Food is good, Italian beef is best in Atlanta and Chicago dogs are on par with dogs from home. Problem is security of location and owner. First off, this is not the safest place in Marietta. Street vendors are always trying to hustle you for car repairs in parking lot and can get confrontational. My wife felt very threatened and approached the owner for help. His response was, «she shouldn’t look at them». My concern is that it seems like there may be an arrangement or allowance by the owner to have these guys on property. I approached him years ago about similar problem and he played Chicago hard ass with me too. Stay away, not safe

If I were at home in Chicago and ate here maybe I wouldn’t be so generous with the stars… but after being in Atlanta for seven months and having a Chicago meal experience I’m turning into the girl that wants to hug everyone and clink her glass with random strangers. Their hot dog is good… great actually. Their polish game is strong. Their Italian beef gets the job done but can’t touch a Jay’s beef or Johnny’s. The deciding factor of the beef’s deliciousness will be how long you’ve been away from Chicago. For my next visit I plan on trying the gyro. I’ve never been a pizza puff fan but it’s worth noting they have them. Same with the tamales! Anyway, if you’re reading this and living in Atlanta but from Chicago just know there is a girl that understands how you feel and she wants you to know that you will find a bit of short lived happiness at the end of your hot dog. Enjoy!

Chicago Delights is an authentic Chicago-style hot dog joint in Marietta. It used to be located in a small standalone building down the street( ), closer to the Big Chicken and Cobb Parkway. Today, the restaurant has a bigger, more open space and is located close to Harry’s Farmers Market, Baldinos Subs, and Williamson Bros. BBQ. Chicago Delights’ hot dogs are good stuff. They offer hot dogs in roughly 10 different varieties. They also have bratwursts, Polish sausage, Maxwell Street Polish(Polish sausage topped with grilled onion, yellow mustard, pickle, and sport peppers), Italian beef, Italian sausage, Sloppy Joe sliders, and more. The hot dogs are delicious and a great value at $ 2.35 to $ 2.85 each(except for the $ 3.60 jumbo dog), which makes this place pretty much a no-brainer. It’s a classic, no frills, hot dog joint without inflated pricing. It’s hard to go wrong with most of the dogs and sausages on the menu. My favorite dogs are the Chicago dog($ 2.35) and the chili slaw dog($ 2.85). By default, the Chicago dog is made with an all-beef frank topped with yellow mustard, chopped white onion, bright green sweet pickle relish, a pickle spear, one tomato slice cut in half, a mildly spicy, pickled sport pepper, and celery salt, all inside a poppy seed bun. Note: All dogs served here are served inside a poppy seed bun. The chili slaw dog is hearty and comforting. The chili is smoother as opposed to chunky and the slaw its fair share of mayo. If you want to try something different, order one of the housemade Francheesies($ 3.95). The Francheesie is a jumbo dog that’s stuffed with cheddar cheese, wrapped in bacon, and deep fried. It’s topped with mustard, mayo, and onion by default. I have to admit, it’s not as good as it sounds, but it’s still OK for a change of pace. The Italian beef is served Chicago-style, on a roll and dipped in au jus(gravy). It can be blanched with sweet peppers or housemade giardiniera(a spicy mix of pickled vegetables). Hot dog franks, buns, Italian beef, giardiniera, and sport peppers can also be purchased in bulk. Be sure to check out the restaurant’s satisfying specials, which typically include a dog/sausage or two, chips/fries, and a fountain drink for about $ 6 – 7. According to their menu, Chicago Delights uses their own recipe to cook their Italian beef. Other beef products(franks) are sourced from Red Hot Chicago. The restaurant is plain and casual. They sell hot dogs and that’s pretty much it. A lot of Chicago memorabilia from the old location has made it over to the new location. Lots of sports paraphernalia, some signed by athletes like Will Perdue(former Chicago Bulls player) and tennis great Pete Sampras. Service is quick and friendly. The lady taking orders likes to call you«baby» which makes you feel special.

Update below: Well I am torn about this place, I will say this I am going to come back. It’s close to my house. Onto the explanation. Appearance, clean parking lot easy to get in and out of. Inside things were clean and seemed well kept. Staff, the young lady who greeted me and took my order was very friendly answered a question I had and in general was pleasant to work with. There was two«cooks» work. One had a a little problem controlling the profanity coming out of his mouth on a very regular basis. There was no kids or family’s in the place but it’s still fairly unprofessional. The food! Back to the young lady she took my order right but the cook did things a little differently. Two chilli cheese dogs with frys and a drink. $ 9. OK. But when my name was called there was chilli and slaw on the hotdogs. I tried it, it wasn’t bad! So I will come back and get chilli and cheese next time. Worth a second look to see if things are improved upon. Ok so still wanting a good hot dog I had sometime to come back and try things out. Much better this time, same order but I was given chili cheese dog that tasted good. I will be back, only thing now is some root beer on tap! Not quite 5 stars because hours are a little hard to make but still very good.

So… how about, I just had my first Chicago-style hot dog about a year ago. With that being said, you can take this review with a grain of(celery) salt lol. I happened to be up in the Marietta area and decided that I wanted a hot dog before heading back down to Atlanta. The Unilocal app led me here! Its off to the side of a busy-ish road and the parking lot is rough, but there was only one other patron in the establishment so I found a space up front. I was reminded of a cafeteria with the setup of Chicago Delights. It’s clean and spacious, with a more oldschool(80’s I guess) feel. They even have those white menu boards with the black stick-on letters. Anyway, they seem to have a prett good selection as far as this type of food is concerned. And it’s pretty cheap; I got 2 dogs for under $ 6! The dog itself could have been a tad more flavorful, I’ll admit but the toppings were all so fresh(ripe, juicy tomatoes… you’d think those were hard to come by with all the establishments using hard, grainy-looking tomato imposters!). And they steamed the poppyseed bun beautifully. It all came together really well, actually. I definitely wouldn’t mind making another trip here next time I’m on this side of town.

Not from Chicago when it comes to Italian Beef… this beef has been pre-sliced and boiled in broth. The peppers were added late in the game. The bread ain’t that which is used in Chicago so… don’t even bother getting the Italian Beef if you have been to Chicago and know what they really taste like. Chicago dogs are fine… not outrageous but fine. Service is excellent and friendly.

This is now my go-to place for hot dogs. This may not mean much since my original go-to was whenever the local Home Depot would cook some up for free. Frankly, I had no idea Chicago had their own hot dogs. This is probably because hot dogs in the South are pretty basic — a generic wiener in a generic bun with some generic ketchup and mustard. Maybe some relish if you wanted to get crazy. But these Chicago hot dogs — now, they have some character. Some kind of wiener in a poppy seed bun with onions, some kind of pepper, pickles, tomato and mustard, and… man, I don’t know. Get two of these and some root beer and you’re good to go. This doesn’t mean that I’m going to abandon the Home Depot dog. A free hot dog is a free hot dog, right? I give this place five stars because now, I regard the dog differently.

If you’ve never had a truly Chicago Hot Dog, go to Chicago Delights. They are authentic, and the homemade Italian Beef is delicious. Their new location is simple, but the food is terrific.

Everything about this restaurant is wonderful. The food is fresh and so delicious, and the staff are So incredibly nice. I love the Italian Beef, but my fave dish is their Gyros. SO full of meat, tomatoes, tzatziki, and a sprinkle of feta on a warm pita. Fantastic lunch, and their prices are VERY reasonable.
