This was our second time to visit Love Bugs Bakery. The first time was underwhelming, but we thought we’d try again. Our dad is in the hospital across the street and we thought some treats would cheer everyone up. Our error. The cupcakes are fine… But the sugar cookies were literally crumbling in our hands(my daughter lost hers all over the floor — that’s how crumbly they are at room temp.) even worse– the icing tasted like lard. Such a shame. I will stick to our bakery in Midlothian(Creations Baking Company). The cupcakes are gorgeous– extravagant– creative– cheaper… And taste amazing compared to this place.

My husband brought home a lemon cupcake and some cakeballs. Lemon cupcakes are my favorite but this was awful. Icing was grainy and all I could taste was the excessive use of almond extract. Not sure why that ingredient was used in a lemon cupcake, but needless to say; I wont be trying the cake balls!

I ordered a Minecraft-themed chocolate cake for my kiddo’s 8th birthday. The cake was delicious, moist, tasty, and the design looked awesome. I am an amateur cake-baker/designer, so normally I make birthday cakes for friends/family, but due to lack of time, it just was not going to happen this year. In the past, I had lukewarm experiences with other bakeries: I paid a lot for design, but the taste was always meh. Love Bugs brought both design and taste. I was very pleased with the service as well.

Since we are moving to the area, my wife and I wanted to try this place. The cupcakes are slightly cheaper than other bakeries($ 2.75 compared to $ 3.00). I do feel they were smaller or at Least not consistent in size. I’m also not a fan of the whip cream icing used on the standard white cupcake. In the end, we weren’t dissatisfied, but we’re not excited to go back for more.

Won’t be patronizing this bakery anymore. Made another visit to Love Bugs today and it just didn’t give me that same sense of euphoria when eating their cupcakes. I ordered my usual strawberry cream cheese cupcakes and it was, dare I say it, not fresh. Normally, when I visit a bakery I am expecting freshly baked cupcakes that taste like an indescribable goodness that you just cannot duplicate by baking your own cupcakes at home which is why you end up going to a bakery. Unfortunately, this bakery serves small, overpriced cupcakes(at $ 2.75 a pop) that seem to lack in freshness. $ 2.75ish is the norm for cupcakes but it should TASTE great and the size should be larger than a homemade cupcake. I paid $ 9.75 for three cupcakes and one sugar cookie. Cookies are $ 2.00 each. Recently, I have been patronizing Flour Shop Bakery(in Flower Mound) and they will give a 25% off discount on their cupcakes/baked goods that were from the previous day. Other than that, they bake throughout the day which is obvious when you bite into their soft, moist cupcakes. Looks like I will be making a drive out to either Flower Mound(Flour Shop Bakery) or Dallas(Society Bakery) whenever my sweet tooth hits.

My cupcake was frozen. :-(Cupcakes are $ 2.75 and are pretty small. Cookies are $.75 and very small. Not a great value and certainly not baked fresh daily.
