The service was quick and the people were friendly! Best hot dog I’ve had since living here in Boston! I was even able to get my hot dog fixed like back home in NC, with mustard, chili, and onions! Back home we call it, «Carolina Style»! So good! I will be back! Perfect food for this nice crisp Halloween night!

This review is only for the fish sandwich. That’s the only thing I’ve had on the menu. Not sure I want to try anything else, when one thing works, it just works. It’s the only place around town I’ll have a fish sandwich. It’s huge! The fish is fried well, crunchy on outside moist on inside. You will always ask for extra tartar sauce because it’s so much fish! No complaints here. It’s a good sandwich. Only been to the one on American Legion Highway. Service is good. Enjoy.

Great beef footlong dogs here. Slightly buttered toasted New England style buns. I loved the flavor of these dogs as they weren’t overpowered by the chili. Service was quick and friendly.

I grew up in Mattapan and was really psyched to visit Simco’s after a 40 year hiatus. Simco’s is known for its foot long all beef hot dogs. The hot dog was perfectly cooked on the grill and kudos to the buttered bun. The hot dog was just a little too salty but that is a small price to pay for a perfectly cooked dog. The onion rings were also perfectly cooked in a corn meal batter. They were a little under salted, but that was easily corrected. Skip the Rasberry Lime Rickey: it was made with a(gasp!) Sprite base as opposed to a soda water base and we had to send it back as way too sweet. I then ordered a mocha frappé: it too was sweet and had a Hershey’s chocolate taste and too little coffee flavor. Nevertheless I was glad to visit this childhood icon . Don’t expect a view, table seating or much ambience. DO expect a perfectly cooked hot dog and the opportunity to support a local institution that has been around for over 50 years. If I could I would score it As a 3.5: Points off for the beverages.

Best hot dogs in town ! Foot long, all beef, perfectly toasted, everytime. 2 for $ 10 with 16 oz bottle of soda.

Ugh. Disgusting. The ingredients are substandard, the grease is everywhere. This place is only good if you’re drunk, because you’ll be throwing it up in an hour anyway, which will improve the food’s quality. If you like greasy, nasty, rotten food that’s dirty and cheap(as in low-quality) then this is the place for you. Ever wonder where«pink slime» is used? Right here. Lips and a**holes. Heart attack city with a side of high blood pressure and stroke. And possibly a bit of cat.

I love the fried clams and onion rings. clams are big and taste so good, if you don’t feel like driving to Quincy for Tony’s Clam Shack, I prefer the American Legion location. I hate that they onky rake cash… wish they would catch up with the times. Not everyone carries cash. Tarter sauce is good too.

I love this place! Everytime I come to Boston this is always my 1st stop! I love the Seafood platter! I can eat off of it for 3 days! I especially love the fact that along with all the food that’s on the platter, they give you a side of tartar sauce! I hate eating seafood and running out of tartar sauce! I just wish that had this place in Atlanta, cause I would eat there every day!

This place is always packed… on 23rd Street inside Madison Square PARK, bring your patience! Sometimes the wait is up to an hour. If you can through faster… the burgers and sides are real good — and I love the ‘Shroom burger — A portobello grilled up with fixins!

Hot dogs, seafood, beverages, burgers, the list goes on. This place is exactly what you need after a late night out, or just for a meal. The strawberry milkshake was delicious, such a shame I couldn’t finish it because of the other food I ordered. I had the hot dog and fried shrimp/clams plate. All of it was good. I love simple places that don’t try to hard, just keep it the way it is. One day i will try everything on the menu.

I gave this place 3 stars because the food was really good but… I got food poisoning! My husband and I couldn’t find a decent place that was open late so we agreed on Simco’s. Surprisingly, it was my first time here even though I heard so much about it while living in Boston. Simco’s is located on a small bridge in Mattapan. It’s a very busy place but the workers are pretty quick. They are famous for their hot dogs but I didn’t think to order one. I got a steak and cheese sub which tasted like perfection expect the bread was toasted too much. Their menu was the typical pizza store menu. Prices were average and they only accept cash. The next day my husband and I both felt sick. He had a pizza and thought it tasted good until we got sick. I’m back and forth about trying this place again, at least to try the hot dogs. Boy, how I miss the Sausage Guy.

For hot dogs, yes, this is as good as it gets. Simco’s by the bridge has been a Mattapan icon probably from at least the 1940’s. This is a very old establishment and the hot dogs have not changed a bit. These hot dogs are specially made just for this restaurant as they always have been. you cannot buy them in a store. The rolls are buttered and grilled just like the old days. No seating, you eat outside standing up. There is a wide window ledge you can use if you wish. These hot dogs have been served here for about 75 years so one would imagine they must be somewhat exceptional, and they are. Check out Simco’s for a walk down memory lane and a taste of Americana.

I feel like anything I get there is delicious! I try not to eat there often but the other day I was craving hot sausage. I had just finished working out but didn’t care. I called ahead and ordered two hot sausages with ketchup, mustard and onion. When you bite into to it the shin is crispy but the sausage is juicy. The perfect amour of heat for me but others do find it a little spicy. Love love love simco’s

Simco’s by the Bridge — the best hot dogs ever! been going there for years ever since my mother used to stop there and get us lollipops on the way to houghtons pond. and believe me that was a very long time ago. anytime i am in the area i will stop there and get a hot dog. you just park in front and walk up to the window to order and then eat in your car or take with you

Hot dog nicely done, with a little bit of snap when you bite into it. Meat has some spicing, not extraordinary. Chocolate shake average, not terribly chocolatey. Onion rings with very light coating, not greasy. However, strangely sweet and bland. Be prepared to add ketchup, pepper, hot sauce, paprika, garlic, whatever.

Fat G. coming in with a review about Simco’s, a place I decided to go to in preparation for another event. Across the street form Jubilee Christian Church, I heard that this place was famous and checked it out for a snack. The place reminds me of Nathan’s in NYC or one of those boardwalk places on the beach. Simco’s is located on a busy main street, but is reachable by the 28 bus. Anyways, their menu was pretty standard. They had the typical fried food stuff — hot dog, pizzas, subs, etc and have their own specials as well. I ordered the Hot Dog basket, which came out to $ 7 and comes with your choice of onion rings or fries. It’s a thinner, but longer hot dog. It was cooked longer and tastes better than ones you get at the market, but not by much more. The bun was buttery and the fries were ok. Service was pretty quick. The only thing I didn’t like was that there wasn’t a seating area and that it was cash only. The nearest ATMs are a block or two away, depending on your bank. I’d probably go there again if I were in the mood for that beach food feel. Recommended for: boardwalk feel, fried foods.
