We use to go to this diner often but it now looks like it has been bought by a new owner. After not visiting it for a few years, we recently returned. Upon entering, there is a very strong smell of urine, an environment that certainly did not stimulate my appetite. I literally felt like i entered a nursing home. The environment was dirty and looked the same as a few years ago; no upgrade. The service was slow even though the diner was not busy at dinner time. Finally, I use to love the homemade chicken fingers with marinara sauce so I ordered them again. I was unpleasantly surprised to find they replaced these with Tyson chicken fingers… I could have gone home and made them! We were very disappointed that this diner has gone down hill so quickly.

Excellent classic NJ diner. Clean, good coffee, and a large menu. We live nearby and come in very often; it is nice to have an inexpensive but quality place nearby!

This diner gets 5 stars because it’s one of the best Diners in the area. Marlton Diner cannot even compare to the Golden Dawn.(I have not had a disappointing meal yet!) What I have had so far: Cheesecake(Yum!), Cheesesteak with the most tasty, crispy fries I have had in a long time. The bread/bun of the cheesesteak is baked perfectly and not too much bread. Toasted perfectly so I can enjoy the flavors of the sandwich. Breakfast — Eggs Benedict(Ask for corned beef hash to replace your Canadian bacon — yum!), French Toast Deluxe(Consistent excellent french toast) — the deluxe comes with a side of bacon, sausage links, and ham!(I usually ask for Taylor Ham/Pork Roll to substitute the reg. ham). Eggs are made well. The only thing was I was not overly impressed with the omelets — needed more extras mixed in but cooked perfectly. Coffee is always fresh and tastes very smooth. No burnt taste. Also the grilled sandwiches such as the Reuben, The Secretary, are great! I have not tried their Dinners but I shall report once I have tried a dinner meal. They take credit cards with no minimum requirement needed. Plenty of parking on either side of Diner. Right off 73⁄38 exchange — next to Lowes. There is a secret back entrance from 73 North — immediately after the exit for 38 East. You will miss it if you blink.

I have been on many diner hunts since I relocated to Jersey but I have passed up Golden Dawn due to its location. However an unexpected stay in a nearby hotel brought me in. I wish I had come by sooner. First off, this diner passed my strict smell test. If I smell that icky odor that some older diners have I turn tail and run. This place smelled like good food and clean carpets. The counter looked especially inviting. The seats at the counter are perfectly comfortable which is important to me because I have lumbar stenosis. I’m glad to say these seats gave me just the right support and they swing wide enough to get in and out of easily. Way to go on the accommodations. Now lets get to the service! Our waitress Kristi Loves her job here and she loves the food. She wasn’t shy on recommendations and she knew the menu well. She also shared how nice the family that owns the place is and how she has worked at many local diners and has found her home here at Golden Dawn. It’s so nice web a waitress enjoys her job. The workers in the back seem to like her friendly attitude as well, which is important if you want the cooks to care about your order. I ordered simple. A cup of snapper soup set the tone of the meal. It was lemony, perfectly spiced and had a velvety texture. The hot ham and cheese croissant really surprised me. It came served on a house baked croissant! My dining partner ordered the large Reuben and boy did it deliver. A nicely spiced corned beef was thin sliced and piled high. Kraut was crisp and the dressing was on the side. The fries were piping hot and crisp. Somebody back there in the kitchen cares. The baked good are out of this world and the seasonal pumpkin items rock. Get them before they are gone! I can’t say enough about this place. The owner is a super sweet lady who made sure everything was just right. They are open until 11 and 1 am on Friday and Saturday. This Cali girl gives it five Awesomes and a double Super Stoked! Had to edit because we decided to take a chance on the pumpkin cheesecake! Oh my word what a treat! It is so rich and delicious. Wow wow wow!

Yo, I loved this place. I used to go back in High School all the time on my way back from going out, but I recently went back for some good old fashioned NJ Diner Brunch. And man, this place did not fail me. Massive amounts of food, fast nice service, and quite tasty mind you. When I get an omelet anywhere else, this is the type I think about. But alas, the fancy schmancy places all screw it up. Sigh. I have a cheap mouth, I know, but I know what I like!

Don’t let the appearance on the outside fool you. Golden Dawn has amazing diner food, friendly staff, quick service and good prices. Definitely stop in!

Where’s the love, y’all? Golden Dawn has been one of my favorite diners since I was a little kid. We go way back. My Nana and Pop-Pop ordered dinner from there every single night. When I stayed over, my go-to was always the turkey dinner with mashed potatoes and string beans. The mashed potatoes were deliciously unique — I think they used sour cream in them. Now I dig the egg white omelets, which are enormous and come loaded and with a large side of perfectly crispy hashbrowns. I never once had to ask for a refill of coffee or water on my last visit. This is a Jersey diner at its finest.

I kind of like this place. No, it’s not the best diner I’ve been to but it’s ok. Service has always been pleasant and the food is ok. Good prices.

This is my favorite place to get breakfast! They have unbeatable breakfast specials all through out the week. The portions are more than enough, and the service is simply outstanding. Get the most bang for your buck, go to the Golden Dawn… Oh, & ask for Erica or Dawn, cause they are the BOMB!

Jersey diners talk a big game — South Jerz in particular. I was told by a few NJ residents that this was the place to be. I never thought so. A four dollar grilled cheese should have some charm, beside the oddly-colored cole slaw it stands by. Equally, I ordered a burger«medium» here, and ended up getting something with a red inside. Diners aren’t expected to make Baked Alaska, but they should know how to do a few common things right. I think this diner looks great on the outside, diner-speaking, but with their wishy-washy hours and several poorly presented meals, this is something I get chills just driving by. The diners of North Jersey get my respect, Maple Shade, NJ only gets my pity — including this diner.
