Mansfield Variety & Deli

Ever since I can remember, I’d walk to deli after school and get a bumble bee with mac salad. It is the most yummy sandwich on the planet. They don’t skimp on the meat so for someone like me, I eat half for lunch and half for dinner. The staff is super accommodating both in-​store and for catering. Deli along with an ice cream from Flint Farm makes for a hallmark Mansfield experience.

This place is THE BEST!!! Great food, great people own/​work there. Its a hidden jewel !!!

Love this place. I usually go here a few times a week for their breakfast sandwiches. I would highly recommend the sausage, egg, and cheese, on a croissant. They use boars head meats in their sandwiches and I have yet to find one that I do not like. They also have a decent selection of other deli style salads and such that you can purchase to go with you meal. If you looking for a good local place to get awesome deli food… Here it is.

So sad they fell off… used to be huge overstuffed sandwiches but got an Italian today and it had a single slice of each meat… terrible

This place is legit. I got the «rachael». Pastrami, swiss, thousand island, and coleslaw on grilled dark rye. Delicious!!! Side of potato salad was good as well. Will def be back to this place.
There is a counter with 8 – 9 stools so you can eat in or get it to go.

this is one of the best delis in the area by far. a very small place that you could drive by and not look twice, but at lunch time the place is packed with people. they offer very good breakfast sandwiches and great deli sandwiches that come with a small side and a pickle for lunch. the only small down fall is if you are a new comer ordering can be a little confusing. a small sign that says order here would help the first time customers. I will certainly be back when in the area

This is the easiest review I have ever had to write. I ordered the roast beef, swiss cheese, and horseradish sandwich. That came with potato salad as a side and I got a small cup of the homemade turkey soup.
I have no idea how I can add to the previous reviews of this place. Everything was completely perfect. I have never had a easier decision about a five star review in my life.
The soup tasted like my grandmother made it. The turkey was clearly freshly roasted. The vegetables were fresh and not overcooked. The broth was exactly as you would hope it would be, flavorful and not oversalted.
The potato salad was just as good. They didn’t give me too much so I would have filled up on it so it was a great complement to my meal.
The roast beef sandwich was clearly the star. The roll was crispy and extremely flavorful and the roast beef was roasted in house and cooked to perfection. It came with red onions and a fantastic horseradish sauce with Boars Head swiss cheese. Seriously, I don’t think I could’ve had a better lunch. I would highly recommend this place.
The sandwich was reasonable at just a little over seven dollars and the soup was also reasonable for the quality at just a bit over four dollars. The potato salad was included with my order. As I stated before I have never had an easier review to write. Five stars without a doubt.

This place… wow. The sandwiches and service are top notch. I have yet to have something I didn’t enjoy. The roast beef is delicious. The only side I have tried is the macaroni salad because it is so good that I can’t imagine not ordering it but I’m the sure the other sides are just as delicious. This place is what dreams are made of.

Don’t let the front of the business keep you from stopping — I always thought it was just a convenience and liquor store (didn’t see the deli sign — look up) — well how wrong could I be. My daughter told me about the the deli and said it was a favorite of most of her teachers at the Mansfield School system.
From the moment I walked in — I was in love. It reminded me of my days when I lived in New York City and the authentic deli sandwiches and classic Italian food (Lasagna, pasta, pizza slices, etc.) — but don’t let the «Italian» fool you — this place is like home. The owners and staff are friendly, the menu selections selective and focused and the sandwiches are fun and clever. This place brings big deli flavors and selection to a small hometown in Mansfield, MA. The business is locally owned and run by a great family.
OK — the food. My favorite sandwich «Trump Tower» — a combination of Pastrami and Corned Beef — cooked on the grill — which adds crisp edges and flavor; then this is added on a role with cheese, cole slaw and thousand island dressing. Did I say portions — loaded with meat that is not lost in the bun. Love it — and the pickle spear AWESOME!
I have had many sandwiches there and have returned many times — never had a bad sandwich. They pay attention to detail, give generous portions and have an amazing variety of specialty sandwiches — in addition to the classics. If you want a vegetarian version — the vegetable wrap and Caprese on Italian role is A+. They can also build you what ever you want!
I also fell in love with this place — when Boars Head deli meat is the star! Then side salads (macaroni, cole slaw and potato salad) — all made on site and not over done with condiments — add to the experience. Oh Yes — while you are there grab a bag of chips, take home a pound of Boars Head deli meat, a drink — and when you are at the register; spin around and see the selection of authentic European chocolates that will just be the icing on the cake!
Oh and did I mention breakfast. All I can say is get up early — drive there — and grab something to go and enjoy and be fulfilled — all for a reasonable price. Bagels, egg sandwiches, grill top potatoes, are served generously and full of flavor.
This place is the best in town and a local gem — I mean it! I only wish I had discovered it sooner! I am working my way through the sandwich menu (a bucket list item for me) — I’ll let you know when I have tried them all!

My daughter and I went here today based on the positive reviews we read about this place … OMG… I got the «here’s the beef»…it was excellent! I especially loved the horseradish mayo! My daughter just got plain ham and cheese sub… it was so packed with ham! Well worth it… will be going back again and again!

This place is soooooo good! We stopped here before the Mumford show because of the great Unilocal reviews! It did not disappoint!!! The sandwiches were amazing, the staff was great, and the complimentary potato salad was the best! Can I have the recipe!!! Must go before every show from this day forward!

This was the best pastrami sandwich I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend, staff was patient while I figured out what I wanted, and the price was good.

Friendly, helpful staff and DELICIOUS food. I stopped by Mansfield Variety & Deli based off local reviews. The staff was helpful in finding me some spicy sandwich options; they have tons of combinations. I ended up creating my own sandwich: spicy turkey, salami, colby pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and chipotle mayo on a braided roll. Hearty, tasty sandwich which also came with a side of potato salad (you can also choose mac salad or coleslaw). The people and environment inside the deli made me feel right at home. A local gem, I’d say.

I haven’t been here for quite some time. I would say a good few months? The place looks like it’s been freshened up a bit. The owner greeted me by name which always feels quite nice. I wanted to make conversation but my two year old was tearing up the place a bit so I had to keep a watchful eye on him.
Ok so down to business… the food. The sandwiches are always wonderful and freshly made. I never worry about a soggy bun (well on my sandwiches anyways). The to go food I purchased were the Ziti with meatballs and chicken broccoli ziti. They always taste home made and at about 7 bucks it’s a much better alternative than any fast food (actually much faster) and cheaper. I got my son, the fussy and picky 2 year old, a turkey melt. He absolutely loved it. They never skimp on the meat and never make you feel like you over paid.
Between the food and amazing service I would say this is the place to beat. Whites bakery has nothing on this place… well unless you want to throw your money at an overpriced chain then go there. But if you’re like me and appreciate the hard working guy next door who puts lots of love into his relationship with his customers and food then go here. You won’t regret it.

Yummy! Got take out at this hole in the wall for Mothers Day :) first time! Impressed! Got the crispy eggplant sandwich. Wowza! I can’t wait to order from here again when I’m in the area :) Quality top notch!

Wow. The «Here’s the Beef» sandwich is by far the best roast beef sandwich I have ever had. They roast their own beef for this sandwich… and it is so tender, practically melts in your mouth! The bread is amazing too and is perfectly toasted. Service was excellent, sandwich was ready in less than 5 mins.
I also ordered a container of the pasta with chicken and broccoli to go, and it was another fantastic find.
Definitely recommend this place if you’re in a 10 – 15 mile radius… Worth the hike and lives up to its hype!

Pretty good deli. I ordered the corned beef and pastrami with coleslaw, macaroni salad, and potato salad. The only thing I did not like was the macaroni salad, immediately odd sweet taste. The prices are reasonable. The store offers many other products also. I would give it another try.

This is my FAVORITE place to order from in Mansfield! They might have the best sandwiches I have ever had in my entire life! I have never had a bad meal here– the lunch meat is fresh, bread/​rolls are so good and I can’t say enough about how good the pickles are!
Mansfield Deli has the best sandwiches, are budget friendly and super fast! I love their pickles so much too– I always have to resist asking for more on the side! My favorite sandwich is the ‘Cortini’, but so many of them are good! What a gem of a restaurant!

Seriously, if that wasn’t the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten in my life, then I must have eaten a really amazing sandwich once and then forgotten all about it the minute I bit into that Here’s the Beef.
Everything about Mansfield Variety & Deli is wonderful. The people who work there clearly care about the place, the food is GREAT, like five stars on 34 reviews great, and they sell beer & cider. Their sides aren’t just the normal, boring deli stuff either! I can’t say enough good things, honestly, and I can’t wait to get back there and try some more sandwiches!

This is the most amazing deli you can ever dream of walking into! The sammies are scrumptious! I got the roast beef and let me tell ya! My mouth is in love! Roll was crunchy on the outside yet soft on the inside. It was piled high with roast beef, cheese and onions! Also, yes there’s more, they give you a pickle and a side of cole slaw, potato salad or macaroni salad! It’s small but the sammies are so big you wouldn’t need any more! If you haven’t had lunch from here i feel sorry for you! Your missing out!
Had to update this review because i forgot to mention how wicked friendly everyone who works there is! Service was fast and i can’t wait for my next sandwich.
