expecting to pay $ 99.00. After the exam they told me it was going to be $ 300.00. They had already billed my insurance company and that is what they charge insurance companies and it was too late to bill me. They would have charged me $ 110.00, but could not change it now. Does anyone wonder why our health insurance cost so much? I should have read the other reviews before going in, obviously not a reputable place to do business. Too bad because I liked the Dr. Red flags all over the place, beware when entering this place.

Rachel H. Read your review and I think you gave up the fight too soon. Write to the Oregon Optometry Board and the Oregon Attorney General’s Office and let them know. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, don’t take it, attack! Here’s my experience and it’s still pending.
I needed a routine eye exam for a new pair of glasses. Master Eye associates quoted me a total price of $ 99 and I agreed. When I tried to pay, the receptionist told me to pay my normal $ 20 co-​pay and then wait, as she intended to submit a claim to my health insurance company. I told her I do not have vision coverage and she said «Well. let’s just see what they will do». Later I find that Master Eye Associates billed my insurance company $ 188, nearly twice the amount they quoted to me! My insurance company authorized a payment of $ 129 and rejected the rest of the amount submitted by Master Eye Associates. So Master Eye Associates now has my $ 20 co-​pay and an extra $ 30 from my insurance company. That’s $ 50 more than their original quoted price of $ 99.
But that’s not all. As I previously said, my health insurance company paid them a portion ($ 129) of the $ 188 they asked for. Master Eye Associates actually sent me a bill for the remaining amount, they want an additional $ 39. So, if one adds up all the money paid to Master Eye Associates from my health insurance company and me, they received the original $ 188 they asked for.

Now, however, I’m fighting back and at the very least, I’m going to try to have someone look at their billing procedures and determine if they are fraudulent or not.

This Company’s business practices are so completely inappropriate and unprofessional I couldn’t believe it. Last year, I had an eye exam. The MD was great, and I was quickly sent home with shiny new contacts to trial with a return appointment date for follow up. I could not make the appointment, so I made many efforts to call and even went in to the office to reschedule. The doctor that saw me, was only in 3 days a week and for very short hours on those days. Which resulted in me being unable to complete the exam and contact fittings.
A year later, I am served Circuit court papers, for an outstanding balance from Master Eye Associated that I WAS NEVER invoiced for. No past due notices, no phone calls, no notification whatsoever of any outstanding bill. As a matter of fact, on one of my MANY attempts to reschedule and complete the exam, I was told that I had no outstanding balance, that my insurance covered the costs of my exam.
I have made multiple calls to the Medford Office to follow up on the outstanding balance, and pay whatever I may owe. The woman has refused to speak to me, hung up on me, and told me specifically that she will not discuss my billing issues and that I am to follow up with Southern Oregon Credit Services.
She will not even provide me with an invoice as to what the charges are for.
Southern Oregon Credit Services redirects me to their offices.
So, Apparently, my only option is to pay the amount or get a judgement on my credit.
Thank you Master Eye Associates. Not only did I not get good service and a completed prescription for the money you claim I owe you, I have no choice but to pay for something I never knew I got.
Shame on you Master Eye Associates. Shame on you.
