Had some time to kill before going to the courthouse and this place hit the spot! Had some fresh made breakfast wraps and they were delicious. The gentleman that helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable and very helpful! Will be back as soon as I can.

I’m a sucker for cafes. I have a sweet tooth. I watch too much Food Network and wanted to try meat pies lol. When I found out about AustraIian Bakery Café, I had to come and try it. I’ve never been to Marietta Square but it’s cute and crowded around noon time. Luckily, I came around 11 am to avoid the crazy lunch crowd and got a parking spot up close,. The lady greeted me right away and was really nice and courteous. She was very knowledgeable about everything I asked. Honestly, everyone there were so nice. Every time a worker came up front, they made sure to greet me. Since I wanted to try a meat pie really bad, I opted for the chicken pepper jack pie. It was huge too and cost $ 5. It was bigger than most of the other meat pies($ 4) that were smaller. I ended up getting the éclair and pavlova too. I took them all to go so I could eat at my desk in the office. The éclair is the best éclair I’ve ever had. I love the crunchy texture but soft interior filled with yummy creaminess. The pavlova is soooooo good. I’m drooling just thinking about it. It is egg white meringue filled with whipped cream, topped with fruits. It was the perfect sweetness for me! The chicken pepper jack pie is good. The flavors were there. However, I was a little disappointed with the texture since it’s so big and is wimpy when holding it. I thought it would have more of a crustiness on the outside. Regardless, I am still happy and will go back. I want to try more. Of course, get the pavlova again.

Love the meat pies! Some are a little smaller so I usually end up getting two. And they have some tasty deserts available as well. I love the Down Under décor and challenge friends on whether they can properly place each of the provinces in Australia.

After standing in line for 2.5 hours for record store day I dropped by here to grab breakfast before leaving town. Everything in the bakery case looked quite good and I ended up settling on a vegetable pasty. I grew up in a place where pasties were an actual restaurant fare. This one had a great crust, tasty fillings(although could have used some more moisture, which I may have inadvertently lost while having it heated up) and quite a variety in the rest of the place. Many people were sitting to eat, and there was also a small grocery area with foreign items to buy, many being candy I have found outside the US. I would definitely go back for other food, and perhaps the vanilla slice. I don’t know what it is, but I want to try it.

Loved this bakery! They have all sort of meat pies and breakfast and lunch options. My favorite was the beef and pepper pie. It had so much flavor. The Australian sausage wrap or pie was so good too. The coffee good. The sweets were amazing! Not overwellmingly sweet. The people were super nice and friendly. You definitely have to check this place out.

I absolutely LOVE this place. I’ve probably gone at least once a week. I normally get the Shepard’s pie meat pie with cheese and an original meat pie and it’s amazing! The meat has a nice flavor between sweet and salty and the crust it sits on is super flaky. With the Shepard’s pie it has that nice layer of mashed potatoes and cheese that just make it all amazing! I also had the baklava and cheesecake square and the cheesecake square lived up to my expectations, it did taste like cheesecake. It was good but considering it was only a small portion I can’t really say it was amazing. But the baklava? Being as it was my first time trying baklava I had no idea of what to expect. There were layers of crust almost like a thinner version of croissant or even just a sliced up puff pastry, and there was what looked like a nutty layer, almost like pistachios or something of the sort. I took my first bite into it and was immediately addicted. I’m not sure what baklava is supposed to taste like but I was in absolute heaven. Can’t wait to go back and try more, hopefully new things!

Awful! Nothing was good. Tried a few things. Dry and tasteless. I grew up near a variety of bakeries. This was a huge disappointment. Don’t bother. Just being honest.

The bf and I choose this spot bc, well, it has Australia in its name. Lol. The café itself was small, but there is enough room for a good amount of small groups. The Aussie meat pie was interesting and pretty good. Think of it as their version of a chicken pot pie. It was somewhat small imo… It just felt as if it was missing a side. Tbh, a side could have been included or an increase in quantity/size would be nice. The down under beef I ordered was fresh. They didn’t have the roast beef, but I did the pork substitute. It didn’t disappoint though. The pork was juicy and tender. The café also has other items: sauces, breads, candy, soda, the typical baked goods, and misc items.

Would not even give it a star at all!!! Breakfast was horrible!!! I had French toast-serving size was large, bread was too thick with barely any batter soaked in the bread(middle of slices still white and dry) with pre packaged 1oz syrup packs. They must have cooked on the flat top that was used for some garlic dish. My husband had the scramble egg platter, eggs sausage and hash browns, he ordered a biscuit but got a croissant. When we ordered we were told they were out of bacon but our table was next to a cooler and I saw 3 pounds of bacon just waiting to be cooked. The only thing that was fresh on the plate was the eggs. The sausage was the strangest piece of meat or product I had ever seen, McDonalds work have been 10 times better than this meal!!! Very sorry I waisted my time and money here today!!!

While generally not a fan of fried fish, the sampling of their fish ‘n chips on a food tour, piqued my interest to come back. Not greasy, light — the fish was pretty darned good. This time T. and I ordered meat pies. He chose lamb curry, I picked buffalo chicken. The consensus: mine was better! Plenty of chicken, a nice zingy sauce, flaky pastry — it was good. Perhaps it was an off day, but the lamb pie didn’t have much lamb. The curry was very good, but the pastry pocket needed more meat. Saturday late morning, the place is hopping. Plenty of patrons. A little bit of a wait. Snag a table when you see one. There are plenty of things on the menu — I’m gonna try something different next time — and I heard their homemade bread, sold by the loaf, is very good and well-priced.

We visited this bakery when passing through Atlanta. The staff were friendly, personable and made our five children and us feel like we were family. The food was superb. We got a lot of food for the price. It was fresh and homemade. We will be ordering things to be delivered since we won’t be able to visit in person.

The café offers a bit of everything. There’s a wall of imported goods from Wales, South Africa, Australia, etc. They even have knick-knacks like stuffed animals. It’s an active establishment with employees that enjoy working there. I received great customer service and was able to chat with my cashier for a bit. I honestly don’t have any experience with Australian food beside my experiences here, so do what you will with my review. You cannot beat the Ned Kelly, which has bacon bits and a cracked egg on top. I love the savory gravy and would recommend any of their steak/meat pies, but the chicken and breakfast pies are also delicious. Honorable mentions are the curry pies, veggie pies, and flaky sausage/veggie rolls. As for desserts, I’ve only had the Lamington and I believe it was fairly priced for the large portion you get. You can buy food to take home, but if you do, make sure you ask for instructions on how to bake the pie(if they haven’t already told you). It’s just not the same if you microwave it.

We really enjoy the meat pies here for lunch do we thought we’d try breakfast. We won’t be back for breakfast. I had the spinach, egg, and feta pie. It had a strange flavor and I think it had onions which I don’t like. It was edible but not something I will ever order again. My husband had the scrambled egg platter. It was okay. The biscuit was pretty good. Oh well, we came we tried.

As an Aussie living in Texas I was so happy to find this place online. I order my pies and have them shipped to me. They are exactly what you’d get Australia. My American friends love them and agree there isn’t an American equivalent. So if you can’t make it into the store, but still want to eat an Aussie meat pie, order them and have them shipped out. When I want a little taste of home, these are the pies I reach for.

This place is only getting two stars because their food was somewhat decent, had the food sucked as bad as the service it would’ve been a one. Setting: Saturday, October 3rd at 11 am. Wanna be hipster with makeshift dreads attempting to take orders and work the cash register. Order of events: –walk in, notice it’s busy, there’s about 5 people in line with additional customers at tables — waiting in line, got cut by a family –once to the register, I told the cashier my order, which I then had to repeat 3 times, all while telling her it was a to go order –waited 20 minutes while noticing that the family that cut me got their entire order, sat down and finished it all in the time I was waiting for a TOGO order. Additionally, the cashier brought food to customers that ordered after me, sat down and prayed with them, and they finished their food and left in the time I was still standing there. –was finally brought my food, on plates, so they then had to go and put it in boxes… a task that should take all of 30 seconds but somehow got turned into another 5 minutes –after roughly 30 minutes of waiting, watching numerous customers come in eat and leave, I finally got my 4 heated pies TOGO. PSA: They have a picture of Shrek the Sheep hanging amongst their Australian memorabilia… Shrek happened to be from New Zealand.

We finally had a chance to visit the bakery today. And we were NOT disappointed.. Let me start with all of the smiling faces that are eager to greet you as you walk in. Everyone is very welcoming and friendly. We ordered the curried lamb, the sausage roll and the chicken(large flaky dough). The curried lamb: EXCELLENT!!! Very flavorful, nice texture. As you can see with the picture. The chicken: very good and flaky. There is ample filling. The crust is a bit over flaky but is manageable with a fork. I’m not able to tell you what I think about the sausage as I didn’t get it with the to go package(Reason for four stars).

ANAUSSIEBAKERY? NOWAY! YESWAY! When you say pie, I say okay. When we noticed this Australian Bakery, we were immediately interested in checking it out. They have a vast selection of meat and veggie pies along with various desserts. We decided to check out a couple of the meat pies, the shephard pie and the traditional meat pie. Although I assumed that these pies would have a heavy crust, I was surprised because they were actually lighter than expected and the perfect vehicle for the meat. They were a balanced bite. The problem with these pies is that they are just way too salty for me and I prefer my savory pie with a good supply of veggies. It’s just not my thing. On the other hand, Mr. High blood pressure loved them –salt, meat and bread. He was in heaven! Perhaps next time, I will try a dessert option. Remember, this store also carries packaged foods and snacks so there are several options for trying something new or different. This store was seemed very popular with the locals as the staff interacted with the customers and addressed them by name. The store was pretty busy during the lunch hour but everything still flowed smoothly. Next time you’re in the area, give it a try!

In third grade the Australian bakery came to my class for an «in school field trip». They brought meat pies and delicious chocolate sponge cake. Being a libertarian, this was the only positive of public school, and almost made it worth it. When I, an 8 year old American boy tried a meat pie for the first time, it made me realize that everyone I knew was stupid for not eating these for every meal every day. It is that good. I have continued going to the Australian bakery for over a decade now, never to be disappointed. The Australian bakery is extremely authentic, the workers are helpful and nice, and most of all, the food is incredible. Anything less than 5 stars would be a hate crime.

I’m Australian. I can tell you that all the meat pies they sell here are pretty much what it tastes like in Australia. I usually order the plain meat pie and I usually buy frozen snags(sausages) bulk here amd party pies when I have barbies at my house. They also secretly sell Dim Sims here too, which is sold in every take away shop in australia… i wouldnt even know how to explain one to you lol, just have a go and taste one. I like them. lol The variety of groceries is good too, I mostly buy the canned passion fruit coz i bake a lot of pavlova at home and this is the only place I can find them. Bottom line the sausage rolls and the meat pies are pretty authentic, the pavlova too…

Amazing! A taste of home for my meat pie loving self! Being an Aussie the one thing I miss more than anything about home is a meat pie and sausage roll. I was so excited when my husband and I were finally able to make a trip up here and I enjoyed myself. There is no doubt that the pie you’ll eat here will make you feel like your at your local bakers back home where you pop in for some fresh bread and the smell of the pies have you leaving with one in hand! I enjoyed myself we went back twice while we were in Atlanta and even brought myself some goodies to bring home! The best part is that they will ship their items to you!

Long review so hold tight! My husband is from Queensland, AU and all I hear about are these Aussie meat pies and something that the locals call a snotblock. Sounds appetizing, eh? Well, after a year, he finally got a meeting with a large company in Atlanta, GA and he was beaming with excitement. On the way to the big city of ATL, we stopped off in this quaint area of Marietta. This small place has a round-about in the center with shops and on street parking. This day in particular, each shop had an outdoor seating area, there was a farmers market and live music in the square. I felt like I was walking into Mayberry but better! As we approached this bakery, the smell wafting from the doors was one of heavy gravy, like a thanksgiving meal. My husband at this point is run/walking. The line was around the block. I was ready to eat, anything really, and suggested we go to the café down the street. One sharp look was all I needed to know we were staying put. About 20 minutes later, we finally got inside. The widows were decorated with everything Aussie, from a Kangaroo to the makeshift ant hills larger than me! As you look up, all seven of the states flags are hanging and to the right you can purchase Aussie goods such as the Tim Tam candy and Violet Crumble. Yes, you want both. We walk up to the counter and low and behold, another Aussie, who by the way, is from the same small town as mu husband and they already knew each other. He introduced me to Nevil, and explained how un-enthusiastic I was about the meat pie and snotblock, in US terms Vanilla Slice. Nevil took a shining to me immediately and brought out a plate full of goodies for me to try. Some meat pies, sausage rolls, vanilla slice, lambington, Pavlova and something else I cannot remember. What I DO remember is that the pastry was to die for. When it is hot outside pastry gets soggy and when it is cold ooutside it crumbles. It was perfect. Better than perfect, it was suburb. I took one bite of this meat pie and scarfed it down so fast I had hiccups. I went back for seconds. Actually, my husband made me stop at 2 b/c of desert. The sausage roll was not as good as the meat pie, but then again, I am not a sausage fan. I true Aussie meat pie… you have to go get one. Now on the this snotblock a.k.a. Vanilla Slice. It is a puff pastry with creamy hand made custard that sits atop a pile of hand whipped cream. It moves like jello, but it is the color of snot! Thus in the AU they call it a snotblock. Yeah, once you take one bit you get over that name really quickly. In fact, so quickly you share a second helping. The Pavlova was also on our agenda. A sugar crunch with texture almost like cotton candy. It melts in your mouth immediately after you take a bite. I cannot lie, I have ordered several boxes of meat pies and had them shipped up here and I go out of my way to hit Marietta every time I have to drive through GA. If you can’t get there, order them. You will never want another form of meat pie in your life. Promise.

This is definitely one of my favorite places on the Square. Its a cute little place with a great varitey of meat pie and sandwiches. They even have authentic Australian products and drinks that you can buy. The café has a nice feel to it, with plenty of tables inside as well as a few right outside the door. I recommend sitting outside, its in the shade and its the perfect place to people watch while you enjoy your meal. The food is great, too. They have yummy breakfast served all day, and for lunch there’s a wide variety of meat pies and sandwiches to chose from, as well as a few salads. The bakery offers lots of different baked goods, all of which are very good.(I’ve tried most of them.) I’d definitely recommend this place. The staff is very nice, the food is great, and its an overall unique and enjoyable experience. Definitely add this one to your list of «must-see’s» :)

In search of the Travel Channel Food shows. number 2. What a great little town. I almost didn’t get my wife to the restaurant because she wanted to go into all the little stores along the way. But I was hungry. As I walked in, I muttered to her, «the meat pies, the meat pies, the meat pies, it’s their specialty.» The display is right in front of you as you walk to the counter. The guy behind the counter says, «what’ll you have?» My wife says, «I’ll have the Turkey Sandwich». The Turkey Sandwich??? She says it was pretty good. Sigh. I had two of the meat pies… The Aussie Meat Pie and the Ned Kelly. no fries, just a soda. These were great. The owner came by and we had an over 5 minute chat. Not just one of those«hey, how are you doing. thanks for stopping by», but a little history of the place, talked about the German football team winning the World Cup and«what the heck are the rules in Australian football.(i’ve watched it about 15 times and I still don’t understand the rules completely. It’s reminds me of a game you’d get when a whole bunch of completely drunk guys got together and decided to make up their own game. Anyway, the pies are great. I’m going to order some and have them shipped to Tampa. Heading back up to Nashville in a month. will definitely stop by.

Everyone there is super friendly and happy to tell you about all the pies and other pastries. I was craving something sweet and salty so I decided to get the spinach and feta quiche and a hedgehog slice. The quiche was the perfect size for breakfast and the hedgehog was so freaking good. The hedgehog is hazelnut coconut fudge. I definitely cant wait to go back and try one of their pies.

The Marietta Square is my new home away from home!!! Scoutmob brought me to this Australian Bakery Café for lunch yesterday. My lunch buddy and I are always looking for something different. The look of the place was extremely cute, very cultured. I didnt like that I was next in line and some gentleman from the back came out and started assisting the person behind me, with there food items. Do betta! My first experience with Sheppard’s Pie was a great one. It was everything I imagined when reading the description. I also order the Dundee Turkey combo with potato salad instead of chips to go and a german chocolate brownie. Everything was good except the potato salad. I’m not a fan of the potato salad at all. I keep getting mixed reaction on whether the potatoes are suppose to be undercooked or not. I have no clue, but I almost took it back, I was expecting chunky but not crunchy.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite sometime, so for an afternoon snack I decided to drop by and get something to go. Well the shop is interesting and has lots of things to check out, but I was more interested in food. I wasn’t quite sure where to place my order so I walked around to the register, other places you can order at the bakery case… They need signs on where to place an order or someone should actually greet you when you come in… Anyway I’d checked out the menu outside so I knew what I wanted… the spinach triangle or «spanikopita». I also had a few questions but the guy at the register seem put out that he had to answer them, but it was my first time there, just wasn’t made to feel comfortable by this cashier. So I ordered the spinach triangle, checked to make sure it was vegetarian and waited for it to be heated. Now for anything that’s served in a crust of anysort at a bakery… I expect it to be crispy… I was wrong it was soft almost mushy and I do not like mushy foods. Also the spinach was not a brillant green but a dull collard green color… I had to double check that it was spinach. And to serve it in a paper bag, it was just too soft to hold with one hand if that was the plan. I’m not impressed but I may go back to try something else, but it won’t be for awhile…

My brother has been talking about this place forever even had it «book marked» for well, awhile & out of curiosity finally got my ass over to a different side of town for a change with Australian Bakery in mind. This place has not disappointed me and for those of you who have not tried it you may want too. Tons of options breakfast, lunch, maybe something for dinner later, savory or not try them and for those of you who are thinkin eh whatever some of these are like mini pot pies so try at least one. Lamb Curry — Yes you can actually taste the lamb it is cut into small bites and mixed with the standard carrots, potatoes and peas with a curry sauce while not spicy is flavorful. *Have had the chicken Curry too get it.* Shepard’s Pie — Beef again in small bites has just enough beefy sauce in it but does not overwhelm the pastry it is covered with a thin layer of whipped potatoes and can be topped with or without cheese at no extra cost. . *Beef & onion reminds me of french onion soup without the spoon.* Fish n chips — The fish was good it was mild and tasty as was the breading really enjoyed eating this and wish I had gotten two pieces instead of one it didn’t need anything as far as sauce and was told that it was«Orange Roughy,» The fries let them know you want them cooked a bit more otherwise they taste like unsalted soft baked potatoes. If you are no sure what to order ask the staff find out their favorites there is a gal who works there that has been honest with me on likes and dislikes of both her and the patrons who come here. I really appreciate the honesty and will look forward to where she will direct my taste buds next. This would be a nice substitution for quiche on the weekends or maybe finger food come game day in the fall. *New bites will be added to this list in the future.
