Grassy Key Outpost Market &Grill

Kind of a strange place. Most of the building is taken up by a sort of high-​end convenience store; there are only three or four tables. Food is priced for tourists. Service was fine; calamari was fine; Caesar salad was quite good. I shared a pepperoni pizza with my dad. As was advertised on the menu, it had ‘lots of pepperoni.’ The problem is that a pizza with a lot of pepperoni turns into a puddle of grease. I guess it’s out fault for ordering it.

This is a great restaurant! They have a very talented chef! Should definitely give this place a try! You won’t be sorry…

What a GREAT place! The food is DELICIOUS, the service is friendly and warm and WOW! Very clean and well kept. I am referring to it as the «Whole Foods» of Marathon or a really nice Market/​Bistro in Europe. GOOD JOB!

After a long day of scuba lessons and being sleep deprived and starving this place did not disappoint. Everything from key lime pie to mamas meatloaf to brussel sprouts app was to die for. We were sat down and this business got slammed right after. Rightfully so. The owner was the nicest guy ever. I hardly thank people for the food but since he asked I had to tell them everyone did a fantastic job. In my opinion, I think he should get rid of the store shelves and open up the whole place for dining. Betcha they’d make more money. It still is great they sell stuff like otc medicines and hygiene products that way you don’t have to drive so far to find a drug store. When I go back I’m definitely paying them another visit. Bravo!

We were very pleased with our server. We sat at the bar so that we could be quick. Some waitress was very stressed out & kept yelling at the guy behind the bar & he handled it very well. Always smiling. We felt bad that he had to deal with her but he was great. Glad he was our server, he was amazing. He was kind, attentive, professional & very patient LOL. Poor guy. I think he said his name is Russ. Good prices & good food. Tip Russ well, he is a nice guy & works hard. He spent every moment that he was not serving or helping solve problems cleaning his station.

Food is superb. Wait staff are super friendly. Convenient to those of us stuck north of Marathon. A little pricey but the food is well worth it!

Prices to high for food. No value here. Food quality just OK. Ordered meatloaf had half raw bacon strip on it and taste fair. Also ordered pizza $ 20 not worth price. $ 7.77 pizza at Papa Johns much better.

My husband really enjoyed this lunch spot. We shared a tuna sandwich (upgraded the side to truffle fries), and the pulled pork lettuce wraps. The food was fresh, presented nicely, and tasted great. An 18% gratuity was automatically added to our bill, which I found to be a tacky practice. Otherwise, everything was good and we’ll probably come back to try their breakfast.

As far as roadside cafes go in the Keys, this is 5-​star, so clean, fresh food and friendly service! Had the key lime pie, chicken club and chili — all so fresh and good! Highly recommend!

The Brussels sprouts chips were amazing! Their soup of the day was a wild mushroom soup that tickled the tastebuds.

Went here for breakfast with a large group and no one had bad meal! We even took key lime pies home for our family. I can’t wait to go back!

Stopped by to get some food on our way to Key West… Market and a restaurant in one, a local place for folks to stop by to pick up grocery and a stop for tourist to grab some food on their journey.
We ordered water for drinks, as for food, we went with the following:
— Onion Strings
— ‘CLUCKER’ Chicken Sandwich
— Tuna Club
— Classic Burger
— For dessert, went with Homemade Classic Key Lime Pie
The onion strings were decent, The tuna club were made with fresh tuna, so nothing from the can… we did however find an ingredient that shouldn’t have been in there — someone’s hair.
The classic burger was okay… lacked flavor, but when you are hungry you eat w/​o thinking. Friend also enjoyed the clucker.
The Homemade Classic Key Lime Pie was very creamy… I would have thought that it would had more lime flavor, but it did not… but it was still good to finish the meal with this dessert. Not sure when I’ll be back in Key West, but if I stopped by again, looks like the Brussels sprout chips is the way to go.

I LOVED this place, and so did my entire group. We stopped on our way to KW. It sure didn’t disappoint! I had the tuna club and an espresso shake recommended by the waiter. Both items were awesome. My bf and cousin had the chicken club I think and enjoyed it, their fries were great too. And the scrub in their immaculate bathrooms is awesome! I’m so regretting not having purchased it! I would def stop by again when I make the drive to KW again. They also sell a lot of premium grocery store items, like craft beers and such which makes the stop even more worth it if you happen to need any goodies for the road

I am a bit in between of 4 – 5 stars and decided for 5 because they have body scrub in the bathroom so you can use it for your arms and hands
Food was really nice for a place close by the motorway. Very surprising was that they serve FRESH TUNA for the tuna club, if I knew that I would have totally gone for it… big WOW!

Food was fresh and service was friendly. We were staying at Hawks Cay when we found this place on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. I love that they put corn nuts in the ceviche! Ceviche was good, as was my burger. It’s a nice little place to just relax and have dinner after driving to or from Key West. I wish we could have had time to try their breakfast after seeing all the breakfast pictures on here but we will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Driving to or from Key West any time soon? If the answer is yes, then OUTPOST is a must stop! Conveniently located on Overseas Hwy this restaurant/​market is oh so good! The food is fantastic, the folks hard at work are super friendly and informative, even the owner came over to our table to make sure everything was nothing shy of perfect.
I was also amazed at the upkeep of this marketplace. Everything was clean and in order. The items on the shelves were near perfectly aligned and everything was in its place. The owner really runs a tight ship, it’s a great thing!
Check this place out! Your tastebuds won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful coffee. Amazing French toast and crab eggs Benedict! Oh man I think I could eat here everyday! Big ol’ lumps of crab meat on the Benedict!!! And the hollandaise is perfect:) the French toast had this yummy filling and was perfectly soft on the inside and crispy on the outside and covered in sweet berries:)
The waiter that served us was so cool and looked like a mix of Brad Pitt and Chris Hemsworth sooooo that’s a real big plus in my book ;) meow! ^+^

After landing in Ft Lauderdale, the wife and I hopped in a rental car and made our way down to KW. During the 4hr drive we were hungry and I had previously read about this place on Unilocal.
It’s a restaurant with a liquor store on the side of Rt 1. About and hour south of Miami. It’s no frills and has a limited menu.
It actually was good! You wouldn’t think with a roadside restaurant.
Had a beer and burger. Wife had a fish dish. Either we were both starving from our plane ride or it was quality. I will go with a combo of both.
A good stop on your way down to KW or the Key’s. Prices were good too. Service, meh. ENJOY!
