Their veal is fresh, however… It’s covered by a mushy flour based coating, oil saturated. Not fried hot enough Use Panko and peanut oil HIGHHEAT Pasta marinara was nasty covered in after– thought mozzarella Cannnolis were left out of the order They did make a special trip and they were good

I’ve tried to like this place but after my last visit I give up. Cons– — The annoying blinking glow of the open signs– I thought flashing signs were not allowed in Manteo. –for goodness sakes, get the piano tuned! –figure out the order to deliver things to the table, example, don’t drop off a plate of oil and then bring bread to go with it after the entrees have been delivered. –provide plates for two people who order one appetizer, if you can’t do this then don’t roll your eyes when you are asked for more napkins. –learn to refill guests drinks without touching the lip of the glass or having the straws in the glass touch your arm, and at the same time, learn that one of the main ingredients of iced tea is ice. Shouldn’t have to ask twice for ice. –Employees interactions with other employees and family members camped out in the restaurant… these phrases were heard during our dinner, «I have so many ones, I can make it rain at the strip club», «I don’t care what you think you about my restaurant, you don’t have to come back», «Will these people hurry up and leave» — Home of the greasiest cheese steak ever! We never don’t finish food or take or home, we made an exception in this case and left it there. Pros– –Enjoyed the fried ravioli –The pizza crust was well made –The exit door!

La dolce vita is a horrible dining establishment. Do not eat there. Went with a group of 20+ people. Awful experience for all involved. And we were the only customers. Food is mediocre and over-priced. Someone is deleting our groups’ reviews from Unilocal. If you are looking for a good«Italian» restaurant, go and buy yourself a lean cuisine. Better quality of food and a better dining experience. Trust me. Do not at La Dolce Vita. They found it more important to overcharge us than to be a returning customer.

Tucked underneath the Elizabethan Hotel, La Dolce Vita is a collection of dining spaces with a vaguely Italian theme. My house salad was crisp but minimalistic, two cherry tomatoes sliced in half and one olive. My pasta carbonara was the richest cream sauce I’ve ever had; rumored to have ricotta cheese in it. In any case it was good tasting and way filling. The Eggplant Parmesan was also nice. Nice break from local fried seafood.

Horrible experience. I came here tonight with large party of over 20 people. We were pretty much the only people in the restaurant and our meal took hours. The food was overpriced already, considering the quality. There was almost no bread, tiny pieces for all of us, and not enough for all of us. It was also tasteless. Those of us that had seafood were pretty pleased but most of the chicken and pasta dishes were greasy, lukewarm, and completely not of a good quality or amount for the prices on the menus presented to us. At the end of the meal we were presented with our checks, and discovered that we had all been charged at least a dollar more each for our meals. When we inquired, we were told that they«hadn’t had new menus printed» and the prices had been changed(although the time when the prices had been changed varied depending on who we spoke to). Our server(who was actually very nice), spoke to the manager, who refused to change our checks to the advertised prices. Then he came and talked to us himself, showed us some small print on the menus that said«prices were subject to change» and still refused. Then he insisted that he had seen one of us there earlier when one of our party made the reservation, and insisted that he had taken a menu, and that we should have been aware. He was incredibly rude and insulting. They also seemed annoyed at the fact that we needed separate checks, and it took a long time because we apparently«crashed their system», even though we asked before even ordering if separate checks was a possibility, and we were assured yes. The food is awful and not worth the money in the first place, but on top of that you will likely get upcharged, and then called a liar if you dispute it. I highly doubt that it was a mistake that we were given wrong menus. Horrible business practices for everyone involved. I have never had a worse experience at any restaurant, and obviously will never return. However, I would recommend that if for some reason you feel like disappointing Italian food, do yourself a favor, go to a grocery store and pick up a microwave meal. The quality and dining experience of that might actually be better.

It’s a horrible place. Over priced for the quality of food. Bread is gross. The food is greasy. Withheld information about the process of ordering and complained about making separate checks. Horrible service. Had an issue with the bill everything was up charged by 1 $ not a big deal but when a big group of 20+ people noticed this the manager decide not to fix it. They were extremely rude about the situation and hostile. Was part of s returning group and will never return. Horrible place. Will always avoid this place. Also note, we were the only customers in the restaurant. Arrived at 6 pm didn’t get out til 8:30 pm. Awful experience. The Alfredo sauce taste like a jar of Paula Dean Butter poured all over the noodles. Everything else tasted like a lean cuisine. Wouldn’t mind paying 10 $ for the food but 15 + wine cost for the food is a rip off. The owners are crooks! Never will eat here again.

The food came far from expectations; passable at best, and drastically overpriced. $ 17 for six soupy lobster ravioli? And another diner at a neighboring table ordered the same thing as was served FOUR ravioli. But far more disturbing was the abysmal customer service and business practice displayed by La Dolce Vita. As another reviewer has said, «they are crooks!» After our bills came, each higher than expected, the manager told us that the prices on the menu are subject to change. By his logic, he could list a plate of gnocchi for $ 14 and ultimately charge us $ 40, no questions asked. Take this from my review, please — do NOT patronize this place: not only because you may share my shockingly terrible dining experience, but also because any business this restaurant receives serves only to support this ethical disaster of an establishment.

Amazing pepperoni pizza and THEBEST buffalo wings I’ve ever had. Seriously. The wings were fries with the sauce on it so when I ate it there wasn’t much of a mess which is awesome! My husband is from NY and is very harsh on his pizza reviews and he thought his pepperoni pizza was excellent. The pizza sauce had some type of wine taste which for some reason made it more authentic. Definitely would eat here again and again TO-GOONLYTHOUGH… My husband did say when he walked in to grab our food no one greeted him or acknowledged he was even standing by the front door for 5 minutes. He worries the customer service of this place might hurt the amazing food they serve to their customers!

We decided to order in and watch the basketball game. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and an antipasti salad with a loaf of bread, since they didn’t have breadsticks. It arrived in a timely manner and still hot. The pizza was good, the only thing I would change is to add extra sauce, but that’s just our preference. It had a hand tossed crust and the 16 inch was large enough for a family of three or four. The salad was fine, but mostly romaine lettuce, a few slices of cheese and salami, a few olives, a few cherry tomatoes and sliced mushrooms. It would have been easy to add a few toppings to this bed of lettuce and it would have been a meal.

Little sass with a bit if Italian. Prepare yourselves, for the flavor will flow and so will a bit of manteo grit. Try the pizza, Stromboli, lasagna, caprese, anything… it’s all delicious. Hands down best bread I’ve had all day. It’s a hidden gem amongst the Elizabethan and they’re very happy to serve so long as you butter the compliments a bit to the wait staff. Be advised, you might feel like a deal is going down in the back, a meeting of sorts, a bit if negotiations… Italian style. It just has that feel… seriously.

Horrible food quality, crap service from our spaced out server, unreal how simple food can turn out this badly. It’s really just a glorified pizzeria trying to be an Italian restaurant with a piano player too. They should know it’s an epic fail, and that is in my opinion. Only good thing here was the pianist, she was great! Regretted the choice to try this place based on a few good reviews, though I have learned the hard way on Unilocal they can mean nothing! I knew it again once the moment we sat down, this may not turn out well. So, based on that, I order two most basic items to be «safe» and one came wrong, not as requested and did not even taste good. Also, I order these items as not to waste«good money» on another higher priced menu item that would have been just as bad, I now know this being my 3rd trip to OBX, it’s is pretty much the norm in OBX with dining out options around there just aren’t that good. Even worse was the other meal had at Fisherman’s Wharf in Wanchese, omg, so bad, so overpriced and so insulting… Here I did pizza to start and a Chicken Parm. sandwich. My friend had spaghetti and meatballs he said tasted bland and hard texture. Their sauce tastes like it had teaspoons of sugar in it, yuk! Like Prego in the jar type sauce taste. Total turnoff for me. The pizza was not good, a bar pie has tasted better than what they make! The chicken parm. sandwich, just not good, so simple an item, not made well, cutlet all misformed and bread so soggy and sauced up and yuk, think about this review as an «overall» when you decide to eat here! If what we ordered wasn’t at all good, I can imagine what the other fancier type dishes would be like. DONOTWASTETIMEMONEYHERE! Just don’t. Better off renting a house and cooking your own meals just as we did with 4 out of our 6 nights down there recently…

There’s only so much seafood a person can eat, so when you hit your limit Dolce Vita is the spot to come on Roanoke Island for a good pizza pie. We got the 4 cheese and added ‘shrooms and sausage; the crust was fairly thin yet crunchy, the sauce well-seasoned and the cheese plentiful. We left with 3 big pieces for b’fast. Pizza and wine both were quite reasonable. Can’t vouch for the pasta. I did ask if clams in linguine were fresh or frozen and was told they were frozen, and gnocchi weren’t homemade, but we appreciated our server’s honesty. A man’s got to know his limitations, and the same goes for restaurants. I’d go back for pizza anytime, though, and recommend the place for a perfect casual dinner after the long drive from the DMV.

When you walk in, the first thing that hits you is the dated and random décor. Then an unpleasant odor grabs your senses. How could the food possibly be good? Well, it was — very good. Good flavor and nice presentation. The food deserves 4.5 stars but the rest needs serious work. The service was fine and the prices very reasonable. I’ll come back but I wish they would redecorate.

Delicious! We ate here on our last night in Manteo. We were tired, and didn’t feel like going out. We figured we would give this place a shot. Growing up Italian, I am a bit hypercritical of Italian food, but this place was rather good. We ordered the margherita pizza which was good, and a sausage pasta with some kind of rose cream sauce, which was delicious as well. I wish there were places like this closer to where I live in Jacksonville, I’d eat there all the time. Very good food! Loved it!

Would give less of a rating if possible. Didn’t even stick around for the entrée after the caprese salad. Was served on a hot plate, tomatoes were too hard to cut, and tasted as bad as it looked. Fly was buzzing around and silverware rolled in a dirty napkin. Waitress was nice but after our complaint, the owner did not even bother to come and apologize. We explained this to her also. She said he was in the back cooking and he made it! If you don’t have fresh tomatoes, don’t serve it. Also his place has a serious identity issue. Is it a pizza joint with buffalo wings and cheese fries on the menu or a fine Italian bistro as they try to depict? Will never be going back and can’t wait to dispute this charge on my Amex card.

This place may not look like an obvious choice just by driving by, but I have to say it is a great place. We were looking for something late and thought we would get pizza. We were very surprised at the full menu availability after 10:00 pm. Everything was delicious and I highly recommend it.

Well, all I can say is that they were recommended and now I am sorry that I was only visiting the area. The best Italian that I believe I have ever had. Great service and the cook even came out to see how everything was. Cant wait to go back!
