Lius Green Garden, a Chinese restaurant a few blocks from my house, has been around for many years. I have only ordered from it a handful of times for takeout and it is not even my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Massapequas for take out(that may change!). Having no intent to review this restaurant, I was feeling under the weather and thought that Wonton Soup, a half Peking Duck and some Pork Fried Rice would be just what the doctor ordered. So I phoned for delivery, and my order arrived piping hot less than a half hour later. What the hell is going on in that kitchen? The wontons in the soup were paper thin and delicious, not like those thick lead-like ones you see so often. The broth was hot and flavorful, with the perfect balance of «saltiness». The rice was moist, savory and had the perfect amount of pork. The Peking Duck was terrific, perfectly seasoned and with enough non-fatty duck meat to generously fill four pancakes. There was plenty of hoisin sauce and scallions. This meal, before the tip to the delivery guy, was 24 – 25 dollars. This restaurant, once an afterthought, has risen like Lazarus in my estimation. It is now my top Chinese option in the Massapequas so I hope they keep up the quality and retain whoever is cooking.

I get take out here because it’s close to the train station. The Chinese food is edible at best. The noodle dishes(Lomein and Chow fun) are consistently overcooked and gummy. The ribs are fatty and chewy. The woman at the front desk is not very pleasant to deal with and should find another line of work. The one brighter spot(compared to the rest of the food) is the sushi. The spicy tuna rolls, California rolls are pretty OK Not a ringing endorsement but it’s what I got.

Good food and good service. Not too many sit down Chinese restaurants left. This is convenient and good. Like the sizzling steak.

So, this review is not being written with an axe to grind or trying to be malicious. I use to get take out from this place quite frequently as it’s a 2 block walk away from my house. There are 2 other Chinese take out places within the same distance but I was choosing this place as the food was(I emphasize was) amazing even though the cashier had the personality of a shoe. After enjoying many meals from this place, minus a few order errors, a relative had an experience like no other. She ordered shrimp and broccoli(take out, not sit down). Shortly into her meal she sees 2 huge cock roaches. She nearly died. She brings the food back immediately to the place. Their answer was ‘do you want another order’. Yeah, she’s going to reorder more food from a kitchen where she just got 2 cock roaches in her food. They see totally indifferent to this situation. Maybe it’s acceptable from where they come from but not in this country. She got her money back and we have never ordered from this place again. I admit I use to love the sesame beef from this place even though it was a bit expensive. But seeing what I saw was stomach turning to put it mildly. Every time I walk by this place I see quite a few people with take out and would love to share my story. So now I got to New Asian a half a block north of this place as the recent owners make great food and seem to be steady.

Visiting from out of town and ordered two things from menu. I thought the food was overpriced and did not taste that great. Also the description on the menu was not accurate. I got some awful chicken mostly dark and fatty meat with heavy coating. Not at all what I expected and just threw it out. Had rice for dinner. Such a waste of money.

Excellent Chinese food and I’ve tried a lot of places in the area. The food at Lius is always delicious. My personal favorite is the house Lo Mein. The fried rice is darker than most places and the best I’ve ever had. Very flavorful, almost tastes like there’s a hint of cinnamon, and not bland at all. Some other dishes I recommend are general tso’s chicken, Szechuan dumplings(or any of their dumplings), chicken in garlic sauce, any of the soups, cold noodles(they have a peanut butter sauce), really everything I’ve tried has been excellent. The sushi is pretty good from here as well. I’ve had better but it’s definitely quality. Try Kiku in Massapequa for great Sushi. One reviewer said the place is always empty which is kind of true but this place does a lot of take out. Even so I’ve eaten in the restaurant many times. They are very quick and courteous. It’s a good spot if you want a nice quiet meal. I don’t want to make it sound like a ghost town, it’s just not a hoppin and loud place. The décor can be updated. I get take out from Lius every week and I highly recommend the food. Food: 4⁄5 Atmosphere: 2⁄5 Service: 4⁄5

I have been going to this restaurant for many years. I have never been disappointed. The food is fresh, they will make dishes adding or withdrawing anything you wish. Service is outstanding.

This is one of my favorite sit-down Japanese/Chinese restaurants in town. The menu is very diverse and has a wide range of appetizers, dinner specials and a very hefty sushi menu. I usually end up getting the crabmeat cheese wontons even though they always give you a bowl of noodles and hot tea for starters. The service is always adequate but the place is very small and has outdated furniture.

My wife and I have had a tough time finding a decent Chinese restaurant/takeout in the area and this place USED to be our best option, though never great. But now even this place is the pits. Their takeouts generally contain only one little duck sauce pack and one fortune cookie — if any. You would think the duck sauce was made of gold the way they don’t like to give it out even when you ask for more. Besides that annoyance, our experience has been their spare ribs are so fatty we throw them away, their fried rice is totally dry, the wantons in their soup are so overcooked that they are like mush, and they shorted us on the 4 mooshu pancakes — we only got 3. The restaurant is almost always deserted — which tells you something right there. We’re done with this place. It should go out of business. STAYAWAY!
