It can be rather slow to get in and out, however the croissants are worth the wait as every variety is excellent! Just be sure to leave enough time to get in and out :)

So this review is not for the restaurant, but for the bakery itself. We went here after driving by it many times and always being interested in stopping by. The place is very pleasing to the eye, as were the desserts, we were excited! Yet the service… not very good. They rudely rushed us to get an order in, then rudely told us to pretty much get out of the way so other people could order. We ordered some desserts and a coffee and hot cocoa. No one ever asked us if it was for here or to go, but we went to cozy up on a table. Out come the drinks looking ugly and unappealing(in such a pretty place filled with yummy things!) in an ugly, unappetizing Styrofoam cup. Gosh I hate styrofoam. Then the coffee-we kinda had high expectations for it-you know, we are ordering it from a nice french bakery– but it was NOT good– at the same level or lower from gas station coffee. The hot cocoa was just OK. So here we are, enjoying our gas station coffee and ok hot cocoa in our styrofoam cups, and out come desserts. GOOD! They were all pretty tasty and definitely raised up the experience some. Overall, the experience might not have been good but we will give it another chance(for the restaurant this time!)

I went here all the time when I lived in Atlanta. I miss the smaller house location before the office people discovered it and it lost its mom and pop charm, but I hope the family is making tons of money. Really, I do. They have delicious food and more people need to eat it. I go there every time I visit Atlanta. I’ve always gotten the panini salmon because it’s just so delicious and I love poached eggs. The bacon is always perfect. Their desserts are fantastic. But. They need a real restaurant manager. The high school kids or whomever they hire cannot wait tables to save their lives. It’s just pitiful. I was gone for 2 years and came back to visit, and it’s the same situation.

Food is great! Service is somewhat slow I had 3 eggs and croissant w/strawberry preserve which melts in your mouth. The tables were not clean when I sat down, I request to have the tables clean. They apologized for the tables being dirty… but a total turn off If you are not in a rush… Great place to check out!

I have had the pleasure of dinning here several times this fall. It is always a delight to select my favorite pastries and breads to take home. Please try a croissant it is a buttery light melt in your mouth experience and today I had their quiche Lorraine. Simply the lightest ever. The fresh bowl of fruit adds to compliment the meal. It is small and seats may vary depending on your choice of time. The fresh baked baguette I take home and enjoy with butter or a sandwich during the week… wishing I had purchased two… I also love the apple pie and will bring one home to the family for the holidays… I have not tried their log Yule cakes but when you observe them in the display case they simply are magical… go see for yourself

I’ve tried a handful of other French bakeries in Atlanta and this one is by far the best. Great selection of cakes, pastries, tarts and mini desserts. They also serve breakfast and lunch. Their chicken pot pie is lip-smacking good! I order it each time I go. If you are in the area, Douceur de France is definitely worth trying.

Douceur de France is my favorite restaurant in Marietta. The food is delicious, the décor is clean and refreshing and the desserts are top notch. I’ve never had the pleasure of visiting France, but visiting this place makes it easy to imagine what it might be like. If you’re in a hurry, this may not be the best place to go on your lunch rush… but if you’re willing to spend an extra few minutes to enjoy a delicious meal and have a fabulous experience, you really should. Some of the younger wait staff can be a little aloof? But they’re generally very friendly. The quiches are delightful, the mushroom soup is to-die-for(as well as the tomato), the salads are very light and fresh, french toast is MMMM mmmm!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I cannot fathom how anyone could give this marvelous little spot anything less than five stars. If you live in Atlanta, count yourself lucky that you can frequent this place as often as you wish. I am totally jealous. Mom and I happened to be in Smyrna on Thursday for a morning appointment and decided to try Douceur de France(The Sweetness of France) for lunch, just a few miles up the road in Marietta. Douceur is a Francophile’s paradise, a delight for all of the senses. Listen well and you will hear conversations in French at nearby tables. If you are not shy, parlez a little français with the friendly French ex-pats. Even the wait staff speak French.(And, of course, the owners are French with thick accents.) The food was impeccable. I’ve been to France 12 times, and I am always on the lookout for authentic French cuisine in the States. This is the best place I’ve been in the Southeast. I’ve been to restaurant/bakeries like this in Knoxville, Savannah, Chattanooga, Orlando, and others in Atlanta, and none come close. I would go into detail about the food and pastries, but why waste words? No matter what you get is going to be scrumptious. Of course, I MUST recommend the tourte de poulet(chicken pot pie, but it’s in a croissant-like crust and the filling’s just soooo gourmet) and the potato-leek soup(which Mom declared is her new favorite soup, hands down). Mom and I each bought about five or six pastries to share with our favorite guys back home, and we were all blown away by the delicate flavors and that they weren’t heavy. They all tasted just like beautiful whispers of sweetness. We could not even pick a favorite, BUT I was most surprised about how wonderful the Paris Brest was. I knew it would be good, but not THAT good. And the best part of all? Everything was reasonably priced. Entrées under $ 10. The quality of food is such that they could charge double. I’m glad they don’t. Oh! I almost forgot! They have a refrigerated section so they you can buy pre-cooked food to take home and warm up for dinners. I bought a Mason jar of that yummy potato-leek soup. They also have boeuf bourginon and other tasty traditional dishes(like ratatouille). They even have hard-to-find merguez for your French North African dishes.

Everything is amazing. Some of the most beautiful pastries I’ve ever seen and the best hash browns this non potato lover had ever had. They were crisp and mixed with green onion and parmesan cheese — simply divine. Their French toast is out of this world as are their quiches and paninnis. I make it a point to come here every time I’m in the area. YUM!

I enjoyed this experience. I’m told this is as close to a genuine French bakery as you can find in Atlanta. Indeed, I wish I could have eaten the delicious pastries and sweets on display: macarons, petits fours, madeleines, eclairs…(I have been known to *do things* for a good chocolate mousse.) But I stuck to the savory stuff, instead. I was not disappointed. Indeed, there are plenty of yummy & savory things on the menu. Like the Croque Monsieur(bread, Bechamel sauce — white sauce, smoked ham, and Swiss cheese) or the Quiche Lorraine(ham, bacon, and Swiss cheese). In addition to individual quiches, Douceur de France serves up sandwiches on croissants or baguette, hot soups… There are even breakfast items like French toast made with brioche dipped into crème brûlée batter, paninis, and omelettes. I had the Bef Bourginon(Beef stew slowly cooked in Burgundy wine with bacon, onion, and mushrooms. Served over country bread or rice.) Fantastic. This totally hit the spot. And I had a Caesar salad(Yes. Caesar. Perhaps the least French thing on the menu. Still delicious.) Service was fairly quick that day, though I’m told that sometimes things bog down during the lunch rush. And prices seemed a little high. But as I said, I did enjoy the experience. And I’ll happily return. Holler if you’re coming with.

So I didn’t actually eat here but I got a lot of items to go. The croissants were really good and they do have some authentic French items that you cannot find anywhere else. Where they fall a bit short is that they don’t have traditional brioche. Still on the hunt for those.

its a little bit on the outside of marietta square, but we found it… you can tell its french the minute you walk in … they whole various types of desserts, full cakes n slices macarons… we got the opera cake 4⁄5 caramel layer cake 5⁄5 one of the best desserts ever. the pistachio macaron was 7⁄10 but the caramel i had was too chewy but tasted stale it was the last one. the seating is really nice– even have a fireplace. cute dessert place. would recommend…

Picked up some desserts from this cute place. I tried the éclair, paris brest, strawberry shortcake and pecan pie. I enjoyed every piece of them. Pecan pie was my favorite. Fresh dough and rich filling inside each piece. I wish they make Mille-feuille or napoleon with powder sugar and more cream. It looked skinny to me. Service was good. Everyone is smiling and offering help. My only issue with this place is the variety. I wish they have more things to try because you don’t find this quality and creativity anywhere else.

I love Chicken Pot Pie!!! Ok soo… Chicken pot pie is one of my favorite things to eat. I mean flaky buttery crust and delicious chicken filling. Does it get better than that? If someone is making chicken pot pie i can smell it from a mile away… Ive had chicken pot pie from alot of places far and wide so i wasn’t sure where this one would rank. So on a coldish rainy afternoon I ventured over here and… when i saw chicken pot pie on the menu, I knew I had to have it. The 5 stars is for the best chicken pot pie I have had hands down. I mean wow. It was warm, flaky, buttery the insides were flavorful. The sauce was fantastic just the right amount to satisfy you. As I am writing this, I’m trying to figure out when next I can have it. The restaurant is nice and cozy there are a ton of baked goods to choose from. I got the hot chocolate as well and it was delicious. Not overly sweet at all Great place! Ill be back

EATINGFROMTHESAMEPOT! My experience with the Douceur de France bakery in Roswell was quite forgettable, but I wanted to see if this location would be different. I went in and ordered the same pastry, the blueberry with cheese. It did not look as appetizing as it should have but I decided to give it a try anyway,(sucker!). While this pastry was not a tough as the previous pastry, it was just as tasteless. I could not taste the blueberries or the cheese. How in the world,(keepin it clean), do you cook the taste out of blueberries and cream cheese? Let me just say this: If you think this location is better than the Roswell location, you are sadly mistaken because you are literally eating from the same pot. Perhaps you will have better luck with the savory options but if a French bakery can’t properly execute a very basic french pastry then what’s the point? SMH!

This bakery is so cute!!! It seems like the perfect place to catch up with friends over coffee and pastries. Unfortunately, I stopped by on my lunch break so all I had time to do was pick up a few items to go. They had a nice variety of treats from croissants and tarts to macarons. It was hard to decide since they looked so pretty. I picked out a Pain au Chocolat, three Macarons, a Crème Brulee and a Rieme lemonade. The macaron flavors I tried were lemon, vanilla bean and lavender. All three were light with a meringue crisp on the outside and a chewiness on the inside. I wish I got the box of 8 for $ 13.65 but I’ll know next time. The only item I had an issue with was the Pain au Chocolat. It was buttery with a nice flaky texture but I wondered what happened to the chocolate. Other versions I’ve had before had a thick chocolate center. In contrast, this one had a Pixy Stix-thin ribbon of chocolate that ended after a couple bites. Not quite my idea of chocolate bread. Still, all in all, Douceur’s was a worthwhile stop. The next time I’m in Marietta I’ll definitely return to indulge in more of Douceur’s French pastries.

Stopped in for a coffee and to try the pastries when I had an errand in Marietta. Tres charming! I even had the atmospheric pleasure of hearing a French conversation at the next table. The bakery case is very enticing. I had an almond croissant and a Tigre. The Tigre could have had more flavor in the cake part, but the croissant was perfection. Good coffee too, although I didn’t like the little plastic tubs of creamer. I want real half & half in a pitcher please! Lunch at surrounding tables looked divine, as did the cooler of refrigerated items to take home for dinner(beef bourgignon, poulet basquaise, blanquette de veau, quiches).

Douceur de France Marietta has relocated since I originally posted my review, so it’s time for an update. In Summer 2011, the French restaurant moved from a small cottage in an industrial part of town to a spacious building on South Marietta Parkway(South 120 Loop), close to Marietta Square. I think the menu is bigger too. I’ve been to the new location several times with my coworkers for lunch. I’ve also stopped by to pick up macarons from the bakery. This place remains as popular as ever, but thanks to additional staff and seating, the waits for table and food orders aren’t nearly as bad as it used to be. The new space has separate sections for the bakery and dining areas. The atmosphere remains casual and there’s still outdoor patio seating. Douceur de France is open Monday through Saturday, 7:00am to 6:00pm. Breakfast and lunch are served all day until 3:30pm. After that, only the bakery remains open. No dinner service. Most menu items are under $ 10 each, so the prices are affordable. Examples of some of the cuisine offered include omelettes, ratatouille(vegetable stew), beef bourguignon(beef Burgundy), baguettes, panini sandwiches, tartines(open-faced sandwiches), French toast, soups, salads, and crepes. Both sweet and savory crepes are available. One of the savory crepes uses Patak meats. The sweet crepes are customizable. Recommendations: Croque Mademoiselle — pullman bread, Bechamel, ham, Swiss, fried egg Quiche Lorraine(ham, bacon, Swiss), spinach, or quiche of the day Chicken Pot Pie — chicken, Swiss, onions, Bechamel, parsley, mushroom sauce Green salad Macarons The Croque Mademoiselle is a variation of the Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame with a fried egg on top. These sandwiches are delicious from the melted Swiss to the rich Bechamel. The bread is great too. I’ve run into some dry/tough ham, but nothing the white sauce couldn’t fix. The Quiche and Chicken Pot Pie are among the best I’ve tried at any restaurant, though admittedly, I haven’t tried these two items at many restaurants. The quiche is light, soft, fluffy, and packed with flavor. Every bite is fantastic. The chicken pot pie is much the same way, but more hearty and savory. It’s phenomenal. I love the mushrooms and the creamy mushroom sauce that comes with the chicken pot pie. Both the quiche and the chicken pot pie have tasty flaky, pastry-like crusts. Do yourself a favor and order one. I normally wouldn’t have much to say about a green salad, but the one here is spectacular. Not only are the greens fresh and crisp, but the balsamic dressing they use is addictively good. They got it just right. As noted in my previous review, the macarons are simply amazing. Definitely get at least one or two on your way out. You won’t be disappointed. I like the vanilla and caramel flavors. Some of the macarons have different textures. For example, the vanilla is soft and airy, while the caramel feels thick and sticky. Be sure to browse the bakery and check out the multitude of cakes and pastries for sale. Freshly made, pre-packaged soups, quiches, and other foods are available for purchase as well. Service is good. Many of the American staff can speak French with the appropriate accents convincingly well. Like I would know. Bön appetit!
