This place looks nice. It has a nice outdoor seating area and fast, friendly service. We were given menus and had our orders taken promptly. It took a while longer to get our food than most Mexican restaurants. The food was pretty blah. I had steak fajitas which were decent. Kids had quesadillas and enchiladas which were pretty bland. All meals came with rice, beans, shredded lettuce, sliced tomato, and a cup of sour cream. I’d say the tad bit of sour cream was the best part. The mild red sauce for the enchiladas tasted a bit like canned pasta sauce. I hate to give a poor review for a place that seems to have a lot right going for it. But it is what it is.

I sure do like this place. The food is reliable and good. Service is always great. Burritos are huge. Seems like each time I have been here they are out of something(limes, orange juice, etc) but they are so friendly about it, you don’t even mind. We’ve also stayed at the hotel upstairs(Alexander Hotel) and it is the most fun and good value.

I will give this place two stars if only for the friendly service and the ambiance and history of the building the restaurant resides in. Otherwise, I’m not sure how this place can be considered«Mexican» food. I’ve eaten at many, many ethnic restaurants serving Latin or Spanish, even Mexican style food and the food at this restaurant doesn’t even come close to being in that category. After you ordered — not before as is the case of most Mexican restaurants, you were given a large plastic soup bowl with what they consider salsa on a plate surrounded with chips. The reason you don’t receive your salsa first is they charge you for chips and salsa if you’re just there having drinks. Soda or otherwise. I would’ve been extremely disappointed if I had paid for it… The salsa was orange and had a consistency more like a gazpacho than salsa. It was very odd tasting. No spice from peppers and no visible vegetables inside of this orange goo. The taste was similar to cold spaghetti-O’s. It literally was just a orange thick liquid. It should be mentioned that my beau ordered a soda and I had a beer. My beer came in a bottle and before I could even take a drink the server grabbed it away from me saying it had«gross, dirt or something» on the bottle. I looked down and around the rim was a white and grey film that almost looked like cob webs or a rust from the bottle being in the cooler for too long. Obviously no one is rotating stock. Thank goodness I didn’t take a sip before he could take it away, I shiver thinking about whatever that was inside or all over my mouth.(I now look at any beer bottles before I take a drink, it’s such a mindless thing, drinking a beer, you don’t even realize that you don’t do it!) Next came the tacos. We weren’t super hungry so opted for just two beef tacos for him and one chicken for me. I ordered my single taco with just rice. He just ordered the two tacos. The taco surprisingly had the white crumbly cheese on top instead of the standard shredded of most knock off«Mexican» restaurants. The chicken was white meat, and shredded, but very dry and flavorless. Nothing but chicken, cheese and lettuce came on the taco. It was extremely bland and flavorless. The beef tacos were just ground beef and he said didn’t have much flavor as well. The rice was also orange in color, had square orange«carrots» and a few pieces of corn mixed in it. Zero flavor and was very dry. Our server was very kind and attentive and I appreciated his efforts, he wasn’t the one making the food. Overall, I would say if you’re not used to amazingly good ethnic Mexican food than give this place a try and you won’t be disappointed as you won’t know the difference. But if you’ve had true Mexican cuisine and you eat here you’re in for a world of disappointment.

Best salsa and chicken quesadilla I’ve ever had along with an amazing mango blended margarita yum!

The food here is an Iowa interpretation of Mexican food. Contemplate that for a moment. Not sure what that looks like? An enchilada where the vegetables appeared to be a frozen food bag of assorted vegetables: corn, carrots, green beans, and peas. Yep. And brick cheese. And the sauce had absolutely no flavor at all. The food was well-prepared. But it was nowhere near what I would expect nor call Mexican. I’m going to play the Chicago card. I know good Mexican/Latin American fare. This wasn’t it. My dining companion is from the Central Valley of California. She felt I was being too generous in my assessment. Latinos will do just fine if you just need a bite to eat and just can’t wait until you get to a bigger town. Otherwise, take a pass if you want Mexican food.

I don’t want to hurt there business but I was unimpressed. Tacos were not very good, thought they were overpriced, and I was the only one there for lunch. Floor was dirty, cleaning up while I was eating. There house taco sauce was flavor less. Had Tom and Jerry on the bar Tv, what adult wants to here that? I wouldn’t go back, I can make better Mexican food at home. It’s a classic building and I love Mexican food I was glad I only ordered 2 tacos, couldn’t finish them. The lunch menu is to expensive in my opinion. Nothing on the menu sounded good to me sorry I stopped.

Wow, can you say worst experience without even getting in the door! we tried to go here 45 minutes before the closing time. As 6 of us were walking in the manager is yelling to the server to tell them no more. After questioning the waitress she told us that the manager makes the decisions and they would not serve us any food.

We love the chicken fajitas and chorizo breakfast burrito. We have the chicken fajita quesadilla too. We enjoy the staff there as well. We go several times a week during the summer.

Coming from Milwaukee where we have the 5th Ward(Walker’s Point) and all of their wonderful Mexican/Latin restaurants, I wasn’t as impressed as others may be. We were wandering somewhat aimlessly around WI on a beautiful day and decided to hop over the Mississippi and see what we could find. We stopped here for lunch and sat at the bar. Staff was friendly, as was the fellow patron 9(and Brewers fan!) at the bar. We split the enchilada plate(3 enchiladas) and of course had some chips, salsa, a sangria and a margarita. The food was surprisingly slow for a Mexican joint but we weren’t in too much of a hurry. Taste was fine, nothing spectacular but definitely not bad either. The rice and bean portions were considerably smaller than what we typically see but overall it was fairly priced.

This place is a hidden gem and is AWESOME! In town for work and went to eat at this place 3 times and was sad I did not go even more. Menu is expansive and wait staff is very friendly. Please visit, you will not be disappointed.

We had good food and great service here. The waiter, maybe owner, was really on top of his game, very friendly, and we all enjoyed our dishes. Food was ready pretty fast as well. Nothing super special, but solid Mexican, particularly for Iowa. Give it a try.

Latinos Restaurant serves a wide range of delicious Latin-inspired cuisine, including several vegetarian options and a nice range of seafood entrées. The burritos are huge, delicious, and very filling.
