Excellent BBQ. I have tried several different plates and each one is five stars. The restaurant started out small and keeps on growing in the size in seating and yes they have an outdoor seating area. Sides are great. Portion size is really great. Wait staff is attentive and quickly removed soiled dishes and filled up drink glasses as well. Glad this restaurant is on my way home. Thanks you for great food.

I couldn’t help but flock to Sam’s. Being named Sam and having a love for BBQ it was natural fit. The food is very good, particularly the brisket and the pork. I think the sandwich and 2 sides deal is the best way to go personally. I also really like that there is a separate area just for to go orders. It helps keep the length of the line down. The only issue I’ve had with Sam’s the two times I’ve been have been problems with the drink machine. Drinks have either been out or not tasted very good. Other than that, Sam’s is a great place for some BBQ.

We each get a brisket sandwich and then share 1 large order of coleslaw. That’s the way senior’s roll. So very delicious. I have never had anything here that wasn’t delicious. We travel for BBQ and this is one of our favorites.

Finally writing a review after having patronized BBQ1 since shortly after they opened. Has it really been over ten years now? Why is Sam’s BBQ1 my family’s go-to for BBQ? Consistently good quality food. The pork is clean and not full of fat blobs and gristle like I’ve had elsewhere. Same for the brisket. With BBQ1 I’m able to clean my plate; other places I end up leaving a bunch of inedible waste. Flavors are good. No single element slaps you in the face, instead they’re a harmony of porcine or bovine sumptuousness. Neither pork or brisket are sauced and neither need it. A couple items aren’t to my particular tastes such as the Brunswick stew and bbq beans, but I appreciate they’re both still great examples and very tasty. I merely prefer a chunkier stew and less sweetness in my bbq beans. Definitely worth a visit.

I would however add the word tasteless to the tuff brisket. Never feels good to be ripped off by an old time favorite!

Had lunch today at BBQ1 in east cobb. As always, awesome bbq. These guys really do a great job with pulled pork, chopped chicken, and smoked sliced turkey. Best mac&cheese ever. Very good fried okra and Brunswick Stew. The real deal folks. AAAAA.

Best BBQ and sides. We love everything here except the sweet tea. The tea is not good at all, but the food is AMAZING and so worth the drive. We hope to enjoy Sam’s delicious bbq for many more years to come.

This is quite possibly the best BBQ I have ever had! It is so good, I had it at my wedding!

Food: I have been to Sams bbq1 several times, and have had the mainstays: ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, Brunswick stew, chicken and most of the sides. The place really has good bbq! Real wood smoked meat, and it is smoked to perfection. Their Mac and cheese is some of the best I’ve ever had. Service: order at a counter, and the food came out in typical speed. Very much self-service, including self-serve drinks. Atmosphere: strange layout and kind of small, but clean. Has a few TVs to catch a game. They have a separate store front(and door) for their take-out.

This place is some of the best bbq I’ve ever had. The brisket, pork and chicken are all amazing. The beans, mac and cheese, and coleslaw are also incredible. Put them all together and it’s one of the best meals I can imagine. My favorite.

Sam’s is very solid. My family had pulled pork, brisket, and sausage. All were awesome and the portions were plenty. The mac & cheese, baked beans, and corn bread were fantastic. The dining room wasn’t anything to get excited about but it was fine. I would call the menu and atmosphere a very traditional BBQ restaurant. There are no obnoxious mashups like you find at Fox Bros(which I love). We will return often. In fairness, it’s fairly close to us. I wouldn’t drive 40 minutes to it like I will to Fox Bros.

Well, I am still a big fan of Sam’s «Q» and their Brisket, Mac and Cheese and Sausage never disappoint. The service and attitude tonight was disappointing. The surprise was our greeting by a bored and ready to get outta there«hostess» who took our order. We told her what we wanted and got a curt«we’re out!»(which happens on a Friday night if you walk in after 7:00) I asked if I could add a side of sausage to the Short Ribs Special and got a «nope.» It was the rolling of the eyes at our questions on the substitutions and no offer or recommendations as to our other options to choose from. THAT was the shocker. Hawt Wife was ready to walk right out, but we ordered our 2nd and 3rd choices, had a nice dinner and I plan on having a nice brisket sandwich tomorrow for lunch. I will chalk it up to youth and the fact that we did not see any management or other employees in the dining room over the age of maybe…23. We will be back… we have kids… it’s about the food here. Right?! Enjoy!

Another no flavor pulled pork barbeque sandwich. They brought out the most pitiful looking meal to my table. Such a small portion I had to ask if that was the normal amount they usually give patrons. On the menu it says it served on a bun but it came on toast bread. When I asked why it was not on a bun the waitress asked me if I specified a bun. Well noone asked if I wanted another choice. Really. This place falls so flat. And to top it off the barbeque didn’t taste good. I recommend you skip this place

This is my favorite BBQ joint. Pulled pork sooo tender. Mac&Cheese is awesome. Very traditional pulled pork with either Kansas City or North Carolina sauces to choose from.

«Do you know of any placed to eat around here? I was looking for like a really good „B.B.Q.“ place. Oh, well I don’t know of a lot of good „B.B.Q.“ places around here but there’s a great „Barbecue“ place that’s not so far away.» — Peter and Vandy(2009) I love a great BBQ joint and let’s face it, BBQ is subjective. We all have our opinions and no one agrees with anyone else. So after living so close to this place for years, and hearing(and reading) mixed reviews, I had a craving and went to grab food for lunch. Now they have 2 places — one is dine-in and two doors down is take-out. Brilliant. No waiting in line during a lunch rush for your take out order amongst all the diners(and vice-versa). So knowing I wanted to bring it back to my desk, I walked into the take-out door. The menu is nicely displayed and quite clear on the wall above the counter with all the options — both lunch and dinner specials, meats, sides, drinks, etc. I opted for the Lunch plates — one pulled pork and one brisket. Mine was the brisket and I decided on the baked beans and the fried okra for my sides with Texas Toast for my bread option. It came with a side of sauce(no drink). Since I would be waiting, I decided to get a tea(half and half) while I waited. They have a couple of chairs for you as you wait, but truly I waited maybe 5 minutes. The lunch plate was a hefty amount of meat and what you would expect for portions for sides. The brisket was super moist and tender — pulling apart with a fork and had a serious amount of smoke to it… bordering on artificial tasting. Add a little sauce and it was perfect. The beans were really very sweet until they hit the back of the throat and then that bit of heat kicked in — very nice. As for the okra — pretty sure this is a frozen product versus a freshly made okra, battered and fried. Too perfect and no crunch to the okra. It was good, but I can buy that at the grocery in the frozen section. I’d rather have it be fresh. The Texas toast was a nice item to have on there to help cut the sweet of the sauce and the beans. I’ll come back again and and try the other items as well. It’s a definite keeper.

Great brisket sammich. U can top it with brunswick stew instead of bbq sauce. Will definitely have to try their ribs next time. This place does brisket right, something heirloom obviously cant come close to. Spacious and clean interior. Walls are lined with trophies from bbq competitions and they certainly deserve the title of being the best bbq place in the A.

I love BBQ and this is some of the best I have had. I have only tried the brisket but it is delicious and the sauce is out of this world. The mac and cheese is delicious too

Great brisket and ribs. The pulled pork was ‘ok’…not much real flavor to it, so I had to hit it with more sauce than I wanted. Back to the brisket… no need for sauce there, it stands on its own… juicy and tender. The ribs were tangy and sweet, slightly charred around the edges, and that really added to the flavor. The sides(mac and cheese /cole slaw) were decent enough. I’d heard good things about the Mac, but in my experience it was way too runny. No style points for the interior, but it’s a BBQ joint… pretty dull one though.

Casual place; order at counter and then they bring it out to you. What a disappointment. After such a write-up in the Atlanta Magazine, and my love for BBQ, I had to check them out. A big eh!!! Brisket was overdone, dry and thinly sliced. One slice had so much fat in it I chewed and then spit it out. However the ribs were very good(not excellent though). Mac n cheese was good, but nothing over the top… I guess I’m not a mac n cheese guy. In fact, when they brought my platter out, the mac n cheese was bone cold. I had to ask them for a reorder, which they brought out two minutes later, and it was piping hot. I’ll have to put them on the bottom half of my bbq places in Atlanta.
