Love this place– only cool 40+ hipsters go here. Wished they had alcohol here, though. I’ll just walk over to The Blue Onion for that after, but first I’m going to have a delicious Roast Beef with Au jus sauce with my Root Beer.

Hopping and shaking just like a NY Deli! Met the very attentive owner working hard and emulating exactly what customer service is all about. EVERY person in this deli was attentive, super efficient & fast! Loved the huge variety on the menu. The décor reminded me of a small, narrow deli in NYC. Everything was fast-moving which matched how I was moving for the day. Contemplated on taking my food to go, but seeing how fast they moved, I was able to have a quick seat, chow down and get on to the next item on my to-do list. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back and will probably try catering from them in the future.

I used to love the New York Delj I would go to eat there everyday, but it seems to have gone down some :(, my meat was of a weird color and tasted old, even the potato salad wasn’t as good as it used to be, and even the chicken soup they seem to substitute it with Campbell soup some, I’d have to say The Harlingen one has yet to Disappoint, hopefully they fix there problems because I’d love to eat there on a daily.

Great place to visit for fresh sandwiches. Their tortilla soup was very tasty. I usually start my review with 4 stars for great staff and either move up to 5 or move down to 3 depending on the quality of food. Let me tell you the staff is very pleasant and knowledgable of their menu and their food is just great. I got the Manhattan and its delicious!

Delicious food and super friendly staff. Had the Reuben which was perfectly done and loved the potato salad. Husband had the deluxe french dip and he didn’t leave a crumb. Wait staff anticipated our needs and wanted our feedback. Great place for lunch!

This place is the definition of a deli, I’ve never had a bad experience here, and love everything that i’ve tried on the menu. You can’t go wrong with anything that you order :) Also, the staff is super friendly and helpful.

I used to frequent their Brownsville location quite a bit. The Reuben never disappoints. Come to think of it all their sandwiches are delicious. Highly recommend it.

This place is the real deal. I wish they would open a location in Austin. I had the Philly cheesesteak and it was great. My husband had the BLT and it had an insane amount of really good quality bacon. My friend had the Reuben sandwich and it was legit New York. We definitely recommend and wish we could come back more often but we live too far away.

Lived up to the other reviews! Beatles theme is fun. Probably nothing bad on the menu but stick to the pastrami or a Reuben.

This place is the best sandwich spot in town. When it comes to delis, this casual restaurant is the best thing since sliced bread… pun intended. Side Note: If you’re a Beatles fan, you’ll love the décor.

This is probably one of my favorite places to go to for lunch here in McAllen. It’s Beatles themed, it’s decorated to the brim with Beatles memorabilia and the food is fantastic! Although one thing I might add is that it tends to be pretty warm in there during the hot times of the month(which is practically year round down here) so you might want to dress light. Also, lunch hour tends to get pretty packed as well, even during the week days so if you want to meet up with a friend there for lunch at 1pm, you better get there at 12:45ATLEAST because parking is crazy in the area. Over all, this place is awesome and theirs a reason why so many people go, it’s goooooood

In the spring and summer of 1964 I lived and worked in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It was for a college-level co-op job. As a student I did not have the facilities or inclination to prepare meals more complex than a bowl of cereal, so I needed an affordable alternative for meals. The solution was a wide selection of New York delicatessen establishments. Later in life my daughter attended college and has since worked in New York City. She introduced me to the famous Carnegie Deli. I think this qualifies me as a very experienced reviewer of New York style delicatessen food. The New York Deli II in McAllen had the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had outside of New York City. The quality was at least equal with that of the Carnegie Deli. The pastrami was perfectly moist, with enough fat to make it extremely tasty. The Carnegie Deli puts more pastrami into their sandwich, but that quantity was ridiculous and reflected in the price. I didn’t try the New York Deli II corned beef yet, but I am certain I will return soon to give it a try. The New York Deli II in McAllen has one big advantage over most New York Delis. It has ample seating, laid out to minimize the noise level. Most New York delis have a maximum of one or two tables, and the other delis are so packed you have to wait in line to eat, and when you do it’s quite noisy. In addition, the management of the local New York Deli II was very friendly and attentive. I have no hesitation in giving the top recommendation to the New York Deli II in McAllen.

This place is one of my favorites! I highly recommend the DD’s Choice… it’s the best! Their fries are great too. My wife likes their salads. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly; they are the most helpful of any restaurant I’ve been to in the RGV. The owner is present most hours, which also adds to the overall quality of the place. Suggestions: Turn the A/C up during the hot summer days and take down the«we prefer cash» paper sign on the register.

Very good food. I wanted to try the Reuben but opted for the club and added avocado and jalapeños. My husband got the fish po’ boy which was phenomenal. If your kids are big eaters don’t order the chicken fingers as they are too small. The coleslaw is a bit too creamy. The fries are good. My other daughter really like the grilled cheese with ham. I like the décor and the broccoli and cheese soup was the best.

Staff is very friendly. They know the menu and are able to make personal observations, which I like since I for one rely on the opinions of others. Food is very tasty. Got the Ruby, Ruby! Excellent suggestion by my server. Also got the Navy Bean soup based on other reviews, and I was not disappointed. Wish I found this place sooner. I will definitely be coming back next time I am in town.

We love New York Deli. The food is excellent. This is a real deli that blows away the chain deli’s like McAlisters or Jason’s. All of their sandwiches are very flavorful and are made with top quality ingredients. My absolute favorite is the steak sandwich. Their fries are the BESTINTHEVALLEY! Their soups are also favorites. The owner and staff are very attentive and know the regulars by name. And if for any reason you want something that’s not on the menu or want to create your own sandwich just ask, they are more than happy to help you out.
