I have my own DSLR camera with a set of decent lenses and I happen to think I’m an okay amateur photographer. I also take a lot of pictures of my kids and a lot of them turn out pretty nice. So why would I need someone else to take pictures of my kids for me? Well, what Ken gave us was far more than just some nice pictures of our kids(they were gorgeous!), but he got to know us, our kids, and our life so he could capture a moment in time for us that we can re-live every time we look up at those pictures. It started with a consultation where Ken learned more about our family and guided us through the process of setting up a photo session. Every detail such as the foods my kids ate, what they loved to do, where they played, was input into the photo session design process. Ken suggested objects to help set the scene, clothes to wear, and most importantly, strategies to help get my kids to cooperate! Once it was planned out, the actual photo session itself was rather straightforward. Ken’s approach was more observational rather than directional and that created more natural and spontaneous pictures that can help tell a story. Our next session was to review the images and make final selections. Using pictures of the actual location in our home where we were going to place the pictures, Ken guided us through the process of designing our layout and selecting images that best complemented the location. The final meeting was the installation of the picture in our home. Ken personally oversaw the professional and precision setup of our pictures as we had designed in the final session. It was definitely a process to get this all done, but in the end, we don’t just have beautiful pictures, we have an honest and memorable moment in time for our family that we can cherish for a long time.
