Bill’s Ace Hardware

I needed some part to install two water filter systems for my house and the staff took their time to help me on finding them.
Surprisingly, this store carry more plumbing parts than HD and Lowes. I am very pleased with quality of their products. Thank You.

Super experience buying our new WEBER GRILL! Knowledgeable and truly helpful people. Much friendlier than WC location… stick with BILL’S ACE Hardware locations snd not the franchise ones… much more personalized service and better pricing. Not by a ton, but it’s worth it!

This is one friendly hardware store! Even if they don’t have something available, they will typically help find you an alternative solution. This store is a lot bigger than it appears from the steeet as they have a large garden center behind the buliding. For a quick item or large tool, this Ace probably has it.

We have lived in Martinez, moved away and periodically come up here to visit mom. We get her propane tanks refilled at Bill’s place all the time and every time your employee Big John in the back has given us the best customer service we can ever expect. Always very courteous, helpful and so very kind. We get 7 – 10 tanks refilled at a time and he always helps take them out of our car and when they are ready he sets them right next to our car for easy loading cuz those things are so heavy when they are full. We thank him (Big John) and all the other employees for always making us feel like we can depend on you for excellent customer service. Always looking forward to shopping at Bill’s place. There is no better place to get propane tanks refilled. We went in on Sunday afternoon with 10 tanks and John was not only quick to respond to the back entrance call button, but he took care of filling all those tanks right away. He even helped us carry them out to our vehicle. Fantastic service, which over the years has always been their standard. A great alternative to the monster sized stores…

Apparently they were having some sort of «friends and family appreciation event» this evening. Well I’ll tell you I certainly didn’t feel appreciated, I walked past no less than 5 employees just to get inside and no one said one word to me. I’m smart, I was reading the aisle signs to find what I needed until an employee asked if he could could help. I told him I was looking for drain cleaner, he just pointed over his shoulder down the aisle i was standing in front of. I stood there for a good 5 – 10 minutes trying to figure out which one would work best for my needs and no one came to check on me. I finally decided on one and when I went to pay, there were about 7 employees standing behind the counter chatting. I had to ask who was open to ring me up. I left the store and called to speak to a manager (heather?) to complain about my experience and the fact that they’re already playing Christmas music and she seemed empathetic at first, then came off as rushed and snobby at the end. So I’m left writing this review. This Ace is not the place with «helpful hardware pros» or whatever their stupid slogan is. I hope the owner reads this.
On a side note, the cleaner I bought didn’t even work. My drain is still clogged. Had to use the whole bottle, even though the directions said half should do it, and I can’t even return it since I used it all. Nice.

I’m sitting here in the parking lot after I went into this hardware store and I’m kind of ticked off. I’m in the last aisle where the shelving equipment is and I’m looking at shelving items for 5 to 10 minutes. There are 2 older female employees, one with glasses restocking items, standing approximately 20 feet away from me. One of them even walked in front of me several times and they never once asked me if I needed any help! This has happened several times .
Update: I called the store and spoke with the on duty manager (Tim). Tim was very apologetic and listened to my concerns. I felt much better about the situation after talking with Tim and will continue to shop at this location.
I even had to return to the store on the same day to make an exchange and within two minutes I was greeted by two other employees who asked me if I needed any help!

I’m always so happy to walk into Bill’s Ace Hardware… doesn’t matter which store it is, you don’t get that «big box» experience. There is always a personable, knowledgeable staff member there to help find what I need or answer my questions! The selection is very good and the inventory is always more than ample!
On a separate note, but VERY important, Bill’s goes the extra mile to help the community as well. I’m involved in homeless outreach and Bill always seem to keep track of our needs. I posted a need for water on Facebook two days ago and yesterday, Bill personally showed up at my house with 25 cases of water to donate to the cause! He has given cases of blankets before and countless rolls of plastic sheeting to help the homeless stay dry in rainy weather.
So not only is he a great businessman with three stores and a great team, but he has a heart of gold and is eager to help whenever he can! Thanks so much!

Love Bill’s Ace Hardware and all of the employees are so nice! I walked in today and asked Walt for assistance finding several items and he cheerfully and knowledgeably helped me find all of the items on my list and cut me a chip key and some spares also. What a wonderful employee!

Full service place. Ashley was so helpful with my fan and plumbing project. Lots of reasons to stop here instead of the big box store, especially if you need some advice.

I must admit that Ace Hardware is my favorite hardware store. Its been a lot of visits in these past few years since I wrote my last review.
Customer service is second to none. I’m always helped when I need it. The employees are smart and efficient and enjoyable to be around. Not like some stores where employees avoid you.
I’m a landlord now and this location has come to my rescue for all the things that I’ve needed in the upkeep of my property. Everything from fire extinguishers, new smoke alarms, signage, all those little weird construction things you might need.
This is an East Bay must have store. I couldn’t be as efficient as I am with out them.

Excellent customer service here, way better then home depot or lowes where I could wonder around for hours with not one person asking if I need help. Or stand at the paint mix station for 10 minutes with not one person stopping to offer to call someone. Ace will be my go to from now on!

It’s a nice Ace Hardware pretty big I needed to find some random tooling for work so I stopped off here and they have what I was looking for they help me with everything I need it fast checkout

We shop at Ace hardware quite often for a variety of things. Quick hardware parts, propane, cleaning supplies when I just need 1 thing to finish cleaning and I look like crap (they r close to home, lol). Yesterday, my oldest lost all his keys at work. This sucks for anyone it happens to. He called me with the list of keys that were on his key ring (truck keys, house keys, trailer keys). I keep copies of all our keys for just this reason. I ran to Ace to make copies of mine so I could run a new set to him. Richard is the key guru there but everyone who worked on the keys was friendly and efficient. All the keys worked perfectly. Thanks Ace staff!

I went to pay for my contact paper and the older man checking people out at the cash register lingered in a conversation with someone he just helped. I waited, they continued to talk for about 2 minutes without acknowledging my presence. Then he walked away and went outside with the customer to continue the conversation without saying anything to me. I felt it was incredibly rude for him to waste my time waiting for his service.

First id like to say. Love bills ACE. Been supporting it over box stores for years. I see them helping out all over town with community stuff.
The other night I pull up needing a New door knob lock set. Its 7:20 and the place is pitch black. I stop get out to look at sign and there closed at 7 now. In that 2 min i was in the parking lot 4 more cars pull in and are looking around also. So i pull out head up morello and i see the cars comming out that way also. It was a caravan to HD. All wanting to spend there but forced to big box. disapointed!!!
You cant send the message to the people to support and spend at local family business and close 2 hours before the other guy

I love this hardware store. The employees are very knowledgable and wanting to help you find that special part you need for your project. Try going to a big box store or home depot and getting that type of service. They also are generous in the community and they have donated to both of my daughters fundraisers for the local schools.
I don’t have any relatives or friends that work for this store so I have no vested interest in giving them a good review other than that I want them to thrive because they are an awesome business. Some of the employees know me by name and because I am frequently there. I only go to Home Depot as A last resort.
My daughter asked home depot for a donation for a school auction fundraiser and they told her to submit a request 6 months in advance. Are you kidding? Ace gave her a wheel barrow full of donations… literally.
Please support this store!

The place is amazing, and the moment that you walk into the place, they are right there asking if there’s anything that you need help with, and there’s always someone near by in case you do need help. Also if the one that you’re talking to doesn’t know, then they know just the person that can help you and call them right up, and within a minute or two that person is right there.
Can’t get enough of the place, and love the bike section that they have, believe me, if they started selling electronics, they’d give Walmart a run for their money. Love this place BIG TIME!!!

Went here for the first time before christmas because my mother stopped in beforehand and told me they have gift bows on sale for 50 cents. I purchase the bows, don’t realize that they are charging me 91 cents (bought 4 bags), and then after the kid rings me up I tell him that there was a mistake, that the bows were 50 cents. He shrugged and said «Well they are ringing up 91 cents». Then my friend chimes in and said «there’s a sign on the box that says they are 50 cents». He stares at us, gets a phone call, and totally dismisses us. I walk over to check the box for my own sanity, and sure enough– the sign said 50 cents. I waited until he got off the phone, and as he took the next customer I said to him «By the way, it is 50 cents. I just checked the box. but that’s ok…» He just kept on with the next customer.
Now, I really don’t give a damn about an extra 41 cents… per bag… that’s not what upset me the most. 91 cents is still a damn good deal.
What upset me was the following:
–His attitude
–His laziness
–His extremely poor customer service.
The register wasn’t so far away that he couldn’t walk his ass around and check the box out himself. His dismissive attitude was rude, and was so blatant that it took all I had to not yell at him.
Family friendly environment… yeah right. It is people like this that need to be reminded that there are others out there who can do his job, and give it their all. I don’t care if he was young, he was old enough to know better.
