Just went here for the first time and will definitely be back. The atmosphere was fun. We went on a Saturday for dinner and there was a magician performing card tricks for different tables — he was pretty good! The pork tamales were AMAZING! Loved the chips and salsa, and the chicken chimichanga was pretty good as well. I

Aparicio’s has a great upstairs bar. Casual and friendly crowd. I think my friends and I are starting a Wed night tradition upstairs where they have a DJ who cannot be stumped! 10pm — Midnight. One thing. I was disappointed to learn the kitchen closed at 9:30pm but the friendly staff made us the biggest«crazy nacho» plate ever to accommodate our hunger pangs. If more people come hang out, they’ll probably open up the full menu!

Been here a few times, I love the downtown location. Once there was a lot of water leaking from a pipe in the ceiling… A little pricey but I love the fact that they have barbacoa and menudo on the menu everyday of the week! It’s a little greasy but it’s so good!

We went here on March 28th, 2010. My sister in law was in town and dying for some Mexican food. We originally wanted to go to San Miguel Grill on 380. But when we got there, we realized they were closed on Sundays. I suggested Aparicio’s because it was close by, and we had been there before and found it ok. This ended up being the worst Mexican food I’ve had in many, many years. The guacamole we ordered was full of the black, rotten parts that you sometimes find when cutting open an avocado. It was totally unappetizing and inedible. They credited my bill for this, when I said it was inedible, to their credit. I ordered a chimichanga, which tasted as though it had been fried in year-old oil. The oil temperature must have been too hot, because it was beyond overcooked on the outsid, while the inside was full of what looked like unmelted velveeta cheese cubes. I took 2 bites and couldn’t finish it. It was horrible. Both times we have been here, little fruit flies have been buzzing all around our table. With so many good mexican places in North Texas, save your money and spend it elsewhere. We wouldn’t eat here again if they were giving away free meals.

We have gone many, many times to this Tex-Mex place, for four reasons: convenient location, lack of a wait for a table, good food, and the outstanding interest the manager took when our son had food allergies. I will agree that some items seems pretty steeply priced(the tacos, particularly, though they are wonderful), but the overall value is worth it.

The husband and I disagree on this one. I like Aparicio’s and he feels that it is too expensive for what you get. The last time we went, we had the chips & queso appetizer and fajitas for two as well as some drinks. Needless to say, there was a healthy bill to go along with that dinner. I don’t think it was that out of line with what other Mexican restaurants charge but he would rather go down to the Jalapeño Tree instead(which we both love) where the food is better. The difference to me is that we can walk to Aparicio’s but have to drive to the Jalapeño Tree so that probably wouldn’t apply to most other folks. I like their bar but it is a little dark and it is a typical bar ambience.

RUNAWAY! The service was great but it was very slow and we had to wait for someone to notice we were there. I hear that happens every time. I have no idea how you can screw up stuffed jalapenos but these must have been battered in dirt and fried in swamp water. The seafood in the ceviche tasted like it needed a quick trip to the gynecologist for some antibiotics! That smell was horrifying! I hope it makes a better bar. Next time just drinks and chips for us!

The wait staff seemed to be trying to hang lights while we were there, and do a set up for a band that evening. There wasn’t much going on in there, I’ll admit it was 2 o’clock on a sleepy Saturday afternoon and we were enjoying an afternoon cocktail and some tacos. It was pretty quiet, only 2 or 3 other parties in the bar. I heard a loud crash, and see the server eat it and go down the stairs on his backside — don’t worry, he was okay but I have to admit it was a quick shock and then the bar group broke out in laughter. Unfortunate for him to fall in front of a few that are having cocktails mid afternoon, not a very sympathetic crowd. Don’t lie, you would let a giggle escape or two! So the server stood back up and took a bow, which in my opinion is the best way to handle a public embarassment of sorts. That was the excitment of the afternoon, the food was decent, the prices were great and the staff was helpful and put on a lovely show.

Another very enjoyable visit to this cute little Tex/Mex spot in McKinney this weekend. We went back to the area to finally take the tour of the North Texas Historic Center, determined this time to not get sidetracked by libations and munches as in our previous sojourns.(And we did make the tour, and it was fascinating. Review to follow) Won’t repeat my previous review of atmosphere, etc., just the food and service. But, it’s a cute spot, and one of our faves. Typical for me, the«Queen» of top shelf margs, I ordered their«Perfect Margarita» and as on previous visits, it was. NOTE — the servers have to go upstairs to the bar for drinks, which is kinda weird, but they seem to be okay for this. Kevin, the bartender, brought my libation, saying, «this is truly the perfect margarita», and… OMG, it was. I’ve had many(and I mean MANY) all around Big D, and this one is one of the best. Strong is an understatement, but smooth and tasty it goes down. One’ll do you, even if you are not the designated driver. Sit back, close your eyes, slide into your chair, and savor the golden flavor of Grand Marnier, with two tequilas. Hmmm, heaven in a large goblet. Okay, food is a must to stay sane. We once again had the Queso Supremo with ground beef, guac, pico and sour cream. This is some of the creamiest queso I’ve had anywhere, and not your often found«orange» cheese, but light and so smooth. With the soft corn tortillas, it’s almost a meal in itself. We also ordered the Spinach & Cheese Quesadillas, with onions & mushrooms, and it was awesome. So flavorful and a huge portion. Both apps were indeed a meal for two, along with the chips and salsa. I’m almost to a «4» star rating, call it a 3.5, considering the consistency and reliability of our experiences with this restaurant; service is very attentive and options are outstanding. We take day road trips often, and I’m sure we’ll end up again in the area, and spot our favorite table by the window. Just lurve repeat performances !!

A great place for lunch. Arrived 12:00 Friday, and was promptly seated. The chips and salsa were fresh. They have a nice selection of reasonably priced lunch specials. I had the chicken enchiladas with Verde sauce. The rice was good. I opted for the black beans which were nicely seasoned with cilantro, oinions and tomatoes. Good food, good value, nice place.

I just went there and even though they claim they served breakfast all day when I went there weren’t any eggs which pretty much made all breakfast items obsolete. Pretty annoying since I really wanted mexican breakfast tacos and this is the only place I could find. I will go back but shall wisely call in my order to go. Also, I noticed a funny thing that breakfast tacos aren’t actually on their menu in the restaurant so you just have to be in the know and I guess hope your server knows what ingredients they offer. I knew bc it says they have them on their website.

This place has good food. Very inconsistent though. SOme times its great, some times it sucks. Service is just as spotty. Some nights its off the scale, and some nights it doesn’t exist.
