It was ok. I mean, you’re in Mebane so for the area it’s good. The rice was a little loose and kept falling apart on the sushi. Ok, back from the bathroom. That was disgusting …

Great place for a family dinner. The food is very good you can chose either beef chicken or shrimps with a fried rice. They also have a sushi bar. Everything was very tasty.

It was ok. For my sushi I ordered the volcano roll. That was actually good. I also ordered the mahi-mahi for the hibatchi part of my meal. I liked the rice and the veggies, the fish was okay. Everything but the sushi was just okay. The hibatchi items were not that memorable. The service was alright. Drinks were refilled at about half the glass being empty. The show was good. There were children at our table and they had never seen it before so they thought it was cool. However, every time a fire went off the new born at the table over from us let out blood chilling screams. This is not a place for a new born.

This restaurant is a love hate restaurant! They have pretty good food. They have a fun atmosphere. But… 76 sanitation grade. There are dead and live cockroaches on the ground. And the food is expensive! For me this place is a miss!

Excessive and somewhat confusing menus. If you want the simple/typical teriyaki chicken this is not the place for dinner. The chicken was also very under cooked.

Wonderful! The food is reasonably priced, the sushi was fresh and delicious, and everything from the ginger dressing to the steak, rice, and veggies was fantastic. The portions were large and the sauces very good. The staff was very attentive and did not make us wait until the table filled up before the cooking began. Every time we go to the outlets we plan to come here.

Had lunch here today before shopping at Tanger. We arrived at 12:10 and were the ONLY people in the restaurant until 12:30 when it started to fill up. If it weren’t for the reviews on Unilocal, we probably would have left at that point. We had the Teppanyaki with filet and scallops. The house salad that comes with it was very good. Might be the best house ginger dressing I’ve had. It was perfectly seasoned and delicious. We also split the shirmp and veggie tempura. This was also very good with the shrimp cooked exactly right. My only complaint is that the filet was overcooked and chewy when we asked for medium-rare. The scallops were cooked well though. Overall a nice lunch and I’ll go back if in the area.

Quality sashimi; friendly service. Some of the rolls a bit saucy, but good. Definitely recommend it, look forward to coming back.

Pleasantly surprised to find an authentic Japanese place here. Options to have food cooked at your table or sit in a quieter space. Staff friendly and fast service. Fair prices and food was delicious, however the salmon was a bit dry. Will return here on our next trip.

Awesome great tasting food. Make you ask to sit at the grill for the Chef to cook your food on front of you!

Call me a snob, but I wasn’t expecting much at a sushi place in Mebane. Even Carrboro’s options were fairly limited, and generally speaking, central NC isn’t known for its Japanese cuisine. While Sake is limited by the its proximity to the coast, I was really impressed, and we’ve eaten there several times since moving to Mebane. My favorite is the chef’s choice, which is a simple, fresh plate of sashimi & plain sushi on rice. I feel lucky to have a restaurant like this so close by, and the service is always really friendly and accommodating!

I’ve been to Sake about a half dozen times now and I’ve never been disappointed. They have a wide variety of meat and vegetarian options. The service is okay, nothing to go crazy about but the food makes up for that. I usually end up getting the hibachi chicken dinner and it never disappoints. I’m not a sushi person so I can’t speak for those selections but overall this is a gem in Mebane.

Good food and entertainment by the chefs, the wait staff is not nearly as good. UPDATE1⁄2012: prices have gone way up, a 2 item combo is now $ 20, more sushi has been added, but most disturbing, they got a 90(an A) on their most recent sanitary grading. Add a dollar sign and remove 1 star. :-(

My husband and I really enjoy Sake. We have only dined-in once, but we pick up take-out often. They have a great take-out deal: buy one hibachi dinner and get one for 50% off. We always get the filet, which comes with rice, veggies, salad, and soup. The portions are good and the food is always packaged well, with all the necessary utensils and sauces, which I really appreciate. The white sauce & ginger dressing are delish! Also, we love the sushi. There aren’t many establishments in Mebane that serve sushi so, we are happy we found one we enjoy!

Went there again last night and the food is excellent. The sushi is absolutely comparable to places like Oishi in Chapel Hill, Little Tokyo in Cary( ), or Shiki Sushi in Durham. The special rolls are fantastic and the fish is always fresh. I have not eaten at the Teppanyaki(Hibachi) side but the menu seems like typical Hibachi style. I have seen the cooks/entertainers though through the window and it looks like a good show. The presentation of the sushi is also excellent and very artistic from banana leafs to press-molded wasabi to creative arrangements. The service we had was totally fine although there were not many people in the restaurant. Would recommend for kids on either side of the restaurant and this place is probably one of the only really decent eateries in Mebane, NC.

I work in the area so I only go here for lunch, but its my favorite lunch spot around. They have a sushi menu which allows you to choose two rolls and a salad or soup for about $ 8.00 if I recall correctly. Definitely the healthiest option that I’ve found. The sushi is pretty good, certainly not the best I’ve had, but I do keep going back… Service is dreadfully slow though — I can only go when I have at least 45 minutes to an hour to kill(that’s including the drive time to the restaurant). It’s never really busy when I’m there either, so I’m wondering what the service would be like when it actually is… Either way, the food is great. My co-workers normally split between the sushi special or hibachi and they rave about both equally. Definitely give this place a shot; I can’t vouch for the Japanese Steakhouse side, but the regular seating side has some top notch food in an unassuming location.

My husband and I go to Sake about once a week. The food is great. The sushi surpasses that served in «notable» establishments in CH or Durham. I could bury my face in the rice. Seriously. I cannot get Japanese/hibachi food this good ANYWHERE around(including Durham or Raleigh). Sometimes the service can be slow, especially if they have an unexpected heavy evening. It’s good for kids, because the hibachi chefs love to put on nice shows for them and make them laugh. Also good for large groups.

An excellent example of a non-chain American-style Japanese restaurant. Sake has two sides to the restaurant, the teppanyaki(usually mistakenly referred to as hibachi) style where the food is cooked on the hot griddle right in front of you, and the regular tables at the other. The service is great, the prices are good, and the quality of the food, especially the sushi, is top-notch. There’s no need to drive to Kanki for excellent Japanese food.
