Simply Fresh

When we went there, the prices were totally out of whack. The genre of the place is confused. Is it fresh and healthy? BBQ? Or euro café? And they did not quite have the service right. It was hard to get utensils, condiments, etc. Maybe it will get better with time.

Such good food and lovely service. Homemade pastries, gelato, amazing coffee. The pulled pork barbeque is amazing! And the bun was brioche. Crazy good. Homemade coleslaw, Mac and cheese, and they make their own baked beans! Everything is homemade. Gorgeous little patio out front and flowers everywhere! Menu also includes gluten free options and breakfast!

This place is adorable! I’m so glad I found it. They have delicious food and very friendly staff. I’ll definitely be coming here more often!

I want to support Simply Fresh, and I’ll be back to try them again, but I can’t say I was impressed. The cheeseburger I ordered today was tasty, but the meat portion was really small – no more than a few mouthfuls. Lots of bun, tomatoes and lettuce, but not so much on the burger itself. The fries were undercooked as well, so I couldn’t eat them.

This restaurant is an adorable little place with outdoor seating and a pastry counter. I ordered the beef/​lamb gyro and collard greens. As someone from the deep south, I’m very particular about my collard greens and these were cooked very well. They weren’t extremely wilted but were good nonetheless. The gyro was flavorful and my only issue with it was that the meat wasn’t a bit tough and I had trouble taking small bites. They serve Illy coffee, which is also very good, and great pastries. I’ll definitely be back.

New to McLean. Thought I would try and boy was I disappointed. Slow service and weak food. Items were fresh but not tasty. Service was really appallingly slow

I didn’t realize this place took over the restaurant that was formerly Boss Hogs but I was pleasantly impressed with the barbecue. The chopped pork was the best I have ever had and the side of beans and potato salad were very generous. You get what you pay for here. The ambiance is much improved, it is very clean, and their homemade bbq sauces are divine! I’ll be going here more often and have already recommended it to a few friends. Nicely done!

I ordered the Beef/​Lamb Gyro which by no means was Greek in taste. That being said, I did enjoy it once I set my expectations aside. I would order it again. My wife ordered the Pulled Chicken Sandwich which was underwhelming. The chicken was moist however it had a taste that seemed a bit off, probably from the process used in cooking it. The barbecue sauce also wasn’t memorable. That being said, the service was great (we did carryout), and the woman that took the order (which I believe was the owner… if not the manager) was extremely helpful. I would come back however we tend to be more European and eat late (which would present a problem with their 7pm closing time). My wife may eat here again, but probably would try something different.

My husband, 3 year-​old, and I went to Simply Fresh for breakfast for the first time. I think we found another great spot for us to go to in McLean. The 6 month old restaurant was very clean, the folks were friendly and accommodating to children, and the food and coffee were great! The environment was casual and relaxing. I highly recommend it for a casual and leisurely breakfast. Looking forward to trying their lunch and dinner menus.

Loved my pesto/​mozzarella panini. Absolutely divine! The Caffe Late was delicious, better than Starbucks. Staff was extremely accommodating and sweet. Fresh atmosphere — I’ll definitely go back soon.

I had high hopes for this attractive newish business but was sorely disappointed. My falafel sandwich was mushy and fell apart about a third of the way through. The falafel itself was not particularly flavorful. The fattoush salad was shredded iceberg with shreds of tomato, cucumber, possibly green pepper and (I don’t know how they did this) small limp brown squares of what I assume was toasted pita.

I have been here twice so far. The first time I got the pulled pork sandwich and today I got the falafel. The pulled pork was decent although pretty oily. I liked the falafel a bit better, although it could have had stronger flavor. The prices seem pretty consistent with the area. I appreciated the outdoor seating — nice on a pretty autumn day.
I work from home so I am always on the lookout for places where I can extend my lunch into a good work session. The wifi at Simply Fresh is free and worked well. The person behind the register actually came over to make sure I got on okay (nice service).
I think the worst thing about this place is the music. It was too cold to sit outside today so I sat inside. I don’t think I’ve ever left a restaurant because of the music selection before, but I just couldn’t tune it out. All through lunch I had to listen to super sappy 80s ballads along the lines of Rick Astley, Air Supply, and the sound tracks to Karate Kid 2 (Glory of Love) and Dirty Dancing (Hungry Eyes). Ugh. I’m not picky with music, but this was just so bad. I’m not sure what clientele they are targeting with this music selection, but it isn’t me. I might return when its nice enough to eat outside, or for take-​out, but I probably won’t be a regular unless the music gets an upgrade.

So excited about this place in McLean! Fresh food panini, gyro, falafel, and specialty platters. Great salads, delicious gelato, and my favorite illy coffee!
