Overpriced for okay food. The menu looks like a foodie’s dream – the food is not. Service was okay. I had the goat cheese sandwich which was okay – not memorable or really tasty. It was nice that the goat cheese was warm. Soups were better – mushroom and chicken. They were better. I was not impressed and would not come back.

Beware! This business is apparently run by a new management, no longer at the phone number listed on Unilocal.Their service is terrible. Food overpriced. They will try to charge you twice if you use a credit card. They did that to me this week. Charged my AMEX twice for the same transaction. Called to ask them to look into it, but haven’t heard back from them. So if you still find yourself there, pay CASH. But you’d be better off going somewhere else. The ladies at the cashier are rude and pretend they don’t understand what you’re trying to order.

Updated review: still bad. Got an $ 8 egg sandwich. The egg was like a fast food egg. For $ 8??? And the entire sandwich was so greasy. I asked for avocado instead of ham. I got avocado AND ham.

Agreed with the previous review from Ash about the rude woman at the register. If went there today for breakfast ND the coffee was would and the 8 dollar breakfast sandwich was so greasy that is couldn’t finish it. Won’t be coming back and will not recommend to anyone.

The girl that takes the orders(she doesn’t wear an apron she’s the one that wears regular clothes) is quite rude. You would think for a place who charges $ 6 for a «sandwich»(that would be ONE slice of bread cut in half with cheese and jelly) they would be a little nicer to their customers but instead they act as if they are doing you a favor by serving you. I waited 10 minutes for toast because she was so concerned with getting her friends that work next door iced coffee that she forgot about my order(a paying customer). She should really keep that information to herself as she was talking freely with her co worker about what she was doing. I’m highly disappointed as they are affiliated with the Riverpark restaurant and was hoping for a great experience as that’s what they advertise. I wouldn’t go in there for a free meal after the disgusting service I got. I called to speak to a manger who I was told is at the Riverpark and spoke with the hostess who guaranteed me a phone call within a few hours. It’s now three days later and no phone call. Bottom line: terrible service, overpriced.

My friends were getting married a few weeks ago and so they called me out to NYC to join them in the festivities. To be honest, I didn’t really expect to be invited, so all of my flight and hotel plans were extremely rushed. This unfortunately had me flying coach(upgrade didn’t clear) on the 5 hour flight on my Thursday redeye. As I was stuffed in the awkward bulkhead seat next to a 280 lb. woman of questionable ethnic origin(what is she, black, middle eastern, what?) without any recline and all kinds of sharp, jagged edges poking me, I sincerely thought to myself, «This is what being homeless must kind of feel like»… Yes, this is what the man flying on a transcontinental flight solely to attend a chichi wedding thought to himself. Needless to say, the beginning of my trip was punctuated by some patently uncharitable feelings. But as I walked up to the door of The Cube for the rehearsal dinner, I thought to myself, «Damn, this is one clazzy place.» Food was served buffet style, but was well thought out and very tasty. Had some sliced beefsteak, Israeli couscous, a delicious pear and endive salad as well as other accoutrements. The wine was also free-flowing and despite the extremely cloying Moscato, the rest of the wines were really, really good for a quasi full bar. Props must be given to the bride and groom for allowing the option. The location is very ritzy being right next to the water, and the high windows, modern setting and breezy atmosphere make it a perfect venue for a large birthday party, rehearsal dinner or other similar events. Three thumbs up from your humble author. *two thumbs up next to my crotch*

Ugh, what can I really write about this place? I ordered the pole-caught tuna sandwich. My mistake, and I should have asked, was thinking that maybe this meant a few slices of tuna grilled – perhaps not likely for $ 9, but do-able. I figured that they called the chicken salad sandwich chicken SALAD, so it this was tuna salad, they’d do the same. To my disappointment, it turned out to merely be tuna salad. OK, fine – not a big fan of tuna salad, but I could live with that. What I couldn’t deal with was that the tuna was it was horrible: tasted like old fish. After one bite I dumped the sandwich into the nearest trash can(unfortunately, I was blocks away from ‘wichcraft by then). This wasn’t merely a mediocre sandwich: I bought a bottle of water and literally rinsed and spit with it. AND I COULDSTILLTASTE it. I bought a pack of breath mints to deal.

I have been going to the ‘Wichcraft Cube for over a year now, and can’t believe I haven’t reviewed it before. I am on a first name basis with most of the staff, and patronize them frequently. I work in the building adjacent to it, the same building where RiverPark is housed. The only remotely inconvenient thing about this location is that I have to take the elevator downstairs and walk about 15 or 20 paces to get inside. Woe is me! The other review summed it up pretty well. It’s a beautiful spot with a very funky, avant-garde style. The staff are generally very friendly and attentive, and make a point of recognizing regulars. I often stop in for coffee or a bite in the morning, as well as grab lunch in the afternoons. They offer fruit, oatmeal, AMAZING granola, bagels, pastries and breakfast sandwiches in the morning, along with very good coffee. For lunch, they offer a core list of sandwich staples, plus an intermittent list of more unusual or seasonal ones. They are all delicious, imo. They have turkey, roast chicken, pork, meatloaf, tuna, shrimp salad, chopped chickpea, goat cheese & veggies, grilled cheese, etc. Usually a little something for everyone, and of course the ingredients are always creative and fresh. They also offer a bunch of different salads, soups and sides. The prices are a little steep, but if you are used to this area or midtown in general, you probably won’t get major sticker shock. If the place wasn’t literally outside my building, I don’t know that I’d frequent it as much as I do, but they do have repeat customer programs for coffee and sandwiches, so when you have purchased 10 coffees or 12 sandwiches, you get a free one, respectively. Not bad. If you’re in the area, it’s a nice change of pace and their stuff really is delicious. Check it out… it’s about as close as you can get to eating lunch in the East River without having to swim(Water Club, notwithstanding)! **Insider Tip: If you are close by, you can order online for delivery or pickup, which can save a ton of time during the lunch rush.

i used to walk by other wichcraft kiosks and write them off. another sandwich/soup/salad place? puhlease, doesn’t new york have enough of those? but given the opportunity to order a more expensive lunch on a pharmacy rep’s dime, my coworker and i decided that going with wichcraft was the way to go. and i’m so glad we did, because this here is not just any old sandwich shop. this here is special-occasion, i-had-a-really-bad-day-and-need-a-pick-me-up-that-can’t-be-alcohol-for-legal-reasons sandwich shop. first off, the location is beautiful. yes, it’s sort of a pain in the ass to get to, but the walk there, if the weather is beautiful, is gorgeous, plus you get to walk past tom colicchio’s peeping tom garden that supplies all of river park’s veggies. it’s quiet, it’s tree-lined, it’s good for your soul. you get to the cube and there stands before you a towering glass – you got it – cube-like structure that is white on the interior so it manages to look bigger than it actually is. it feels clean, it feels airy, suddenly you feel like your day wasn’t so bad after all, and if you’re one of the smart ones who schedule your lunch later, you perk up because there are only a few more hours after lunch of work left. they have a vast array of fancy soda/water/juice drinks that include my all time favorite lunch treat – limonata pellegrino. there are pastries(if you come for early lunch) and treats(cookies!!!) and there are sandwiches. oh, i can’t begin to describe the sandwiches, only the absolute paralyzing indecision that came with viewing the menu. because literally? everything sounds amazing. i have so far had their seasonal blt(only during the summer and they use AMAZINGTOMATOES) and their meatloaf sandwich, which is always on the menu. there are so many more things on the menu i have yet to try, but oh yes, it is worth the money(not cheap) and it is worth the calories(not healthy). get ye to the cube if you’re in the area for a nice lunch and eat outside for pete’s sake, before the winter comes!
