Ordered one slice of pepperoni pizza and it was so delicious. Great service !!! And i got the food less than 10 minutes after ordered.

First time here and what a disappointment. We should have left after we saw 3 different couples walk out. The service was horrible. We sat down waited for 10 min then finally went to the bar for a drink. We had 4 beer each without anyone asking us for a food order! Thank god, because my girlfriend was in the bathroom with one of the servers and she didn’t wash her hands after using the washroom. Someone knocked over the utensils on the floor and the server picked them all up and put them in the tray for unsuspecting patrons to use for there food. By far the worst place we ever been to. Very disappointing, especially because of the prime location. I would recommend this place be shut down due to severe health violations. Do yourself a favor and never visit this dump. On a good note… The terrace next door was fantastic!!! Visit them instead.

Ordered a slice of pizza waited forever, went up to the window, was told there was an issue with my pizza, finally came out several minutes later. Looked like they flash fried a piece of bread with some cheese and basil haphazardly thrown on it. Tasted worse. Avoid.

People are starting to bring better options to the beach on Washington. The Whaler take-away is an attempt, but falls a little short still. It feels a little disorganized. The breakfast and coffee are decent, pretty standard fare. I did enjoy the chorizo breakfast burrito but a little disappointed it’s a $ 10 burrito. It was worth $ 6. And the coffee is a local roaster with three locations within a couple of miles. A $ 4 iced coffee is a miss. Maybe once every couple of weeks I’d go, but for a $ 15 breakfast snack and coffee, I’d rather go to Abbot Kinney and see all the pretty people eat the fancy.

Crappy service. The espressos we ordered took so long that we ended up asking for our money back and headed down the block. The employees could care less about us or the place. The menu is much too expensive. I was once hopeful about this addition to our neighborhood but no longer. Seems anything that opens in that location is cursed by The Whaler.

So excited when the my local neighborhood restaurant/bar did some much needed updates!!! I am so pleased with the new menu — food is delicious! I was so pumped when they rolled out the Whaler to-go, walk up section with fresh juices and coffee drinks. I’ve now gone there several mornings over the past couple weeks and I have brought some of my friends to check it out as well. This was a much needed coffee/juice spot in our neighborhood but unfortunatley I can’t see this business staying around for long. We have all been less than impressed. The juice bar is quite limited and the produce is not kept fresh — also it’s a whopping $ 8 for about 12oz. It doesn’t make sense when I can get more juice with more options just steps away for $ 3 less. The walk-up offers one size of coffee and over ice it’s $ 4. I can’t justify spending $ 4 every morning when I can walk steps down the street to save $ 2.

I was in LA during the weekend and spent part of the day at Venice Beach. My girlfriend and I wanted to get some food as we were leaving so we gave Whaler Take Away a try. We ordered juices and I love to juice at home so I was excited to try, but was disappointed with the first sip. It didn’t taste very fresh and the pizza we ordered took forever. At one point we thought they may have forgotten our order to begin with. The pizza was so so, really small for a pie… more like a personal pan. It crumbled apart as you ate it.

Good pizza, but it takes hella long. I don’t understand why you make one pizza at a time. Get a bigger oven bruh.

For a breakfast burrito that costs $ 9… Definitely needs some work. Their pizza is good for late night but the food is just so expensive for a walk up food stand.

1 star for the pizza, and 1 star for the Chai. Otherwise, this convenient window is bunk. The employees are less than friendly. They forgot my juice and then made something up about the juice machine being ready to explode… meanwhile 3 people who ordered after me got their juice just fine. And, when I tried to order ice cream they said the machine was broken. Oh, and when I asked for an Aqua Fresca… the girl didn’t know what I was talking about and then said they didn’t have any. I felt like I was just taking a crapshoot on everything. With that said, good pizza. A little chilly… but good.

5 star! Great fresh cold pressed juices, groundworks coffee and home made pizza. Plus it’s open morning until 230 am!

The pizza here is one of the best pizzas by the beach that I’ve had in a while. Granted that ingredient might not be top notch but I know that I’ve come here many times for a slice and its never let me down. $ 3 for a slice isn’t bad considering most places in Venice charge a dollar or two more. Ask for Otto he’s the nice window guy.

Pizza USED to be extremely good, but now its incredibly BAD(cheap cheap low quality downgrade), the owner/manager is messing up bigtime. Not worth eating. plus workers are rude. Def wont be back.

Pizzas better than a frozen one! Perfect local/late-night fix. But These guys are the RANCH dressing Nazi’s. Wtf? Dear Whaler, great spot, but do you think you are Fathers Office and you can hold back ketchup from my burger? Just charge extra and break out the bottle of Hidden Valley!

There is nothing much to say, for 3 dollars you get a slice of pizza, not as big and good as costco– but good if you happen to stumble drunk out of one of the strip bars near the area. There is no formal sitting area, it’s a grab and go place, cash only.

$ 3.00 for a slice of vegetable pizza with actual vegetables on it? Three kinds of peppers, mushrooms, onions, and cheese. It was damn good. Cash only, open noon to 2am. I dig the walk up window. Perfect for taking to the beach a few steps away, or for a snack on your walk back home after the beach. They sell sodas and hot dogs too.

I have to disagree with the previous review. The pizza at the whaler is aMAzing! Keep in mind I mean amazing for cheap, by the slice, late night pizza(not gourmet by any means). My boyfriend and I routinely grab one of their $ 3 slices after having a few drinks at the Whaler and it always hits the spot. Cheesy goodness.

Well, I’m one of those people that usually thinks, «there’s really no bad piece of pizza.» But the pizza here really, really challenges that rule.
