Great people, great selection& good prices. I love the people that work here, they make you feel like you’ve known them all your life. The selection is great for the small store that they have. Most of the beer is refrigerated too so that’s a plus. Only downside is its used by a lot of the Tufts students that are on campus around the area.

One of the cheapest liquor stores around with awesome employees. Anne is awesome. The selection here is excellent, and they are always fully stocked. They’ve got a wide range of low to high quality beer, wine, and liquor. Cold 30-racks in the fridge in the back and kegs when you need them. Also far less expensive than the nearby Teele Liquors and Downtown Wine and Spirits.

This place is the go-to liquor store for Tufts students for a reason. True, the location helps. But Anne(the weekend cashier), the good selection, and reasonable prices all make Hillsides a destination. This is not the best place to go for recommendations on new wines to try. This IS the best place to go for local advice on just about anything else. Anne is a wealth of knowledge on topics ranging from local history to events in town and definitely Massachusetts geography. They follow Tufts’ event calendar. So around homecoming and spring fling expect to see displays of Andre and Yellowtail. Pro-tip: Hillsides is a mandatory stop on your 21st birthday. They offer lots and lots of swag.

Good selection and good prices. 2 bottles of my fav wine for $ 10 – I’m in! I can also walk here, which is great in a pinch. I find their prices to be very reasonable considering they are next to a college and could probably charge much more.

Best liquor store close to Tufts. Walking distance from campus, and they have great prices and a good selection. They have a lot of different kinds of pumpkin beer in the fall(including Shipyard Smashing Pumpkins. mmmmm) and they have fun little things like a grab bag of mini hard liquor bottles and pre-mixed specialty shots in a 6-pack. Love them!

As the go-to liquor store for most Tufts students, Hillside does a really good job combining a solid selection with great prices. The staff there is super helpful and very friendly, to both students and locals alike(Anne especially — what a rock-star). Even several years after graduating I was still remembered by name and had good conversations with the staff while buying my booze. They have a good selection of both beer and liquor, sure to satisfy the brokest of college kids and craft beer/specialty cocktail enthusiasts alike. If they don’t have something you are looking for, they are more than happy to put in a special order for you or look into purchasing. They also have helpful accessories like ping pong balls, cups and frequentyl have vendors in for giveaways and specials. Good prices, great staff and free pint glasses and SI swimsuit issues had me sold for years on Hillsides. I’m still looking for a comparable liquor store to this day.

More than the low prices, I really love this place for the friendly and interesting staff. They’ve been around Tufts a long time so they’re in touch with most of the school’s happenings and they’re very friendly with Tufts students. Like one other reviewer said they’re a charming cast of Boston characters that are lovably townie and awesome. Talk to Anne for vodka and hard A, Townhouse will hook you up with good beers(ask him and he will special order for you) and while I haven’t seen Christina in a while, she’s lovely. Best part is that if you come often enough and everyone knows your name. If I wasn’t moving downtown I’d definitely continue to shop here.

I have never actually bought anything here(I am under 21) but I have been going with my dad when he buys drinks for about 15 years. The store is clean but smells like alcohol. They take bottle returns in the back. They are the closest liquor store to Tufts and every Friday you see college students hauling kegs to their cars. You can park on the street and in the lot of the Brazilian church when services are not in session. The staff is nice and will give kids(young children, not college students) lollipops at the counter. Prices seem reasonable.

Only three reviews?! Like others have said, I spent many a senior weekday browsing Hillsides and picking up kegs. Some of my best memories from school involve brunches at Tastys followed by leisurely trips to HS and ensuing bloody marys. The selection, while inferior to Downtown in Davis, is still impressive for a local packy. A particular strength would be NE craft brews. They also carry Nighttrain, which if you haven’t had, I won’t describe to you. Anne is fantastic, loves Tufts students, and has a great sense of humor. The rest of the staff is a friendly cast of Boston locals as well.

I lived near Tufts last summer and we’d walk over here for our beer and liquor needs. In fact, we knew the place only as «Liquors Kegs» since that’s what’s on the side of the awning facing Curtis St. And they deliver on the promise of liquors kegs. Liquor is a go, with a medium-low sized selection and good prices, and kegs with a better-than-average price. I wish they had cheaper kegs of better brews — Blanchard’s in Allston demolishes Liquors Kegs — er, Hillside — on price on the high end, but Hillside beats Kappy’s or any other place I’ve found in Medford/Somerville/Cambridge. Friendly staff with a very, er, realistic outlook on booze sales.

wow I am the first one to review hillsides. this is unreal. if you go/went to tufts university, you know hillsides. this is THE booze store close to campus, and man do i love this place. better than any places around(like kappys for example) and always packed full of college kids. i went to this place easily once a day senior year, and had a record 5 trips here in one day. going to the beach? they have the coors light cooler boxes. having a party? you can get kegs(good ones too). cocktail party? loads of hard alcohol. they have sparx(one of my favs) and they ALWAYS have free posters of girls in bikinis holding 40s. the best part about this place is anne(the main checker outer) and the rest of the staff(adam is the man). i know it might strike you as odd that i know the entire staff on a first name basis, but then again i was their best customer. anne would give me crap about what booze i was buying, how many times i went back, if i needed a reciept(since she knew i was usually buying for more than just me), and was always super nice. i hooked some of the guys up with tshirts from my frat which they appreciated greatly, and probably gave me hundreds in discounts. i’m sorry, i can’t say enough about this place because i absolutly love it. by the way, they carry PINGPONG balls. how great is that — playing beirut/beer pong? gotta get cups, beer, and balls. stop here for all three. hillside: thank you for everything you did for me in college. my liver has forgiven you.
