Lived in SJ for awhile and a few months after I left I began to crave this place. The food is excellent and the staff there are extremely friendly. Sometimes they are a bit rushed because they are so busy, but when the rush ends someone always comes out, asks how I’m doing, how’s my family etc. The dim sum on Sundays is also great, I highly recommend the Char Siu Bao!

Been a customer for years, never disappointed. We folliwed them from Philadelphia, and thru an ownership change. Joe’s is the gold standard we use for other chinese restaurants. Staff is friendly, and is a great team. Place always clean andportions huge. Definitely worth a trip to Marlton.

Consider this place as a eating place or take out place, not a restaurant. Food was not bad. Actually better than most neighborhood Chinese restaurant. Their black bean source was really good. However, no service, no atmosphere. Guess when they require cash only, they are expressing that they are providing good food but nothing else.

I’m missing this place. I can’t believe I’ve never reviewed them and this is my favorite place to of all time! Everyone here is so nice and hardworking. I’ve seen them since the day I first moved to nj even till the last day I moved out of state. I will travel long hours just to get my fix to come here! U must try the Peking duck two ways. They cook the duck to perfection. It has loads of meat and image crispy layer of skin gives the right amount of crunch. When u eat each bite with the white slices of the steamed bun married with the sauce and slices of green onion. I always hands down get the wonton noodle soup with duck, charsui with green vegetables. I have never had any soup broth taste so amazing and a wonton as flavorful with perfect amounts of duck and char Sui pork all in one bite. It is to die for! I have taken every visitor with me to experience this place!

Firstly, this restaurant does NOT accept credit or debit cards. It is strictly cash only. After reading a few good reviews, I finally decided to try this restaurant for take-out dinner tonight, 05/07/2016 I was not impressed. I ordered the Grandfather’s chicken aka General Tso’s chicken and Chicken Lo mein, to go. The girl taking the order asked me if I wanted it spicy and I said, Yes. So, the General Tso’s — spicy, was not at all like what you are used to at other Chinese restaurants. The sauce was totally different, which was a disappointment. It was also loaded with peppers and onions, and a lot of crushed red pepper. The chicken lo mein was exactly like at any other Chinese restaurant, except it was almost twice the price. There is simply nothing extraordinary about the food at this restaurant, in my opinion. I would not recommend this restaurant, and I will not be returning here. I simply cannot justify spending that much more for regular Chinese take-out. I still prefer Kings Palace in Marlton, when I’m craving Chinese, located right by the TGI Friday’s and Whole Foods in Marlton, just about a mile away from Joe’s Peking. As I also wrote at the top, Joe’s Peking, does not accept credit cards. They have an ATM machine inside the restaurant, with high fees. So, make sure you go with cash. They do all cash business, you don’t get a real receipt either.

After 30 years of weekly trips to restaurant, I am sad to say we will never come back. On our last visit we ordered shrimp with black bean sauce and steamed dumplings. The dumplings came with hair in it. I mentioned to waiter who proceeded to yell and accuse me of putting it there. He took them back. We eventually asked where our replacement was and were advised we were not getting. Next we asked where our shrimp dish was and our response was that we never ordered. Response came with attitude. Same waiter, years of going. never again.

I too read good reviews but didn’t have the chance to try until a couple months ago. I’ve been back two more times since. The food is excellent, service is no efficient and super fast. The restaurant is small and the décor is nothing to write home about but who cares. The food and friendly atmosphere is what this place is about. We had the Garlic Pepper Steak 3X and it never disappointed. Generous portion served on a sizzling platter that can be cut with a fork. The orange chicken(not on the menu) was very good. Different than the super sweet orange chicken you get at most restaurants and take out places. We had several noodle dishes. One of my two daughters and my favorites is the Beef Chow Fun. Every time I visited Joe’s it was busy. Seems like a lot of regulars coming back. Staff is super friendly and accommodating. Each table gets a pot of tea with a strainer because the tea leaves are put directly in the pot and the classic fortune cookies and orange slices at meals end. I tried the Peking duck roll which was great. Haven’t tried the Peking Duck yet because my wife isn’t fond of duck but I always see several tables ordering it. I highly recommend Joe’s if you want a great meal in a very casual setting.

3.5 stars Had this place bookmarked for a while and finally had a chance to make a trip to Marlton to explore. We came on Saturday for dim sum and the restaurant was slightly busy. The restaurant is a little bit small and felt a little cramp especially on the left side of the dining room. Service is pretty decent, kind of quick depending on the item. CASHONLY. They do have an ATM machine inside so no worries about leaving to get cash. For lunch we ordered: Roast duck, BBQ pork & wonton egg noodle soup — duck was flavorful and tender, pork was salty, wonton tasted average, nothing spectacular. The broth was light and seasoned well, no distinctive squid/seafood smell or taste which was nice. Was a little surprised this dish didn’t have one piece of green vegetable since most noodle bowls do come with some. Hargow(shrimp dumpling) — the wrapping was a little thick, did not care for the flavor inside, have had better. Pork stuffed bean curd — BESTITEM we ordered. Sauce was delightful and full of flavor. The filling was just pork and mushroom which was fantastic. Typically it contains stinky bamboo shoots which this one did not, hallelujah! I was dipping everything else into this sauce. Yum Shrimp in rice noodle — the shrimp were medium sized and a little bit more firm than what I’m used to. It wasn’t tender or melt-in-your-mouth smooth so this dish was a little off putting. Turnip cake — the texture was very soft and squishy and the sear on the outside was on the verge of being burnt. I typically enjoy and love eating turnip cakes, but this one slightly missed the mark in terms of texture and flavor. It did taste amazing dipped in the bean curd sauce though. BBQ pork buns(steamed) — I thought these were the brown bun type of pork buns where it’s like stuffed bread vs the actual white steamed bun version. Oops. Took these togo. The flavor of the bun itself was bland and the filling was eh. Not what I was looking for. Overall, this was a decent dim sum experience. Wish they had vegetable dim sum items and veggies in their noodle soup dishes. Don’t think we’ll bend over backwards to make it out here to eat, but if we happen to be in the neighborhood and have a sudden dim sum /Chinese food craving then we would stop by again.

What!!! Numerous Unilocal friends have been here but i never even heard or seen this place?! My friends wanted some chinese food so instead of making our way to philly or even cherry hill sang kee, so this was selected. I was skeptical about it since it was a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. But, that’s how NJ rolls with restaurants. Free parking too! The place was packed on a cold saturday night with a mixture of Americans and asians alike. So that was a good sign. Peeking at other tables, the dishes were fairly authentic looking, so that was a good sign. My friends ordered their usual, and i wanted something more americanized lol. I ordered the salt baked pork chops. My friends got the three meat over rice with vegetables, salt baked squid, and soy sauce pan fried noodles. All the food was fine. I didn’t love the pork chops, i prefer the ones from Mai Lai Wah. These had too much strange breading. The duck was really good. Its a bit different than typical peking duck but in a good way. The salt baked squid was nice and tender, very large too. I didn’t try the soy sauce nooodles, but they looked good and its my friends«favorite». Service was nice and friendly. They serve loose leaf tea so that’s more authentic than some Chinatown restaurants! I’d definitely go back for the meat/veggie over rice dishes since that was really good. Its a bit out of the way from my place, but if i’m in the area and craving chinese, id defnitely stop by.

Always read about this place. It was Zagat rated. Read nothing but good. So, I had to stop at the store today and decided to stop in and eat. It is a very small restaurant. When you go in you immediately see a huge fish tank with two fish. I could not begin to tell you what they were. Lunch was over, so I ordered from the regular menu. I ordered hot and sour and he brought me Wonton. I kept it though because it looked delicious. It had a very clear broth, celery, wontons, carrots, spinach and maybe a few other veggies. I ate it with no issues. Delish I then ate the duck dumpling I ordered. Yum too. I ordered fried rice because I just love fried rice. Period. I got the pork fried rice. The serving was a huge pile. Last but not least I got the cashew chicken. Every single thing I ordered was delicious and this place was outstanding as far as Chinese cuisine. It said something to me when I was the only caucasian in the place and the other patrons were chinese. Must be the place to go for the Chinese Americans. I have never been in a restaurant where the following was Chinese for Chinese. Recommend HIGHLY.

My family and I always come here and we love the food and the service. The owner knows us and greets us every time we come in! We love the Peking duck and vegetable friend rice but my favorite is the walnut shrimp! Will come back again every time I’m home in south jersey!

I would give 3.5 but definitely not a 4. Based on Dim Sum. It was good for Jersey but can’t be the same recipes as the location in Philly. The sauces are thicker, sweeter and hot oil not as spicy. Maybe catering to a South Jersey americanized asian taste? Next time I will try their namesake and leave the Dim Sum for over the bridge.

Im from manhattan and we come down here to visit my gf’s family. I always come here when we spend a weekend here. Best wonton soups and american Chinese food. Dimsum is not worth it. You have to go to a chinatown for that. High praise for the noodles and the soups.

M. and I drove for about 50 minutes to Joe’s Peking Duck House because a friend recommended it to us. Sadly, we weren’t as impressed as we had hoped. Our lunch included half a duck, turnip cakes, siu mai and hargow. I liked everything except the siu mai which is usually my favorite when I go out for dim sum. The duck was tasty but definitely not as good as some other places in Philly’s Chinatown. The bread that came with it was nice and fluffy. The place was pretty packed with mostly Chinese people so that was a good sign, I guess. I’m thinking there aren’t many places where you can eat similar Chinese food in the area… Service was friendly and welcoming. But we thought it was pricier than Philly’s Chinatown($ 38 total). Not worth another 50 minute drive but glad we tried it.

This review is for dim sum only. I’ve been here twice for dim sum on occasions where Philly Chinatown seemed too far a trip to make. It’s missing a lot of what you’ll find at a place that offers full-blown dim sum dishes, but the price is fair and I’m giving it a 4 for convenience and it being pretty much the only place to get dim sum without crossing the bridge. Some dishes we tried: Turnip cakes — good Tripe — tried this for the first time and it was surprisingly good, would recommend Shrimp dumplings — same as everywhere else Sticky rice(with chicken) — meh. Too much rice, not really a lot of stuff inside Chicken feet — not bad Spare ribs — eh. they’re not the typical ones with black beans that you’d find everywhere else; they put onions in it instead so it tasted a bit off

I have been to places where Chinese food couldn’t be more authentic. Now that I’m in New Jersey; I must admit I was not expecting to encounter the delicacies that I ordered. When I stepped in to Joe’s Peaking Duck house; I saw it was full of people dinning. That was a good sign for me. The space is a bit small to my liking, but the cleanliness is there. I ordered their chicken fried rice and it was full of flavor! There Cantonese peaking duck was PERFECT! The crispy texture of the skin was also complimented with the flavor of the duck itself. I felt like a king! The honey walnut shrimp was good! The shrimp, HUGE however; the sauce used to coat the shrimp had an excessive amount of mayonnaise. It was a bit overpowering. Lol Also, one of the guys there I think he is the owner; was very awesome. Great personality and he makes you feel very welcomed! I will definitely return to this establishment.

I am torn between providing a 3 and a 4 — so I went with a 4. Only beacuse I have rated other restaurants a 3 and this is slightly better than my 3 ratings. It’s not the best Chinese I have ever had, but they certainly do well with what they offer. Nothing is terrible, but I wasn’t ‘wowed’ either. The duck is a must. If I were to return to Joe’s, it’s for why it is named Peking Duck House… to go for the Peking Duck. The duck is REALLYGOOD! The service is alright — sometimes it is hard to get a waitress’s attention. The food came out too quickly. We wanted our appetizers and a second to take our plates awhile, but while eating appetizers, they brought our dinner. ‘Give us a second’ is what I wanted to say. BYOB which is nice as well.

This place is really good! I was surprised, for a small, shady looking outside, it has a warm cozy feeling inside. I may have been here before years ago and can’t remember, but last weekend was enough to win me over. Go during SAT or SUN lunchtime(I think 1−3pm only), for Dim Sum. Only time they serve it, and its so delicious! Ask for the separate Dim Sum menu. We got several different kinds of dumplings, they are all great! I loved the pork and shrimp steamed soup dumplings the best. The BBQ buns were amazing, they were huge, and looked like fluffy white clouds on a plate! We tried a really good soup with pork and black eggs in it, weird, but good. The spare ribs were not good, I advise away from that(very greasy, fatty, and full of bones). Overall, the food was very good, and the prices are good too! Our server was fantastic, he was so nice and friendly, and couldn’t stop smiling! He made our day so much better! Also, you know its a good Chinese restaurant when there are just as many Chinese people in there eating as other folks! Highly recommended! Especially for the Dim Sum on weekends for lunch!
