River Hills Hotel

The front desk lady «Amanda» was so wonderful!
I had been busting my butt all day packing my house up and was an emotional/​physical wreck. To see her warm smile was a relief for sore eyes.
The room was impeccable, well kept and very spacious. There was a separate kitchenette well stocked, a place to watch TV and relax. The complimentary breakfast was stocked with pastries and other assorted goodies.

This hotel was WONDERFUL. Very convenient to the highway, and easy to find. Check-​in was fast and efficient, and the room was much, much better than I expected for the price.
The suite was big and spacious, with a good lay-​out. Lots of little extras that are nice to have (dishwasher, laundry basket, lotion, etc.) but are not always offered. The bed was very comfortable, and there were lots of pillows (with more in the wardrobe!).
Breakfast was sufficient (I had to take it with me) even toward the end of the serving time. No problems at all with the internet, which was fast and easy to connect. I’d almost look for a reason to return to Mankato just to stay at this hotel!

We stayed at the Grandstay for about a week around Christmas last year. It was kind of nice to find a place that had separate bedrooms and a kitchenette. The food here for breakfast was so-​so. We had quite a fiasco with our cleaning and towel situation. Apparently, if you stay there for a certain number of days they only come once a week, but if you stay for less than a week they are supposed to come by and clean at least once during your stay.
I think our stay was just short of a week, and so we had expected to see a cleaning person at least once the entire time we were there. That didn’t happen however. After day three of our stay, we attempted to contact the desk because we had put a sign out requesting our room be cleaned at it was ignored. We were told that they would come by the next day, and so again the fourth day of our stay we put out the sign requesting a cleaning. Again, we didn’t get one. So on the fifth day of our stay, (the night before we were supposed to leave) we just gave up.
We took our complaint up with the front desk when we left, and they gave us a small discount on our stay for our trouble. Honestly, the room was a good price. The TVs were old, and everything was very basic when it came to décor and amenities. The beds were pretty cheap. Even still, if it means getting a cleaning at least once when I’m staying some place for nearly a week, I’d be inclined to pay a little more.
