Salon Michel & Spa

A fantastic salon. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Caitlin takes her time to listen to what I want but also gets creative when I say I trust her to do whatever. I have thick, curly hair and she gives me cuts that are manageable and versatile. And when I say I’m growing it out and just want a trim… she never cuts too much! I highly recommend this salon. The prices and services are great.

A friend recommended this salon to me and I’m so glad I decided to give it a try! It’s so hard for me to find someone who can cut curly hair the right way without using thinning sheers and doing excessive layers. Caitlin does an amazing job at cutting my hair so it’s versatile and I’m able to wear it curly or straight. I’ll definitely continue going here!

Happened to hear about this place through word of mouth. Scheduled an appointment with Caitlin who is very friendly along with the rest of the staff. Timing was prompt as I walked in and immediately sat down in the chair to have a cut. She first washed my hair before starting the process which is nice because it took out all the product I already had in and showed all the defects such as my cowlicks and receding hairline that she was able to work around. Not a lot of people catch this as I often walk away with a patch of uncut hair lol.
This time I walked away 100% satisfied which I can’t say happens a lot when it comes to getting a hair cut. Will defiantly be going back! If you go, say Ed sent you!

Zizi is the best. The only cons is that I live far now and can’t go often. But the service is always devine.

I love looking at Unilocal before I try a new place, but have never felt particularly compelled to write a review myself. However, I had a really great experience here and thought it was fair to share my thoughts.
I received a spa gift card and by chance used it here. I opted to get highlights (for the first time ever) and a haircut (including creating bangs) from Zizi and it’s absolutely the best haircut I’ve ever had. The highlights were perfect and not so dramatic that I have to worry about maintaining them. She cut my hair according to the way it falls naturally, so it looks fantastic and is easy to maintain. I have received so many compliments on my hair since then. I will definitely go back!

I am new to the area and needed a place for waxing. I give this place three stars because the actual service was great, but the receptionist was slightly rude and didn’t seem to know much about the services offered when I called. Also, they don’t accept tips on credit cards — which is just annoying. It’s in a weird location that is hard to find, unless you’ve been there before. Give yourself time to find it.

They literally saved my wedding. I was referred by a friend a month before my wedding. The person who was supposed to do our hair backed out at the last minute. I called and they immediately scheduled me for a consultation. By the time I left the consultation, I knew this was the shop but, when they did my full trial, I was stunned at how beautiful they made me look. Zizi did an amazing job with my crazy curly hair and my Matrons of Honor. A younger woman made my Jr. bridesmaids not only look gorgeous but, they had a blast with her doing their hair. Kudos to the team. I am coming back for my hair cuts and color soon.

I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to write a review for Salon Michel! I have been going to see Michel religiously every 6 – 8 weeks for over 2 years now. I tried him after a recommendation from a friend, and have never been happier with my hair. He does exactly what I want — and even when he tries something a little different, I always love it. Better yet, he looks at the client’s sense of personal style and lifestyle and cuts your hair accordingly — he really gets that I want my hair to be «pretty» but still «slightly fashion forward.»
The atmosphere is fantastic, the staff is warm, funny and sweet. They use and sell great hair products that are chemical free. My hair is in the best shape it’s been in for years, since I’ve been going to Michel and using their products.
Check them out… you won’t be disappointed!

Great staff and leadership. Outstanding atmosphere and ambiance. Friendly and talented people who care about the clients, and it shows. The location, interior design are also excellent.

After months of searching for the right Salon, and being constantly disappointed. I had a friend recommend Salon Michel. I’m the type of guy who cares about his hair and will not settle for some barber shop. I look forward to the shampooing, as well as the time the stylist takes to make recommendations and listen to what I’m looking for. I can’t stand assembly lines, that get you in and out as fast as they can.
So I make an appointment with Salon Michel, and right off the bat, the phone conversation was great. The location was very easy to find. I didn’t realize this but they had moved the Salon right down the street. I didn’t get a chance to see the old Salon, but their new Salon was amazing. It had a very inviting atmosphere. As soon as I walk in, I’m greeted, and they ask me if I would like anything to drink. (Coffee, tea, Soda, water, etc.) I also found out that they offer free wifi while you wait. This was nice as I sat down and enjoy a nice cup of tea, while checking my email.
They take me back to get my hair shampooed and I’m not sure what her name was, but she did a great job! Come to find out the shampoo they used was chemical free, and natural. I never really thought about this until I asked what they were using. You could definitely tell the difference. They finish up and take me to the chair.
I’m greeted by Michel himself, this guy was amazing. He asked me what I wanted, what I was going for, and made some recommendations. I went for it. Long story short, Michel took care of me. At last I finally found someone who knew how to get it right! I never felt rushed, he took his time and overall I was completely satisfied. I found out that Michel has been doing this for a long time, with a great story behind it. He started cutting hair at a Salon, saved his money up and started his own Salon with his wife. He is hard working and he puts his heart into it. This is reflected by all of his employees who also make sure their clients are treated like royalty.
Overall if you’re looking for a Salon that will take care of you from the moment you make the appointment to the moment you leave, this is the place. I definitely plan to continue going here, and highly recommend anyone else who looking for something new to try Salon Michel!

I work in McLean and decided to buy a gift certificate for my girlfriend for hair services.
My girlfriend absolutely loved the services and continues to use product that she gets exclusively from the salon. I decided to stop by their location during her visit there to say hi. I was impressed by the attention to detail given to the the salon facility itself; It was spotless and extrmely well thought out in its design and décor. I sat on a big comfy counch and munched on snacks while I waited for my girlfriend to finish up.
She looked beautiful when she was finished with her hair and makeup and she hasn’t stopped talking about the experience since.
As a boyfirend, for a girlfriend, I would highly recommend salon michel and plan on buying another gift certificate in the future.

Waited 45 mins past my appt. No apology or anything. When I got into the massage room, the place was filthy, sheets all over the floor and towels. The front desk staff did not seem friendly, especially the older lady with short hair. Do your self a favor, dont go here.

I went to Salon Michel after learning of them at an event for breast cancer. My usual salon was always booked and was becoming frustrating so i decided to give it a try. I was slated with Zizi for color and she was amazing. It was the first time my hair did not seem orange-​y and my hair has felt healthier since she started coloring. I completely trust her and her abilities and she never makes me cut my hair if I don’t want to :). I would reccomend Zizi to anyone especially those that are interested in going lighter in color. Thank you Salon Michel!

My sister recommended Salon Michel and couldn’t sing its praises enough. After moving out to DC I decided to give it a whirl. I was a little wary about finding a super fabulous hip cut in McLean (sorry, sorry, I’m fully anti-​VA) and I should have trusted my instincts.
I had my hair cut by Michel, who you would expect to be the best person at the salon. He’s one of those guys that is obviously very full of himself, speaks with a ridiculous accent, and talks about your hair like it has it’s own personality. Kind of like Jonathan Antin from Blowout, but not nearly as hot/​cool/​badass. Just lame.
I liked the size and feel of the salon, but that was about it. They had some highschoolers as receptionists who were utterly worthless and I waited quite a long time for my appointment. My cut was pretty bad, I felt like I had a mullet because the ends were so super thin. When I got my hair cut again my new stylist asked who the hell had put this «shelf» in my hair. Not a good look. The blowdry is usually my favorite part of getting my hair cut but I immediately put it in a ponytail when I left the salon. He had given me what I think of as Texan hair: reeeeeal big on top, flips out at the end, and a whole lot of hairspray. Not a good look. My sister always had good experiences with Salon Michel, but I will never be back.
