The businesses in the location where Bagel Time & Deli is located has changed many times since I’ve been living in the area, but this place has survived the longest which means it has to be doing well. This is my parents go-to spot for Bagels. I went with them on a random weekday and it was super busy. Lots of people in and out ordering bagels, sandwiches, etc. I had an Everything bagel w/Veggie cream cheese and the cream cheese had real veggies. The Bagel was good too. Good texture to it and super fresh. Definitely plan to come back when I’m in the mood for bagels.

Best place to get a bagel in central NJ. Bagels are NYC quality and their breakfast sandwiches have the perfect melt to them. None of the other places in the area can compare. Oh and their whitefish salad is pretty fantastic too! I’ve also never encountered anything but friendly service every time I’ve come in(which is quite often)!

Good bagels nasty workers. Not only are the workers nasty, the owner is worse. What a shame to. Do yourself a favor, take a ride to bagel boy. Night and day. Owner is a saint and has this place running like a fine machine.

This tiny bagel /sandwich shop in Matawan has a nice retro décor of the 50’s and 60’s — This was totally unexpected as my low expectations for breakfast became instantly higher after walking through the door. They make custom order breakfast sandwiches, deli sandwiches, and breakfast platters. Like other bagel shops in the area they have soft drinks and fresh brewed coffee which is self serve. Bonus is they have Sriracha bottles everywhere as a condiment in addition to the standard salt, pepper, & ketchup. I ordered an egg white bacon and provolone on a plain bagel plus Sumatra coffee. As a whole the sandwich was ok. Bagel was a little tough, flavor was average. What turned me off in addition to the bagel chewiness is the beef jerky bacon in the sandwich. Bacon tasted fine just not the kind of consistency i like in bacon. It should be either crispy or on the softer side with the nice fat. Overall this place is good. I would like to come back and try the bagel spreads. FYI, this place is tiny, and there’s not much seating. Prices are not too bad.

You. Yes, you. Stop scrolling and read this. You haven’t lived until you get a bagel from Bagel Time. That sentence should just about wrap up this review, but I’m going to elaborate on the excellence of these bagels. Let me back up and give you some background information on my bagel-eating career. I’ve had the legendary bagels from the city before. Black Seed, Absolute Bagels, even Barney Greengrass. Yeah, they’re pretty awesome. But this is Matawan, NJ, and I don’t have $ 15+ to take NJTransit into Manhattan… Then you gotta get a cab or take the subway… Too much of a hassle. The quality of the bagels here are incredibly Incredible. If I could name something that this place is incapable of doing it would be this: they are incapable of getting it wrong. Seriously, their egg everything bagels are on another level completely. Make it a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese and avocado, and you’ll thank me for the rest of your life. The service is fast, polite, and efficient. You make your own coffee, but who knows how you take your coffee better than you anyway? Speaking of coffee, they have the staples you know and love like regular and decaf, hazelnut, French vanilla, plus a nice change in the form of their Sumatra. They’ve also got really good pastries. My knees go weak when I see those blueberry danishes on deck. What’s the moral of this review? Stop reading this and pick yourself up some bagels. Don’t let your dreams be dreams. Yesterday you said you’d go tomorrow. Just do it. You’ll remember the day you first went to Bagel Time as a close second to your wedding day or your kid’s birthday, or that one time driving to work where you hit all greens.

TERRIBLE! The food itself is satisfactory. However, the service stinks and the prices are ridiculously high! I’ve tried this place a few times because it is close to my house and each time I am disappointed. My most recent experience: I ordered two pieces of toast(not bagels) with light flavored creamcheese on both sides open face. $ 7 for this!!! TOAST! I will stick to taking a little further drive to the bagel shop down the street.

Although the bagels are pretty good, the prices aren’t really worth it. $ 10 for a decent size bagel with ham & cheese, 50 cent bag of chips and a small drink. The sandwich alone is about $ 7 which is definitely pricey for not a lot of ham and cheese on a bagel. The staff needs to be more customer service friendly as well because they can be a little cocky. I stood there for a minute with 2 girls behind the counter when I was the only customer in the store before I was attended to.

Would it kill these guys to put bacon on the whole sandwich, or to be a little nicer to the customers? It’s a shame because the bagels are actually pretty good but no effort into the breakfast sandwiches, slow and rude

I’d say they’re the best bagels in Matawan. That said, when you put anything besides butter or cream cheese on them, the bagel no longer is the star, which for me means they’re not THAT good. If I have the time, I go over to bagel boy in Old Bridge, but since that’s a little out of the way, my bagel consumption has gone down. Coffee is decent. Lines are very long, so maybe I’m more particular about my bagels than most people. You wouldn’t ever really want to sit inside at the tables and eat.

I recently moved to Matawan after living in Northern Jersey and since North Jersey has the best bagels anybody could ever ask for, I was searching to see if there is a place that would closely match up. I ordered here once and I never will again. I called in my order and ordered an «everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese». The person who picked up the phone did not speak very good english at all. When I gave him my order, I knew that he did not hear me correctly so I repeated myself several times and said, please make sure it is Vegetable cream cheese. The man on the phone got frustrated with me because I repeated myself several times about what cream cheese I wanted because i KNEW he did not hear me correctly. He eventually pushed me off of the phone and hung up on my mid-sentence. When I arrived, the order was indeed wrong. The man thought I said«regular» cream cheese. When I told them that the order was messed up, they gave me a new bagel which took 10+ minutes to toast and slab veggie cream cheese on and not to mention it was burnt to a CRISP. I barely ate any of it. The least they could have done for screwing up my order was give me a non-burnt bagel. I will not be returning to this bagel shop.

Very good bagels(although not the best in the area). Bagel sandwiches are the best in the area though. It is a little more expensive than most(almost $ 5 for pr, e, & c)

Not worth the wait on the weekends. Was charged for a large coffee was given a medium. When brought to the attention of the owner not even an apology was offered. Ordered a sandwich off the menu, you would think I made it up. Two sandwiches and a coffee for nearly $ 20. Would prefer a sit down breakfast. Will no return. Bagel boy is a much better and safer bet.

Ridiculously awesome bagels! They’re all good, made fresh and local. They even make a good pumpernickel bagel, which is a weak spot for a lot of places. Can’t make up your mind? Do what I do, go with the everything bagel! Haven’t visited the shop … A friend goes out of her way and brings sacks of them to work! You know it’s good when she passes a dozen bagel places and goes out of her way to stop there!

We stopped in to grab a breakfast sandwich on the run and were very impressed. It’s a small little place with a small parking lot that is constantly packed. However, once you enter the doors you step back in time to when people cared about the quality of food and made something you’d love. It’s a small little spot but has the staple breakfast to-go orders. Their bagel selection is vast(and very delicious) and their grill is going non-stop. The décor is right out of the 50’s or 60’s but nicely done and new(just has that vintage look). Their menu board is behind them and the staff is helpful with your orders. It’s priced right so you’re definitely not overpaying. The only negatives are that its a tight squeeze in there and there’s no real organization of a line so it can make ordering an interesting time. This is definitely the place to go for a quick grab-and-go breakfast sandwich.

Stopped by for the first time for a dozen assorted bagels, cream cheese and fresh lox. Place was packed but well worth the wait. Bagels are crispy on the outside just the way I like them and the lox was delicious. Great place! Will be back for more, maybe try the breakfast sandwiches.

They deserve a full star upgrade because, simply, their bagels are phenomenal. Hands down one of the best bagels in the Monmouth County area. It’s everything you want in a bagel — hard exterior with a warm bready inside. In addition to the standard bagel types, they feature a variety of other interesting flavors, such as the mouth-watering super cinnamon bagel. One whiff of the super cinnamon and it will be your choice of bagel. And remember still, beware of the nightmarish parking lot.
