David’s is an absolute hidden gem! The waitress feels like your Chinese grandmother. The service is fast and the food is authentic Chinese cuisine! It is Chinese comfort food on another level. The chow mein noodles are soft and full of flavor. The The barbecue pork is tender delicious and does not have the red dye like many Chinese restaraunts. The soups are hot and delicious. The tea is full of flavor and poured fresh. I highly recommend this incredible little restaraunt!

Went and tried to eat here for the first time. Said you open at 2 pm. You were closed. Heard from your neighbors that the sign is wrong and you open at 5. Might want to change that.

Finally, a really good Chinese restaurant in McMinnville! Everything, especially the vegetables, are very fresh and wholesome. In the various seafood and chicken dishes I’ve tried so far, the fresh quality of the ingredients aren’t smothered in a heavy, cloying sauce so you can really taste the difference. That’s the advantage of being in farm country — access to the best local produce at a great price point. This is one happy diner. In summary, the food quality and portions are excellent, the service is warm and the dining area is cozy and as neat as a pin. A recommended experience!

So we decided to have take out one night and got David’s. The prices have gone up. It’s waaaay to pricey for Chinese. Plus the quality wasn’t near as good. My husband felt sick after eating it. I’m bummed. The customer service was still good tho.

We chose this place going off of the good reviews, many of which said«best Chinese food in town». If this is the best Chinese food in town I am sad to say I will only be eating Chinese food when I am out of town. Each dish tasted almost exactly the same and had some off taste in it that seemed more reminiscent of Indian food than Chinese. Also, I used the menu in the photos posted above since I couldn’t find a menu online and we were calling in for takeout… it must be outdated — everything was $ 2-$ 3 more expensive than the prices in the photo. Since we ordered 6 dishes this added up, and I ended up paying about $ 20 more for a mediocre dinner than I have paid before for GREAT Chinese food.

I should be giving myself a low Unilocal one-star rating for thinking I could find decent Chinese takeout in farm/wine country. Don’t understand the high marks from other Unilocalers, different chef? Who knows… All I know is, we threw everything out, after a few bites. Just inedible… :( Would I return? You kidding?

Once you try David’s, you’ll never go back to any of the other Chinese restaurants in McMinnville. It’s that delicious. I reccommend general Tso’s chicken and potstickers. The chicken tastes fresh, crispy on the outside and tender and moist on the inside. The sauce is flavorful and tangy perfectly balanced with sweet and spicy notes. As for the potstickers, they are thee best I’ve ever had! Large, always filled with fresh veggies and the perfect sauce to harmonize. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Used to be great and was very authentic, now it’s just overpriced greasy Chinese food. Not worth the time.

David’s serves THEBEST Chinese food in Mac. It’s always fresh and exquisite. The General Tso’s tofu is delicate and hearty. The shrimp lo mein is light and robust without drowning in soy sauce and salt. The best feature is the server, David’s wife is very cool; a total Chinese mom who is warm and welcoming — and full-on no nonsense. The building and ambiance aren’t great(very Chinese that way), but the food and service more than make up for it.

What a gem! We read the few reviews available and decided to take a chance, wow we were glad we did! From outside it doesn’t look like much, not bad just a strip mall kind of vibe, but inside its clean, neat, cozy but not at all cramped… nice. The server was super friendly, what a sweet lady! Then the food, oh yum! I don’t mean to gush, but the food was fabulous. Most of the same dishes offered in other Chinese resaurants but so much better tasting you would not think they were the same at all. I had sweet and sour pork and fried rice, the pork was tender, coating crispy and the sauce was NOT your standard orange goo, it had a dark, rich color, complex flavors, a nice balance of sweet and tangy and almost a buttery taste. The rice was bright and moist without being sticky, and very flavorful; you could actully see and taste the egg bits. I also had some of my husband’s Chicken Chow Mein and oh my goodness… delicious! Fresh vegies, tender thin noodles, and so much flavor!!! We will definity make this our go to Chinese place and highly recommend it. A bonus for me is my office is 2 blocks away. Lunch options just improved a lot!

Authentic flavors, fresh ingredients, friendly service… Yes the location is odd, but the best places usually are. Spring Rolls rule. Majorly affordable. Kid-friendly. Dude. Everybody should support David’s… McMinnville’s crown jewel.

This is hand’s down the best Chinese food I’ve had. My husband and I can’t say enough on how good and fresh the food is here. The owners are wonderful people and just make you feel extremely welcome. They only cook with the freshest of vegetables(per the owner they shop the farmers markets daily). They have tons of vegan options here which is great being I am one as well as other choices for meat eaters. Again, can’t say enough, best food around.

Fresh food that doesn’t all taste alike once it’s covered in sauce(my complaint about many Chinese places.) My favorite Chinese in Mac, so far. Try the Lunch Special«D»… So tasty. And the spring/egg roll is delish, too!

We ate at David’s last night and it was great. The food was fresh, well seasoned and is pretty authentic. Less Americanized for sure. I had the Shrimp Chow Mein and it was delicious. Not drowning in some unidentifiable sauce, crisp vegetables and perfectly cooked shrimp. Dan had his favorite Mongolian Beef, it was spicy enough at medium to make sweat pop out on his forehead; just as he liked. This is not a fancy place. It is a true Mom and Pop and daughter business. Excellent service itch a heart of gold. Aside from the screaming child — please, if your child is that young and a screamer, get it to go or get a babysitter. Definitely a step up in Chinese dining in Mac!

If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. Wanted to like it, but can’t find anything to like. Flavors were off, too much grease, prices were high, silverware was dirty, tea was weak, server hovered around us asking questions every 2 minutes in incomprehensible English and nervously shifted our plates around on the table.

A new Chinese restaurant in town offering a slightly more authentic menu. ~This business has not been open long and so I hope the deficiencies will be rectified as time goes on. First off the location is right along 99W which makes it easy to get to and find but unfortunately leaves it with little parking. However, it shouldn’t be hard to find a spot to park on a nearby street. The staff is very friendly and greeted us warmly when we entered. The menu is not small but neither is it as expansive as most restaurants. I ordered a combination plate which came with two entrees and a choice of pork fried rice or chow mein. I ordered sweet and sour pork(so I could compare it to others in town) and General Tso Chicken with pork fried rice. The waitress was very attentive and the food arrived quickly.(However we were the only ones there at lunchtime) The portions were a bit smaller in comparison to what you get at other places in town. However it was still plenty to take a little home. It was priced a little higher. The food quality varied but the ingredients were all very fresh. The pork fried rice was great and easily the best in town. The sweet and sour pork was par for the course as is usual for such a common dish. The General Tso Chicken however left a little to be desired and did not sit well with my stomach. My coworker’s food also was a mixed bag The building itself is nice while being on the small side. But it is comfortable and quiet. Conclusion: While some dishes are better and more authentic(more vegetables and not just dousing everything in a thick sauce), some leave something to be desired. The price also needs to be reduced or the portions/quality increased. The wait staff will need to speed up a little to handle a large crowd but ad they are new, I don’t see that as being a problem. It is good to have another option in town, but the jury is out as to whether they will be good enough and draw enough of a crowd to remain.
