I was amazed they were open New Year’s Day and the owner was busting his booty working. It seemed like he knew almost every customer that walk in the door by name… That tells you he cares… If I lived here I would buy my stuff from him

Twas the week before Christmas, and my family and I were visiting Manzanita for the holiday weekend. Planning a Christmas meal and other meals at our rental home, we went to Manzanita Grocery & Deli. I’m not sure if they hate tourists, but every single visit to their store(4 total) was met with rude comments by their staff. At check out, an older lady with glasses was especially rude to me. She commented, «didn’t you learn anything yesterday?» when I brought my cart to the ‘wrong’ spot at the check out area during one visit. The right spot was not marked, but then again, neither was the wrong spot. She was dismissive throughout the check out process and made us feel completely unwelcome. Another encounter happened just today, after 2 separate visits to the bakery section of the store. The first time I went to the bakery, I asked if any pies were available, and was told that they weren’t ready yet and to come back. When I did return, the apple pies were all sold out. I was disappointed, but the ladies behind the counter took things a step further by wishing me a cheery«bah humbug» as I walked away. This comment and the ones that followed as I was still within earshot are completely uncalled for, especially during the holidays. Fortunately, this town offers choices and now I will shop at Manzanita Fresh Foods instead! Lots more choices and a huge fresh produce section and the lady at checkout was friendly and welcomed us to town. So, to the owners of Manzanita Grocery & Deli, I’ll ask you this: why ruin a great location with snarky comments to customers? Maybe your staff would do well to take a few customer service courses in the new year. P. S. Looks like Josh C also received rude comments and I totally get his Unilocal experience of this place!

Disgusting. I always see bugs in crevices. STAYAWAY from this place. The owners are also very rude.

As good as it gets. In this one horse town, there’s very few options. But, even if there was it would take a lot for me to go someplace else. The options are quite surprising. The seafood is fresh and most of it is local, as it should be. If they don’t have what you’re looking for, ask them. The guy behind the counter told me the local delivery schedule and what to expect during the week while I was there. Above and beyond helpful, he even told me local spots to hit up to buy fresh seafood, if I couldn’t wait. Who does that? Good people, that’s who. Need candles for a birthday cake, because you don’t have? They got’chu. Wine? They got. Full service deli? Fried Chicken? Ice? Butter by the stick? Cancer sticks? Bok Choy? Condoms? Kim Chi? Tupper ware? Look no further. It may look small, but good things come in small packages, like me. And, just like me, you’ll leave here satisfied. Best of all, the people are genuine and feel like a family. They care about you. If only this existed in NY, I would gladly give them my money, regardless of price, because you feel like you are supporting great people, while you are getting your goods. Trapped in time in an America that once existed, this is how it should be not like the generic, corporate stores that we blindly give our hard earned Benji’s to because it’s … right down the block. I strongly suggest you shop here and give it a chance.

We recently worked with Manzanita Little Apple Deli for catering trays for my father’s birthday party and were very pleasantly surprised at what a beautiful display the staff put together! We ordered a custom gourmet cheese platter, their beautiful fruit platter, an enormous antipasta platter and an assortment of salads and bruschetta toppings, It was a gorgeous display and delicious… received many compliments from the guests, Many thanks to the wonderful and flexible staff for working with us to come up with the perfect menu for our summer afternoon party. Highly recommended!

WONDERFUL little market with just about ANYTHING you could imagine, including a good selection of unique/gourmet items. The meat/butcher shop has grass-fed lamb as well as the usual suspects and the deli makes fantastic sandwiches and always has a great array of side dishes and hot foods available, as well. The folks at the counter are friendly, fun and helpful and a WEALTH of local information. Anything you want to know about Manzanita, those folks know it. This little store IS the heartbeat of Manzanita.

What a great little grocery store. Has everything you might need and healthy options like fresh salads, nice produce, kombucha, and even homemade Kimchee. Made to order deli sandwiches were a perfect lunch.

This place is a nice find in the area. Trust us, if you have to go grocery shopping in this area, come here. The people are very friendly(contrary to one of the reviews we read), the prices a little more affordable than other spots around Manzanita, and the selection is not unlike your local grocery store, just in smaller space. They have a full service deli and their fried chicken is super good. Plus there’s a video store next door if you want to relive your Blockbuster Video memories. That’s worth checking out alone. Therefore, yes.

We had been Unilocaling around to find a place for dinner in the area. Nothing really screamed«this is the place!» but we settled on some restaurant in Manzanita. I forget the name, but it’s irrelevant. We enjoyed the sunset, and parked near the restaurant. We noticed this little store here, and decided to stop in before dinner to pick up some beer and cider for our AirBnB later. We were blown away by the selection. Beautiful produce is the first thing to greet you. This shop puts an emphasis on organic, local, and has a shockingly large gluten free selection. We decided to scrap dinner at the restaurant, stock up on goodies here, and munch them in our off-grid rental cabin. The place we were staying at was heated by a wood stove, so of course we had to pick up s’mores ingredients. Gluten free graham crackers and marshmallows(conventional versions of these products can be found on other aisles,) organic milk chocolate. Boom. We also picked up some gf crackers, local raw cheese, and salami for dinner. Their beer/cider selection is awesome. Only the tastiest from far away, and lots of local brews. We stocked up, big time. Snacks ahoy. Is it more expensive than other shops like it? Sure. But you’re in Manzanita, and all of this stuff you’d normally find in your local co-op is right here on the coast. What a wonderful find. The staff were friendly, obviously enjoy working with each other, and their warmth made this shopping experience so much better.

A long time local small grocery with a great selection and reasonable prices for a small town. One of two traditional stores in town selling groceries.

We stopped to get some post beach grub and some camp fire supplies. The employees at the back food/deli counter were less than friendly. Other than that, The folks at the cash register were delightful. The store had a wide selection. It’s not your typical ma and pa beach mart.

Friendly folks. Great selection. Even gluten free & vegetarian options. We got sandwiches to go from the deli. Would be a great place to pick up picnic food or for staples for your beach stay. A+!

Just when you thought all hope was lost on the Coast to find a grocery store that served a variety of selection of food beyond cheap camp grub and frozen hotdogs, Manzanita Grocery & Deli comes to the rescue. A great deli, lots of natural food selections, a great produce aisle, tons of snacks beyond big box processed food brands, a super friendly staff, and everything else you will need to enjoy your stay at the coast. This place is Heaven Sent. Small towns across America take note.

Super impressed, small store, huge selection, they have everything you would want, even a nice looking deli with top end meats and cheeses. Good beer selection, full service store. Prices seemed reasonable to me considering the location. The produce selection seemed really good as well for a store like this. Plus they are open till 10PM. Really unheard of for a town like Manzanita to have a store like this. Never even made it to the bigger grocer up the street.

Love this place! It is a very small grocery store a stones throw from Manzanita Beach right in the heart on the town. For a super small store they have an amazing amount of items available. This is a family run grocery store that the owners work very hard at and treat their employees like gold. I don’t know about you but that needs to be supported in our day of corporations that want to rule the world with evil intentions. They have a great deli and offer lots of good home cooked items and their sandwiches are big and inexpensive. Go there, get some food and have a picnic at the beach. They also have a small but very thoughtful wine section. Their produce section is also very well thought out and cared for. Can’t go wrong with this little apple.(The nick name for the store in town.)

What a great local grocery. Close in-town location and super friendly local owners. Pre made soups are great for a quick snack and they pretty much have everything you need for a smaller local shop

Um, are you staying in Manzanita and need ANYTHING? Then this is your place. You would think a small town general store like this wouldn’t be well stocked with options, etc. but in this case you’d be wrong. This«little» place had everything. Lots of beverage and food options along with deli counter and other food options. I’m not sure why this surprised me after I realized this shop must be *the* grocery store for the town. The staff on our visit seemed cranky when we walked in, but that couldn’t have been further from the truth. They were friendly and helpful. Great place for getting things for your beach trip, stay-at-home dinner or missing items… don’t worry if you forgot anything… they likely have it.

This tiny place has everything you could want for a picnic or cookout at the beach or a snack for the boat. Fabulous cheeses, great beer and wine selection, healthy snacks and lots of homemade baked goods(try the banana bread, yum!). I can’t say that the prepared foods looked particularly appetizing, but it’s easy enough to build a healthy meal here. As an added bonus, the staff was quite friendly and helpful. Great suggestion from some friends who stay in Manzanita each summer…

This little store reminds me of the corner markets in San Francisco I used to shop at when I lived there. Standard grocery to high-end gourmet and health food selection. Organic milk, Bob’s Red Mill flours, great selection of local and imported wines, to name a few items, all at very reasonable prices. It’s very charming and the staff is super helpful. Shops like this make you want to move to the beach, just to have this be part of your daily routine.

I am very thankful for this place. Each coastal town has a little grocery store for your essentials. The ‘Little Apple’ grocer is definitely a step above a convenience store. The aisles are packed with items, including nicer brands like La Brea Bakery breads. So rather than just get by, you can vacation in style. It was great that they were open on Thanksgiving Day and due to a freezer failure they were giving away all of their ice cream for free. My boys are especially thankful for that.
