What a nice looking restaurant! Took a seat at the bar, saw the food everyone was ordering and had to try something! The bartender told us that they do offer half portions of some of the appetizers so we chose the veal meatballs and the seasoned fries. These went so well with the craft beer selection they offer. The meatballs were amazing! Since you are inside Foxwoods and there are so many restaurants to try, I would suggest coming here, splitting this appetizer, have a drink, and move on. Will definately be back!

I recently visited Alta Strada again, we were there before the«rush» of diners and had made a reservation in advance. We were seated right away and at a nice roomy booth. The service was prompt, the food was enjoyable. Their calamari is very tasty, although I had to ask for a spoon for the sauce and realized we didn’t have one for the actual calamari. It was was me and my husband so we just used forks to spoon them into or dishes. I asked the server which pasta she recommended and advised I didn’t like Alfredo like sauces. She recommended the mushroom ravioli and said it was a lighter creamy sauce. Although it was tasty, it was anything but light, definitely rich. I ended up getting a side dish to scrape some of the sauce off the ravioli and mushrooms. I’m sure most would love this dish I just tend to stay away from these types of sauces and am not used to the richness. Overall, the experience was better than the last time.

Great place, absolutely delicious food. We made reservations for dinner right before a show, got seated right away even though the place was busy. First off, the bread they serve is so good, its hot and crispy and soft on the inside, served with basil olive oil. The bruschetta was super fresh and delicious, the mozzarella was so soft it was oozing over the grilled toast — simply scrumptious! I had muscles(appetizer) as a meal — perfect size, flavorful, great sauce! I would definitely recommend this place but give yourself some time, as service is a bit slow because they tend to get busy before the shows and they bring everything out together for the table.

Great Italian food & nice ambiance. You can see the cooks in the kitchen cooking. Food arrived piping hot at our table and the waiter was nice! Yeah the prices are a bit high but it’s the casino and its expected. We made reservations and were seated immediately upon arrival on a Saturday night. I would definitely recommend.

My wife and I ate here when we came into town to see a show at the casino. I’ve walked by this place hundreds of times. We were in the mood for a nice dinner but the steakhouse in the casino was just a bit too pricey. so we chose this place. I’m not sure if this place is actually a 5, but we had a waiter who was so good, that I couldn’t possibly rate it any less just based on the fact that he was serving us. I believe Aaron is his name. My wife and I agreed to ask the waiter what he likes to eat, because he was so passionate about the menu here. He got us very excited for our meal and was so knowledgeable about the food and wine that you’d think he was the chef creating it. We got his two favorite dishes and a bottle of wine that he recommended. I had the pork loin and my wife had the ‘brick chicken’ dish and they were both beyond our expectations. My wife wasn’t very hungry, but she felt bad wasting the food since we had to get off to see the show. The waiter overheard this and offered to put it in the fridge in the back for us until after the show. I still couldnt believe the level of service we were receiving for a medium priced meal, that guy should open his own restaurant, I’d eat there.

If you can get over the vaguely depressing and smoke-filled atmosphere of the giant MGM, go straight to Alta Strada. Michael Schlow is the star chef of one of my favorite Boston restaurants, Via Matta, and he’s recreated his modern Italian menu here. Start with the bowls of antipasti(Broccoli Rabe with Chili, Eggplant Caponata, Homemade Ricotta, Calamari with Chick Peas and Olives), then munch your way through a perfectly crisp and juicy Chicken Piccata cooked under a brick, or any of the pasta dishes. Fresh, clean fare, presented beautifully and with enthusiasm by Jack, our attentive waiter.

I came here twice, back to back, on my visit to Foxwoods Casino. The food was amazing! The first time, I ordered the Maltagiliati which is the spicy pork ragu with herbed ricotta, absolutely delicious. The pork ragu had so much flavor and the pasta was fresh and you can tell it was homemade. The second time, I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli. If you like mushrooms, this is the entrée to order! The service could have been a little better as I didn’t get a refill on my water once, but overall the experience was pleasant.

We came to Alta Strada at Foxwoods with a large party(16 of us). I am giving them 2 stars because it was very easy to make a reservation a few days before the day and the service was pretty good. The reason why I am deducting the rest of the stars is because one of the members in our group got food poisoning. She was the only person in our group to get a burger and around 4am she woke up violently ill. No one else in the party got sick. We called the restaurant the next morning and informed them about the food poisoning and they said they would talk to the cook. The did offer to have our whole group come down for brunch on them however none of us wanted to return to Alta Strada. I doubt any of us will ever return.

Went here for brunch this morning. Everything was excellent! They have a wide selection and you can order an omelet if you like. The caponata, biscuits, charcuterie, French Toast and breakfast items were delicious. I would of liked to see juice included in the price! The server was great and I fully enjoyed myself.

Simply amazing Italian restaurant. My wife and I made a return trip there, and the service was just as good. The service meets the level of the food. Our waiter was attentive and courteous. Helped with menu choices and recommended a bottle of wine based on mine and my wife’s slightly different wine tastes. HIGHLY recommend this place if your looking to kick it up a notch for a special occasion.

We went just to have pastas last weekend during our stay at the MGM, which is now called the fox tower. We didn’t mind paying for the over priced food we had just won some money from playing at the casino. I had the spaghetti with tiny clams and my sweetheart had the papardelle with a meat sauce. We also shared a ceaser salad. and ordered a few glasses of pinot grigio. For the simple food that it is it was executed perfectly and tasted right on point. I loved the crusty peasant bread they serve with a basil olive oil… good stuff. The service was great. The waiter was very attentive and I loved that the server was pouring water in my glass every time it was half gone. Never had to ask for a refill. We did have dessert. We had their Panna Cotta with pinapples and pistachios. It was awesome and its a nice portion size to really indulge on. The best one I have ever had by far.

We stayed at Foxwoods for two nights and made a reservation at Alta Strada based on information posted on the Intranet. Alta Strada had an interesting menu and advertised a happy hour from 5 to 7 pm. When we arrived after 6, the bartender told us they no longer offered the happy hour. We were a little disappointed(as it had shown on their website) but ordered drinks and paid full price. When the hostess came to seat us, she said that as she understood, they still had the happy hour and she’d go talk to the manager. She had also told a couple she seated before us that the happy hour was still in effect. We waited some time our food arrived and during that time period no one got back to us(about happy hour). My clams with pasta were very good. However, my husband’s chicken parm and zucchini were charred and burned, completely uneatable. Alta Strada was a complete disappointment at this point. Now the manager came over. He saw how terrible the chicken parm looked, apologized and asked if my husband wanted something else. My husband said no and then asked about the happy hour mix-up. Again the manager apologized, saying it was no longer in effect. We told him his staff needed to be better communicated with and we came in based on the website advertised happy hour. Although the cost of the chicken pram that we couldn’t eat came off our bill, we would never come here again and there are so many better choices at Foxwoods.

This is a review on the brunch only… recently tried the Sunday brunch. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the non-typical choices in the brunch! Brussel sprouts, both eggplant and chicken Parmesan, smoked salmon, butternut squash to name a few. the eggplant Parmesan was delicious… the French toast was also delicious, Along with the nicely seasoned potatoes – earthy and yummy. our waiter was very attentive throughout the meal. you can order omelets from your table if you like, included… the desserts looked very good, but I was so full, just didn’t have room :-) Based on my brunch experience, I would go back here for a lunch or dinner – I’m a fan of restaurants that make their own pasta. there was one brunch item that was pasta based, and that pasta tasted fresh and delicious!

Went here last week for a getaway night with my husband. We ordered the veal meatballs for an appetizers and they were delicious and there was more than enough food there for the two of the us. We really wanted to taste the homemade pasta, so I ordered the spaghetti aglio e olio con pomodoro and it was amazing! It was such a simple dish but so much flavor. My husband order the bolognese and it was also amazing. The best part of our dinner though was our waiter. He was super friendly, knowledgeable and answered all our silly questions about italian food without making us feel dumb. I have been in the restaurant business for many years and wish I had caught his name because it is rare I really love a waiter/waitress. Will go back again some day!

There were very few positives associated with our visit last night and I will be sure to note those as well. Upon entry, the hostess was very nice and personable. She brought us to a table right away(only restaurant in the casino without a wait at 7:30 on a Sat night). We were then greeted promptly by our server and she asked if we would like some water to start our meal. I stated I would like a glass of water — the largest you have so she didn’t have to refill it numerous amounts of times… experience downhill from there. I got the rudest look and she walked away, obviously forgetting about my wife sitting right next me and seeing if she wanted something to drink. She then returned with my water, just putting it on the table and walking away. In the meantime, she had three other tables that she dropped checks, cashed out and cleared — still not coming back to us. 15 – 20 minutes later, she came back and finally asked what we would like to eat and what my wife would like to drink. We were informed that the burgers do take a little long than normal but because we ordered an appetizer, the wait shouldn’t feel as bad. Another couple sat down at one of her 3 perviously cleared tables — and a different server waited on them — nearly 25 – 30 minutes after we had arrived. To my dismay, this table also ordered burgers and wouldn’t you know it, their food came out before ours! I was about to lose my mind — and keep in mind, throughout this 35 – 40 minute window of waiting for a burger and a piece of salmon, our server was NOWHERETOBEFOUND. I sought out the Manager, who was extremely understanding, and explained my issue with him. He looked into the issue and brought our food out 7 minutes later. The taste of the food… divine. The atmosphere… not bad, the constant banging of something trying to come through the wall behind us was a little annoying but it was well lit and the aromas from the kitchen were pleasant. The rosemary and parsley was a great touch on the home cut french fries and my wife devoured the fresh sautéed vegetables with her meal. At the conclusion of our meal, we never saw our server again. I asked another server that«if she could find our server, can she ask her to bring us our check». She apparently couldn’t find her either, because the server who was not ours brought us the check. Decent food, decently priced for inside the casino but service was dreadful and did not leave me wanting to come back for more. The one person who stood out was the guy filling waters, resetting tables, he brought our bread, Juanito… he was the most pleasant and nicest person aside from the Manager we encountered — great job to him!!!

This review is for the brunch buffet only. There were so many missteps in food and service that I won’t detail them all. Just the highlights. We went for brunch on a Saturday morning. There were 12 of us, and the table was set up well. The place was almost entirely empty, which I should have taken as a hint. There isn’t much for a waiter to do during brunch. Just keep the drinks coming, and handle any special requests. Drinks took a huge amount of time coming, and we had to follow up on one of the drinks two times before it arrived. In addition to drinks, the server had to bring cream cheese to the table for anyone who wanted it. It was strange. Why wasn’t it up with the bagels? They treated it like it was gold, and only gave out two small pieces to anyone who asked for it. Nothing stood out, and several things were subpar. I would definitely not go here again for the brunch.

I’ve been to Alta Strada a few times when at Foxwoods, and the place really straddles the line between a 3* and a 4* review. The food isn’t amazing, and the service has sometimes been slow, but I do enjoy a few of their dishes and have had some really good service, too. Not my first or second choice at Foxwoods, but definitely something to try if you want a nice dinner and would like a change of pace from a steakhouse.

Alta Strada gave me the refresher I needed in the world of Italian food. Although I eat out a lot, I never find myself going out of the way for high-end Italian restaurants because I figure, «non-gourmet» Italian is pretty delicious and cheap so why bother. Plus, I’m sick of stupid Rhode Island where places charge high end prices but still use box pasta. I might say that Alta Strada blew away my expectations, but hey my bar was set pretty low. Don’t be put off by the 3 star average because I noticed that a lot of the 1 – 2 star ratings were less than helpful. I came here for a birthday dinner and they accommodated our big group flawlessly and there were lots of big groups that night. The service was perfect. I had to try the homemade ricotta appetizer because, hello, how often do you see homemade ricotta? It was drizzled with olive oil, herbs and hot red pepper which made it extra rich and creamy. The endive salad was delicious and dressed with just a tiny hint of dressing, just the way I liked it. All of the pasta is made in house so you should definitely get some! I had the tagliatelle bolognese. The handmade pasta was very thin and gave such a nice warm, rich complement to the bolognese. I don’t remember too many of the details because I was having a good time. My husband had the pappardelle with spicy pork ragu and herbed ricotta — more of that homemade ricotta! It wasn’t over spiced and I liked his dish better than mine, mostly because the cheese made it gooey and creamy. Pasta bowls are a good sized portion, not ridiculous like Olive Garden, but not so tiny that you’d walk away hungry. What I liked most about the dishes is that all of the flavors were perfectly balanced. Nothing was too garlicky, spicy, oily or smothered in cheese. Every ingredient shined through. If you aren’t in the mood for steak, give Alta Strada a shot.

Alta Strada surprised me. I had an after-meeting business dinner here, and not expecting much given the surroundings I was pleasantly surprised. Our servers, both for cocktails and for dinner were impressively well mannered and efficient, much better than similar places I have visited. The appetizers, and the food in general, were nicely prepared, tasty, and even a bit inventive without stretching to avant-garde. An antipasto plate included both the typical but finely selected cured meats and a sampling of sautéed mushrooms, grilled garden vegetables, and a Cannellini bean salad that I quite enjoyed. Crustini was served with a olive oil and soft cheese spread that had just started to break, and the mix of rich oil and soft cheese made a perfect pair. We even had a few small meatballs, crusted in a spicy, tomato shell. Surprisingly nice and delicious. My main course was taken a little further afield than I would have liked, the Tender Veal Saltimboca only vaguely resembled the traditional dish of the same name. Nicely seared but tiny veal medallions kept a rosy pink center, which must have been quite a challenge with such a small piece of meat. They were left, however, bare of the salty and flavorful pan sauce that is at the core of the classic dish. A mild disappointment. I was quickly cheered by the great wine selection. Very strong on Piedmontese selections, particularly notable for 4 or 5 selections from one of my favorite houses(Gaja). Much better than expected. I’d score 3+½ if I could.
