Went here on Tuesday, 1÷26÷15 at 12:45. Walked in to find customers at 3 or 4 tables. Throughout my visit, there was a steady stream of patrons coming in. I tried the Chipotle burger and got it with fries and a drink. My total bill was just under $ 10. The burger, which consisted of two patties, was decent. I’ve had better quality tasting meat at other restaurants. The toppings were good and tasty. The fries were fairly crunchy and old bay and vinegar were provided by the soda machine. Overall, I found Wayback Burgers to be a good establishment which provided good-tasting food at a very reasonable price and would recommend to others.

I am not sure where some of these people, who gave Wayback Burgers a bad review, ate? We have been there at least 10 times and it was excellent each time and consistently excellent. Of course now that I said that I fully expect it to close because that always happens when we find a good place. They are not located in a particularity good location, being away from the road and not easily seen by passerbyers. We have been to Five Guys as well at least 20 times and like it also. My wife practically lives on hamburgers and fries so her judgment is pretty important. So far Wayback wins over Five Guys for both hamburgers and fries. The fries could win at either location depending on what type of fries you like. Wayback does not have natural cut fries but man are they good! Sometimes Five Guys fries are a little soggy. We have never had this happen at Wayback. Wayback has a good selection of specialty hamburgers and other selections like chicken sandwiches and hot dogs. Not a large menu but enough. We have only eaten hamburgers as they are so good. I would say so far they are in the top 3 hamburgers I have had in the Harrisburg area(I am referring to the actual naked hamburger taste unadorned). The service has not been slow at all and is as fast as any similar hamburger place. Any good hamburger has some grease to it, that is what makes it good! But it has been no more than a Five Guys type restaurant and sometimes less. It seems to be the cheese that causes the grease and not the hamburger.. Another positive at Wayback Burgers is they have TVs to watch and the place is not overly noisy. They play older music on their own station but it is good music. It is a comfortable place to eat and clean. The only negative comment I can make is they need better drink choices. If they upgraded to the new Coke machines that would be an improvement. The Pepsi they have seems a little«off.» even though I like Pepsi normally. But they do have decent unsweetened ice tea which my wife drinks and she always compares this to other places. She hates the tea at Five Guys, but they have good Coke machines, so we drink Coke when there. This is a not a fast food hamburger joint so don’t expect dollar items. It is not a real cheap place but not hugely expensive and the prices are the same as similar establishments. If anything kills this restaurant it wont be the food, as it is really good, but it may be the location.

Went here for the first time today. You have to buy the burgers separate from the sides unless you upgrade to a combo. The prices are a little high which set me back at first. After you order you go sit down until they call your name. The food took about 8 minutes to be done. The burgers came out first which were actually bigger then I was expecting. They were very greasy which made it messy and needed a lot of napkins. After we were almost done with our burgers the fries finally came out. For being cheese fries I was kinda disappointed they just put shredded cheese on them. I paid almost a dollar more for them just to add a little cheese. Other than that everything was amazing. Will go back again in the future.

The Burgers and fries are good, but a little over priced. The speed of the service leaves a lot to be desired. I arrived at lunch time with only one customer ahead of me in line and it took 30 minutes for them to make a hamburger. Faster service, cheaper burgers and better burgers at the Outback next to this place

Greasy! Was better when it first opened. Food quality isn’t great and I won’t be returning. My daughters bun was wet with grease.

We went in on Sunday afternoon. The place was clean and inviting. My boyfriend ordered the cheesy double and I ordered a double cheeseburger. The burgers were delicious, the bread was soft and the cheese was flavorful as well. I would definitely go there again, it’s our new favorite burger joint.

Visited Wayback recently during the week for lunch. It was not busy at all. There were a few people eating in the restaurant and a couple of people ordering take out. The burger was not bad, but it was not great. Cheese was just slapped on the burger and not melted. Fries were good. I could tell the employees were bored because it was slow. While I appreciate a clean restaurant, one employee kept sweeping the floor where the food was being prepared. What if dust and dirt kicks up? Not very appetizing! Also he kept sweeping the dining area that was not even dirty. Once he was done with that, he decided to squeegee the windows in the dining room where we were eating. Keep in mind, this is around 1 pm during the week. It was an annoying experience. I might try a Wayback again, but another location. This one doesn’t seem to be managed well.

I saw someone write ‘uninspired’ and I think that’s pretty accurate. What’s the draw? Mediocre burger on a Sysco bun with generic Sysco fries… Meh. If you want a great burger 5 Guys is the place IMO…

Some of these reviews were written by bloggers that think they are food experts. THEYAREHAMBURGERS! Don’t expect duck a l’orange because you aren’t getting that. The brisket burger was outstanding and of a normal temperature and the onion rings tasted like, wait for it… onion rings. There weren’t scores of people sitting around waiting for food and it took no longer than 5 Guys and the food wasn’t dripping with grease. Take your skinny jeans and waxed mustaches and go eat somewhere else. The people I ate with had a great time and enjoyed their food.

Similar to «five guys» except way less greasy! Place is clean and workers here seem to be more pleasant! As I said we both ordered the southwestern burger it had pepper jack cheese and Jalepenos & chipotle dressing nothing was skimped. Onion rigs also were crispy and tasty! Great First impression! Recommend over Five Guys!

It’s probably the second-best burger in greater Harrisburg behind Jackson House, so yes, it’s quite good. Juicy, tasteful. And the shakes take you back 20 – 30 years. Good old-time shakes. Now, here’s the thing. If you go, don’t expect anything approaching fast food. You’ll spend as much time there as if you went to a sit-down restaurant. They are that pain-stakingly slow. The result is an atmosphere of a lot of pissed-off people who expected fast service.

Came in on a Saturday at lunch time. Place was pretty much dead but still took 15 minutes to receive food. Advertise that burgers are grilled to order, however they aren’t. They cook them well and my burger patties were half burnt. Girl at the register was almost non-responsive and seemed to lack any enthusiasm or friendliness at all. Talked to a manager who was friendly but cited corporate policy for burgers having to be cooked well done. She advised that complaining via the website was a good idea because franchises have no control and also said numerous people have and continue to complain. Overall a miss and a big disappointment! I don’t see this place lasting.

The burger here is great. My wife and I both got burgers and split some fries. We wanted to try the shakes which were pretty tasty. They definitely have some improving to do on the ticket times but I feel that will come with time. The thing that sets them apart from 5 guys is they give you options on cheese and other toppings.

i love the great tasting cheeseburgers. The fries taste good. The food will take longer to make then a fast food chain, but at least you know that it was made hot enough and not undercooked.. I hate getting a big burger at Mcdonalds and it doesn’t seem cooked enough. it seems lukewarm. I love the 50s music playing in the place. It is pretty cool. The manager and workers always do a great job, are always polite, and it is a nice atmosphere. The black and white milkshake is amazing!!.

In a word: Meh. Nothing stands out about the entire place. Save maybe the inflated prices. The 50s theme extended only as far as the music playing on loop in the background. Very average burger. Decent fries. Shakes were pretty good. The bill for my wife and I was over $ 25. We did not feel we got anywhere near our money’s worth. The entire business model is questionable at best. Five Guys does it better and cheaper without the silly faux 50s façade. Definitely our first and last Wayback Burger experience.

Should have know better when we walked in, ordered right away, then turned around to see 12+ tables of people all looking annoyed without any food on them. In all it took 25 minutes before food arrived. My burger was odd. Patty and cheese were burn your mouth hot, and all the condiments were on the verge of being frozen. If I need a burger fix i’ll stick to Jackson house or 5 guys.

Wholly uninspired. Jake’s Wayback Burger is everything wrong about $ 6 burger joints. I had a Southwest Chipotle Burger and a side of fries. The fries were frozen and tasted bland. They were served nearly saltless and equally flavorless. That chipotle burger tasted nothing of chipotle. The bottom bun had a whole layer of jalapenos on it, and even these were almost flavorless. Even with all those jalapenos, all I really tasted was the vinegar they were pickled in. The meat was actually pretty good, it was rather flavorful but chewy and only served well done. The atmosphere was as drab as the food. The place was clean and well-kept, but nothing really made sense. The tables were modern and didn’t match the rest of the restaurant. The walls were blank and painted a dark, dull color. They were piping their own private ‘50s radio station over the loudspeaker and they call themselves«wayback,» but there was nothing else that made you think of the ‘50s. And then there was the over-eager, type-A personality, twenty-something manager running the place, spouting all the same rehearsed corporate spiel that you expect from a chain restaurant. I think, perhaps, that this chain may appeal to a different demographic. The light crowd this evening was overwhelmingly of the over-60 crowd. In my experience, places that attract an older crowd often serve food that tastes underseasoned. The place is not horrible, but it is in no way good. I would not take a date or anybody I was trying to impress there and, quite frankly, there are tastier, better-value choices for an everyday meal.
