This place is the finest deli I’ve ever been to. The Romanian pastrami is to die for. The meat knishes are excellent and the food at Charlie’s is like nothing I can get in Seattle. I will drive hours out of my way to have lunch there. Whenever I visit the Boston area, Charlie’s is on the top of my list of things to do.

My friend and I went for a 16.32-mile, 5hr 17min walk today around Sharon and Foxboro before«landing» at Charlie’s. We hike every weekend during the Winter and eat afterwards. This restaurant experience was at or very near the top. The native Rhode Island waitress was superb, as was the food. We especially liked the Roumanian pastrami, the bulkie rolls and the shrimp and sausage gumbo. We’re very much looking forward to a return visit.

Haven’t been in years, but I ordered the same as usual. Corned beef was tasty but drier than I’d remembered. Potato salad is from Potato Salad Heaven. Sandwich counter help was fast and friendly. Price has gone up $ 2 in the last seven years to $ 8.95 for a full. This surprised me a bit because once all is said and done, this isn’t really very much food. Nonetheless, it was still a very satisfying lunch. Charlie’s got a right to make a living, I guess.

We stumbled in here after Maxie’s up the road was painfully rude to us since we came in 15 minutes before closing. It’s simple, cash only. Love that my half corned beef sandwich was just a full sized sandwich just with a reduced amount of meat. Perfect size for me. The meat knish had a really tasty dough and filling seemed very fresh. My mother had the tongue sandwich and was very pleased. Nice half sour picked and dilly potato salad. To go I took some onion rolls, roumanian pastrami and lox spread. I just ate the pastrami heated up on the onion roll with some melted cheese and mustard. The meat was amazing!!! They were very friendly and my mother and I will never return to Maxie’s after discovering Charlie’s!

What nice people who own this place and who work here. The food is good too, especially the homemade Corned beef hash

It’s the neighborhood place to be for breakfast or dinner. Charlie himself is a droll guy, which works just fine for the regulars. Get here in time for the breakfast special; that makes the prices worthwhile.

walked in one day looking for food; didn’t expect to have a deli/diner right in this strip! hub is GF but not severely allergic, so figured the least we can do is to get something w/o toast. turned out, one of the staff is also GF, and miraculously(maybe largely due to her), they do serve GF toast! grilled(w/lotsa butter, that is), as she recommended, and it’s damn good. there’s a 75c-$ 1(forgot) up-charge for the GF toast, but that’s just standard procedure. went back a few times by now, coz it’s closeby, food is decent, and staff is generally nice. breakfast is sizable, omlette is on point, sandwiches are ok(my marble rye was a bit dry & hard as rye bread is; i’ll just stick w/wheat next time). roumanian pastrami and corned beef hash remain my favorites. love that they have«weird» stuff for the culinary adventurists: beef tongue, liver, hmm what else. their deli menu looks sizable, but i mean, there are quite a few visibly store-bought stuff, ex. smoked salmon, bagels in bags. and LOTS of salt & pepper grinders for sale, for some strange reason — some of them in shape of bunnies though, i’m tempted! cost-wise, a breakfast or sandwich plus a drink might push you close to if not over $ 10; w/tax and tips, $ 15 give and take. but they put a lot of stuff on your plate: breakfast/omlette comes with home fries AND toast or bagel; sandwiches come with chips and cole slaw(or another choice, ex. mashed potato?). i didn’t notice this till just the last visit: you can get a half portion of omelette too, just like you can do half order for sandwiches. that way, you can pretty much get yourself out of the door under $ 10, and not have to pack some home. i am always so stuffed eating the full portion — have to start bringing my own take-home container in the future!

The corned beef rachel here is good. I love the coleslaw, something I am very picky about. Didn’t like the meat knish, was dry and kinda hard. Potato knish was a little better and bigger than expected. Pasta salad was good. I’m not big on potato salad so it takes something special for me to love it. It was just ok for me. good pickles. They don’t have dessert here, just candy bars, and they are cash only. They only have table service on certain days Compared to the nearby Maxies, both have good sandwiches. Maxies has dessert, better knishes, and they take credit cards but Charlies has better coleslaw and some good menu items like the rachel and gobbler sandwiches

The corned beef reuben and the anchor(Romanian pastrami) are outstanding. We go a few times a month for those sandwiches. Unfortunately(or perhaps fortunately, for my coronary artery’s sake) they are not open for dinner.

The reason to come here is their hot corned beef, which is really tasty,(don’t get the lean corned beef, I mean really?) and their awesome pastrami sandwich. All their sandwiches come with tasty pickles and homemade potato salad or cole slaw, both good. They steam their pastrami Jewish style, rather than fry it like most sub shops, and it is soooo goood. Not low cal, and lots of salt, but who eats one every day? It’s a real treat. Good bagels, from Zeppy’s I think, good cream cheeses and lox. For those of you that grew up going to jewish delis, this place will be familiar — you can’t say much for the décor, although I do like the old deli menus on the walls. Worth a stop for lunch if you are in the area, or get the great lox plate for breakfast.

Stephen’s deli(the predecessor to Charlie’s Deli) deserves a 5 start rating but sadly everything has changed in the past 5+ years since the switch happened. I’m not sure if it has to do with the clientele at the Deli dying out or just getting older but the place just seems more depressing. The food is still incredible but the skyrocketing prices don’t make me want to rush back every time I am home visiting the family. If you are looking for a quaint Jewish deli that looks like it hasn’t changed in 30 years Charlie’s is the place for you. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

We stopped in to grab some bagels. Place was pretty grindy. They display the bagels like they’re freshly baked a la Panera Bread style, only they’re pouring them in those bins from bags which clearly indicate they were bought at the supermarket. Also they had pounds and pounds of potatoes sitting on the grille like it looked it’s been sitting there for hours. Bagels were so so and they smothered them with cream cheese and butter(over the top).

Without question one of the last true«deli’s» in the state, things cooked from scratch, secret recipes, possible the best corned beef in the state! You can get all the true deli specials like chicken soup(no, traditional jewish chicken soup doesn’t have noodles!), good pickles, half sour tomatoes, halavah, they even serve tongue!!! you really can’t go wrong at this place.

This is a nice little breakfast and lunch place located in a strip mall on the south side of town. We come here some weekends for a nice breakfast. It’s pretty hard to screw up breakfast. I usually get an omelette of some sort which comes with home fries and a choice of toast or bagel. I always ask for a raisin bagel on the griddle. I’ve also been here a few times for lunch and all the deli items are pretty good. They carry the Boars Head brand of deli meats so at least you know it’s consistent. They do have a few items that are homemade, like their matzo ball soup. I think the chopped liver is also homemade because it’s extra oniony sometimes. Prices are reasonable, the portions are pretty good and the service is always prompt and friendly.

During my first weekend in Sharon I decided to go to Charlie’s for breakfast since it is fairly close to my home. I opted for the corned beef with the three eggs scrambled and some homefries. I also ordered an orange juice. I knew something had gone awry when the oj was delivered in a Tropicana bottle. Umm thanks. maybe pour into a class to at least deceive me. My meal when delivered was as ordered, but left much to be desired. My toast wasnt really toasted. Rather it was flimsy and lifeless. My «homefries» consisted of uncooked red potatoes with a thin glaze of oil. The eggs and corned beef were cooked to perfection. The check took so long that I was able to leave my breakfast companion there and go shopping and to Starbucks and still beat her home. Not bad, but I don’t think I’d go back again for breakfast. I am concerned that Sharon isn’t going to the gastronomical hotbed I had hoped it was.

Prepare to speak up. It’s not that the place is crowded(seldom is) or noisy(again, seldom is) but that the guys working behind the counter and prepping the food are a bit, well maybe the hearing aid needs a new battery, or maybe they forgot it at home-anyway, they’re nice and the food is good, so: This is a small neighborhood deli-prices are about average and the food quality varies from average to good. They have breakfast specials during the week that are very reasonable. The corned beef is pretty good-so between that and the breakfast specials and it’s not far from my office I’ll be back. Convenient to Rt.1&95.
