I go to this place because its local to me, but every time I go in there I get the feeling that I am disrupting their gossip hour. Most of them just stare at me where we have this«stare-down» contest until one of them musters up the courage to ask me what I «need». After years of this poor customer service and feeling like I am an intruder rather than a paying customer… I’m out. World Cup doesn’t have as much variety in skis, but the customer service people are friendlier and more helpful in my experience. The review below that says how great their customer service is must be a plant. As I write this review I am waiting on a boot/binding check that I dropped off over a week ago and no one has called me to tell me my stuff is done. At this point I am just seeing how long it takes these guys to pick up the phone. Oh… and I love how they always give me the option of paying for the work when I drop the equipment off prior to it being completed. Who does that!!!

I’d like to give a shout out to Chris. He spent about 2.5 hours with me today while I was deciding on new skis, boots and pools. He was patient and answered all of my questions. He not only answered all my questions but was also very helpful with questions I had about the local Mountain Bike scene. I highly suggest going in and seeing Chris or any of the other sales people for that matter if your looking to get new skiing gear. Thanks for all of your help today Chris and I will see you on the slopes or maybe the mountain bike trails soon.

I stopped in to see the collection with my son and was pleased to see a kids bike with training wheels that he could sit on. The sales person helped to adjust the seat and handlebars for him which was nice. The have a good amount of bikes and lots of accessories. The store was set up well with a middle area for checkout and everything in departments like snowboards and bike racks separate. I was also interested in the kid wagon that you can hook up to a back to bring them along on rides… it can be used as a cart too according to the guy there which is useful info.

They have been a local staple in the Harrisburg area for over 40 years supporting both the bike and ski/snowboard community. That definitely says something about the quality of the store. The customer service is great, if they don’t carry the specific item in store(but carry the brand) they can almost always order it quickly. I found any one of the staff members I’ve encountered to be highly knowledgeable. I’ve bought both a snowboard and a bike here and I’ve been really happy with what I got.

I needed a neck warmer for cooler weather riding on my motorcycle. Since I drive past here on my way home from work I swung in to check the prices and availability of some sort of balaclava. Being winter they are stocked full of all sorts of apparel for the season. Jackets, Gloves, Hats, Socks, Boots. The sides of the store are lined with equipment for various sports, skiing, snowbording, innertubes, etc. The two employees pointed me to the stand behind the counter where they display what I came for. Plenty of styles to help keep your chest to head region warm and dry. I wandered around the store and checked various things out. Took notice that they are a little on the spendy side $ 30 – 100 for a pair of gloves, $ 130 – 500 for ski-boots, and some snowboards upwards in the 500+ range. Not that skiing and snowboarding are the cheapest of hobbies in the first place, I suppose those are just par for the course.

When I called about a warranty repair to my Specialized bike bought in Annapolis when I lived nearby, the gentleman on the phone at Mountainside hung up on me while I was asking questions concerning the repair. To my surprise, when I called back and asked for a manager, the same gentleman who hung up on me was put on the phone. After informing him that I would gladly let Specialized know about how I was being treated by one of their«authorized dealers,» he suddenly seemed cooperative. Upon finishing my call, I immediately called Specialized to tell them how rudely I had been treated. Once Specialized discovered which«authorized dealership» I had been dealing with, Specialized seemed unsurprised at my experience. They guided me to Gung Ho Bikes in York, PA to get my repair completed. Gung Ho treated me with courtesy and speed, and all ended well. But, I will NEVER spend a dime at Mountainside Ski and Sports.
