Subway

All the subways in Manteca are so clean and the employees are very friendly. My sandwich is always delicious and the vegetables are fresh! I always end up leaving satisfied. One of the best subways I have ever been to.

Sometimes I like to grab a bite to eat at Subway early in the morning. I arrived early so I waited until opening time at 7 o’ clock – (had my cell with me so I know it was 7 o’ clock). I walked into the restaurant where I found a woman carrying food bins to the prep station. Well, let me tell you she was not happy to see me there. She looked like she wanted to bludgeon me with one of her day-​old foot-​long hoagies. Seriously, the look on her face was really disturbing, so much that I couldn’t help but wonder if I’d done anything offensive. Did I clarify that my presence had nothing do to with breaking and entering?
I greeted her politely, and she replied sourly that the restaurant was not open – despite the fact that the fluorescent sign on the glass wall read «open» and that the business hours sign posted on the door also stated they opened at 7:00 A.M. Fine, I wasn’t bothered by the fact that she wasn’t ready to serve customers so early in the morning, so, as to know for future reference, I asked her what time they opened, and again, using the same tone, she only repeated that they were not yet open.
Then realizing perhaps that her behavior was unwarranted, the woman softened her tone and told me that she could help me if I was willing to wait a few minutes. Well, if I hadn’t been treated so poorly, I would have. I wasn’t bothered by the fact that she wasn’t ready to help me as soon as I walked in. She could have greeted me politely, told me she wasn’t ready to serve customers and added that if I would be willing to wait for a moment she would be with me as soon as she could. Instead, she greeted me with a look that even Fred Kreuger would envy and was completely rude to me.
Despite this unpleasant experience, I gave the restaurant two stars because the young people who are employed here have always been courteous.
Instead of giving the Stink-​eye woman my business, I went to the Subway in the Food 4 Less shopping center; the young woman who works there has always been courteous to me when I stop by at 7:00 A.M.
