I love this place, the salmon special is always a delight.

We should up with a group of 8 adults and 3 children for lunch on 5÷3÷15 and it took 10 minutes to get seated. After another 15 minutes I got up and asked for a child seat we asked for when we got our table. The bartender I kept asking for help said«I can’t leave this area». 30 minutes in and after several requests for water the only other employee that appeared to be there came over and said«I am not a server and work evening as a bar tender». Needless to say at this point I told the group of us to leave which was about the same time 12 more members of our group showed up. We went a few doors down to the café and even when ambushing them they took care of us. Do not stop at this restaurant if you want food as all they do is drinks. Also as a further note I made attempts to call this restaurant to let them know a big group was coming and never got through to anyone and the phone just rang. Horrible service.

Love the bar atmosphere and the food is great… if they have food. I’d go here regularly for their garlic fries and burger but u never know if they are open. They seem to be closed a lot more than open and sometimes they have a cook and sometimes they don’t. Sad to see so much potential with so little consistency.

Cutthroat was the place to go before it changed hands and became Wolf Creek. Service is always lacking, from trying to be seated to try and get your check. The staff is over worked and under pressure, rushed. French fries tasted like they were reheated in the deep fryer, and were not even hot… or warm. yuk. Blackened Chicken sandwich was marginal. The last few times I’ve been there, it has Not been a good experience. Been with groups of people on our motorcycles and with a few people. You feel like your an inconvenience rather than a welcomed guest. I guess we will give up. Better to bring a picnic lunch where there are so many beautiful options to enjoy being by the river. Our last visit last weekend… on Sunday, they were out of half their menu items. Waitress said they had a busy Sat and were out of Turkey, cheese, chicken wings, ortega chile, asparagus appetizer, and several other items she mentioned. The only thing they have going for them is the Bar and Sports on the TV’s. Forget the food. What a shame they chased all their clientele away! Use to be the spot to ride too. Not anymore. What a bummer. I have been going there for the last 15 years or more and the place is just gone down. I really hope they can make some good changes. Reading some other Unilocal reviews, it looks like this is not the first time they have run out of food. What is going on? The kitchen Manager can’t order properly for the restaurant? I hope to read positive reviews in the future, so I can add to it. Too bad, Good luck Wolf Creek.

Food was wonderful. Fish and chips was hand breaded with homemade tarder sauce. Stephanie was quick and very friendly. Would definitely eat here again.

Limited menu and then they were out of half those choices. I advise going early in the week while they still have items to sell. Waiter was pleasant and helpful, but over-worked. Had trouble keeping up. Luckily we arrived at opening, so didn’t have to wait too long for our food and wine. Club sandwich, wine and tiramisu was good. May go back for breakfast, but not dinner.

Great breakfast if u expect an American standard. Fresh fruit was disappointing that came with the Belgian waffle. Wait staff was very attentive. Good comfort food and spice and span!

Oh my! What can I say. another landmark you can’t miss… But don’t think your going to the Cuttthroat! Not a party in the least anymore… weak food weak service. been there a bunch over last summer. Locals at the bar., ornery… Did find a cool bartender there Kelsey. Not sure how she’s there? But she’s the best in markleeville

This place sucks. I had to give it a star or it won’t let me post a review. However it deserves zero stars. Don’t ever eat or drink here. The owners are a**holes and shouldn’t be considered chill locals. I have been coming to Markleeville for 20 years and I have never been treated so poorly in my life. Even my nine year old was appalled by the way we were spoke to by an over 60 year old man. You’ll find much nicer people and better food at any other restaurant in the area! Trust me.

We arrived at about 7pm after our motel called the restaurant to ask if they would stay open for us(which was very nice of the motel and the restaurant). And while this place only gets 2 stars from me, at least they did stay open for us and we were able to get dinner. We ordered a chicken noodle soup, a rueben, and a blackened chicken sandwich. The soup(which I think was homemade) was very salty but tasty and hot. Best part of the meal. The rueben was okay,(but I’m from New York, so it’s up against some tough competition in my book) except they didn’t put any russian dressing on it. The blackened chicken sandwich had so much cajun spice rub on it that it was inedible at first. We had to scrape the spice caked onto the chicken off it. After that it was edible, but pretty dry. They also served a side spinach salad with raspberry vinaigrette — nice touch, but the dressing is super sweet and not very pleasant. Nice waitress. It was food. If there’s nothing else open(which there might not be), it’ll do. But if you have a choice, I’d look elsewhere.

Good food in a quaint building. We had a late lunch here and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Markleeville is out in the middle of no-where, so it was a great find. I had a club sandwich and potato salad. They used good bread and quality cold cuts, and the potato salad was homemade. My husband had the chicken breast teryaki sandwich with onion rings. He enjoyed his lunch very much, and I will say the onion rings were really, really good. The décor is from the gold mining days, and the bar is peppered with locals. This is a fine spot for lunch or dinner, and I would recommend Wolf Creek Restaurant and bar.

3 ½ stars… We shared a cup of albondega(hope I spelled that correctly) soup which was some of the best we’ve ever had, and the trout dinner entrée, sautéed with a white wine butter caper sauce also very good. The mixed veggies that came with the dinner were the typical carrot, zucchini, squash medley, but they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The interior is kind of outdated and dark, but it is an old building so it’s ok. Their patio is great, good comfy furniture and nice landscaping. Service was excellent, but we were there on a tuesday evening and it was very slow so it’s hard to tell what it might be like on a busier night. Fair prices, we would go again.

Stopped in on our way home from vacation for breakfast. Food was really good. I had the Biscuits and Gravy with sausage. The sausage had a kick to it that made it really good. My daughter had the french toast which was very good also. My son in law had the chorizo and egg… wow it was fantastic, shout out to the cook Juan, he knows how to cook Chorizo. The only reason they are not getting a 5 star is our waitress was not the best. We had to wait for awhile before she even noticed us to get seated, it was not busy either. She seemed a little out of it, had to wait for our syrup to be heated up and brought back to us for a very long time, waffles were cold by then. Change was messed up when we paid, but all in all the food was amazing.

After a long motorcycle ride and a soaking in Grover Hot Springs we stopped here to take in a few beers. Luckily they serve pitchers and have a pretty good selection. Melinda, our server was friendly and helpful in getting us settled in the back patio area. Note: In the Summer sit in the back patio… it is soooo much nicer than the inside of the restaurant which is a little dark and boring. The food was good, I had the ribs which hit the spot. I could not eat them all there were that many. After dinner and outside started to cool down, we hit the bar and had a few laughs with the locals and the staff. Good times. Melinda, our server, gave us a lot of tips on local goings on and made us feel welcome in this part of the world. Since we’ve been here before, it’s pretty certain that when we find our way here again, and we will, this is a sure bet for a place to grab a beer and a bite next time through.

After eating delicious grilled meats and veggies all weekend, we were in the mood for something fresh and on the lighter side. I might still smell like smoke, bacon and hamburgers. Tintin had the caesar salad, light on the dressing, and I had the bruschetta. I also had a bunch of the loaded fries, so I wasn’t successful at actually eating a light meal. My bruschetta would’ve been great, except that it had too much balsamic. The rest of the group seemed satisfied with the ribs, sandwiches and drinks they ordered. There aren’t a lot of options in Markleeville so if you’re in the area, it’s a decent place to stop.

One of two restaurants in town. This one was open while the other wasn’t. The food was good. I had the spinach salad. My only complaint was the raspberry vinaigrette was more like a raspberry sauce. Price and service was good and the restaurant is cute.

I don’t remember how many times I have drove through this place when I blast through Markleeville. Some of my friend had mentioned about they have pretty good food. So on a cool late fall night, to be exact, Halloween night, when my friend B and I because hungry after driving through Monitor Pass, we decided to hop in and see what’s up. There are a few patrons in the bar area which looks like part of old victorian house. Great thing is that B and I were the only two not dressed. The locals were chilled and friendly, and offer us candies. =) The friendly bar owner came over and informed us dinner is not served since the cook is sick, but they do have soup and salad. Well, consider this was the only business that is open in the 20 mile radius, soup and salad it was. It turned out to be the best soup and salad we had, clam chowder it was. We walked out two warm happy camper. The bar owner also walked us out as beer might be lurking at such late hour. I definitely will stop by next time when traveling through the Sierra, and maybe the cook won’t be sick.

We were in need of a sweet snack on our drive back home and with little to no choices, thankfully Wolf Creek was open for business. Saloon type feel with obvious old timers hanging out at the bar drinking their beer. It’s the type of place where you walk through the doors and everyone screams out your name. Kind of like the show Cheers, «Nooorm.» A slice of warm apple pie a la mode for my Mom and a slice of warm peach pie a la mode for me. mm mm mm. The live music which consisted of one guy singing and playing the guitar. Then I was surprised when what appeared to be a young lady who was sitting nearby decided to walk up to the microphone and start singing Norah Jones, «Don’t know why I didn’t come.» This girl had such a beautiful bluesy voice I was blown away. Right on! Just a great ending to a wonderful day.

Warm food! 2.5 stars. We ate both dinner and breakfast here on a recent trip. For dinner, I had the veggie lasagna. Let me say, it was really like cheese-and-tomato stew. A huge dish of sauce and cheese and melted cheese and sauce and oozy cheese filling and… noodles, where are the noodles? Incredibly rich, way too liquidy, not all that great. Salad was good. Bread, quite tasty. Breakfast was mediocre. Had OJ, which tasted more like Tang than any juice I’ve ever had(just buy a container of Tropicana, okay?). I had a veggie omelet, and it was pretty meager. Veggies looked like leftovers from the previous evening’s dinner service, and they forgot the cheese. I was starving, and scarfed down the cold toast. Service was VERY friendly, and the building is nifty, historic, and extremely conveniently-located, so big thumbs up for that.
