What happened to this place? Food has gone down hill, people working are unfriendly… and I caught them trying to over charge me. I noticed a for sale sign hopefully they sell and something better comes along

Best breakfast burrito and street tacos around. So authentic and fresh. It’s just a butcher shop and small Mexican market with 3 bar stools, so either take it home or don’t expect anything except for napkins and a stool, but what else do you really need. Basically an indoor taco truck but you can see what they are cooking!

Old meat it’s never made the same and it’s a different price every time. Owner over charges we order the same thing? I finally got my husband to stop getting food here after he got sick!!! And bought old old produce It made me give one star stop over charging and cooking old ass meat

The roaming cat does love trying new hole in the wall type places, and when my friends recommended me to this place, I was excited to try! Coming into this place, it definitely isn’t the kind of place you would expect amazing food. One side is a meat market with food, and the other is a sort of grocery store, all in a very small area. The menu is pretty diverse and I saw numerous things I wanted to try. But I decided to get the vegetable burrito, which I often try at such places. I have to say that there was something a bit off putting, but I also understand that this may be because the cook didn’t understand my friends English so well. I cannot eat red meat, which is why I always order veggie, or chicken burritos. But as my burrito was being made, my friend saw the cook start to pile in steak. The issue was corrected and the steak was taken out, but some pieces ended up still being left in. Regardless, once I got my burrito, it was very good, and the size was MASSIVE. Yes there was that one issue, but again, I understand that to have been a misunderstanding, although I wish it didn’t happen. Otherwise, service was prompt and quick, and good amount for your money. *chirp*

Just a few minutes drive from the courthouse, this is a pretty good lunch destination. It was a bit confusing to find, and it’s right next door to «Jalapeño’s» Mexican restaurant. The two ladies working there were nice, and spoke perfect English, if that’s important for you. There were two plastic tables out front, and one inside. They were full the whole time I was there, so I didn’t end up having anywhere to eat and eventually got it to go. I wanted the carne asada torta, and the menu was a bit confusing. It was listed as something like $ 7.49, so I ordered it. At the very bottom of the menu under the ham sandwich there is a space that also says«regular, $ 9.99, Jumbo $ 11.99». I thought that referred to the ham sandwich. The lady asked me if I wanted the regular or the jumbo and I asked for the regular. I was charged $ 9.99 for it. So I’m not sure what you have to do to get the $ 7.49 sandwich or what makes it not even a «regular» sandwich. However, it was ENORMOUS — so much meat. And lots of tasty toppings — guacamole, lettuce, a lot of something white(mayo or sour cream or some mix?), your choice of salsa(the lady recommended the avocado salsa), fresh cut slices of tomato … I also got a soft al pastor taco that was on special for .99. They were pretty busy and it took a lot longer to eventually get the food than I expected — but the meat was cooked fresh. I wasn’t really complaining but if you are in a big hurry it might be a problem. I ended up trying to eat my sandwich in my car in my suit because it was too windy because all the tables were taken. Wow, disaster. I don’t recommend it unless you are planning on going to the dry cleaner immediately. The sandwich was very good. The soft taco I didn’t enjoy the pork so much, it was a little strange… mine also didn’t come with chips, I’m not sure if I saw chips anywhere around. Someone also mentioned that the fresh/marinating meat in the window didn’t have prices but it seemed like most of the meat did have an advertised price — not clear how she was charged so much for hers…

Come here if you are HUNGRY! I ordered a chicken burrito and it was literally bigger than my head! And it was sufficiently stuffed with deliciously marinated chicken. They are very accommodating and will make your food to your liking. They are connected to a smog business so be on your look out when driving or you can miss it. They also have plenty of parking spots out front. *I don’t know why Unilocal hours lists them as closed on Tuesdays, they were definitely open today!

This place really is a gem in Martinez. It is a small little place on the opposite side of Martinez. The owners/workers there are super nice! I came in wanting to order some food, someone was in front of me so it took about 15 minutes total in and out of there. I ordered the carne asada burrito and 7 carne asada tacos. MAN!!! My burrito was FULL of meat! About 4x the meat that Chipotle would give and its about the same price! 7.50 $ for a burrito, and 1.50 for tacos. This definitely satisfied my mexican food mix.

This has turned into my new favorite meat market. The meats are quality and they have delicious marinated meats and shrimp. I’m especially a fan of the chicken fajita, carne asada, and pastor. They have a great selection of Mexican spices, and fresh veggies. In addition to a clean and well organized meat market they also have a pretty huge taco, burrito, and torta menu. I have only had tacos, but the burritos and tortas are bigger than my head. This isn’t the place to sit down and have lunch, they have two outdoor tables and a tiny bar to eat at. The to go food is wonderful and worth trying out. The owner, Grace, is super friendly and always has a smile. If you need something, ask her! Oh, watch out, it’s very hidden on Pacheco Blvd., If you blink you will miss some yummy food!

The five star rating is earned definitely by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Fab food. We had the fajitas. My friend had the camarones and I had the mixtas and we were both extremely satisfied by the quality and the quantity. The food was freshly prepared, nicely seasoned and reasonably priced. We occupied one of the two tables in front of the unassuming entry, not quite sure of what we were getting into. It proved to be a relatively extensive meat market where the cooking is done and a small Mexican deli. It is reported to have a rear patio which would be the only other seating. We will go again!

Came here late on a Saturday night just before closing. They are easy to miss but sure glad we found them. Meat is cooked when you order… the burritos and tacos taste very good everything was fresh. The food is not only great but the service is awesome, the owner and staff are very friendly. Came back the next day for lunch… It was that good. Would hate to see this little gem go out of business. Defiantly stop by!!!

So is a great little Meximart. The owner is having trouble staying afloat. She is thinking of selling but those of us that frequent the small produce area and meat counter as well as the patrons who order the giant burritos and other Mexican grub want her to march on. I hope that others will try this place. It truly is a little gem in martinez. Not a restaurant, but a kind of deli/mart full of hometown friendly. I really hope it can stick around. The salsa is super good especially the hot. Supporting this small business would help tremendously. Come shop or just get a burrito. It’s a giant mouthgasm!

This place is amazing! They have a nice selection of produce, spices, and pantry items. The deli has a good variety of cuts and types of meats, and the marinades they use for the chicken and steak are amazing! Very deep flavor. Haven’t tried the pastor yet, but I’m sure it is just as good. You can also order food at the counter, and they use the fresh meat from the deli. Burritos are $ 7.50, but they are HUGE! Hands down, best burrito I’ve ever had. I also appreciate that the hot salsa is actually spicy! All the workers are very friendly, too. I highly recommend this place!

HOPETHEMEAT’S FRESHERTHANTHEJALAPENOS The meat counter here actually looked really good. I understand why all the reviews are happy with it. I came for the produce though and it was a tiny section of tired greens. I picked through the jalapenos to find one that didn’t have the black spots that turn into bigger black spots of mold. Only found one that called my name and grabbed an avocado and bottle of coke to go with it. The avocado was $ 1.29 and I assume the medio litro bottle(the large one) was about the same because my total was under $ 4. The girl at the register and didn’t give me a hard time about using Visa to make a $ 3 dollar purchase, so that was cool. I felt pretty cramped in the small store. Living close to Monument spoils me I think. Not a bad place for this area, but I need something bigger when doing my shopping. With fresher jalapenos.
