This is not a fancy place but it’s clean and comfortable. It’s close to everything and pet friendly! The front desk is friendly and accommodating.

A pretty basic hotel. I don’t smoke or travel with a pet. Both are options here. I would tend to avoid either room type when possible but the smoking room I stayed in was not overly smoky. The room seemed clean, but was in need of carpet based on small stains and apparent wear. Just a small annoyance that the clocks had not been changed after the daylight savings time adjustment that occurred a few days earlier. Breakfast was adequate, but the area was small and felt crowded.

It’s cheap and clean, and they allow furry friends. I was unaware though, I reserved online and was unable to cancel or change my reservation even though it was a month away! So be careful… :) I’m more inclined now to stay at the Riverfront Inn if we are spending the night in Mankato.

It’s a hotel. Standard continental breakfast, decent rooms that were clean and relatively modern. Unfortunately the walls are paper thin and the room next door thought Ace Ventura had to be played at midnight at full volume.

I’ve been here twice now, both times with a group of people and their dogs. The hotel itself is clean and in a convenient location to restaurants and shopping. They often have great rates on their website, too. The bad: The room I got this last time was on the 3rd floor and probably the smallest hotel room I’d ever had. Think cruise ship small. I can’t imagine having two people in that tiny closet. The first time I visited, I was on the first floor and the room was much larger. Small rooms I can live with, but the NOISE! The walls are so paper thin that you can hear low level conversations in the next room. But I was lucky enough to be there on a Friday night along with a big group of college kids that were partying all night in the halls and slamming doors. I brought ear plugs, but it was still ridiculous. Plus, my miniaturized room was directly across from the ice machine. I should have slept by the train tracks, it would have been quieter. I didn’t get more than a few minutes of sleep off and on that first night. Thankfully they checked out the next morning and my 2nd night was quieter. The good: Our group comes with a lot of dogs and this hotel is super dog friendly! The grounds are perfect for dog potty visits and walking. And for the most part it looked like everyone picked up their dog messes pretty well. The staff is absolutely wonderful. They always go out of their way to make sure we have a great visit and to accommodate all of us and our dogs, which isn’t an easy task especially if you get a complainer. It’s hard to come by businesses that are pet friendly and this Microtel really goes above and beyond to reinforce that policy. We’ll definitely be back next year. I’ll be opting for a 1st floor room, on the end. And I won’t forget the earplugs!
