What is wrong with this place? So disorganized and understaffed 1 cook, and waitress. I was there Wednesday morning for breakfast it took a long time for my food because of the short staff and they forgot cheese on the breakfast sandwich. I didn’t get my coffee till almost when got the food. This place is a joke, this place should not open for breakfast if they can’t handle it and have not enough staff might as well don’t serve breakfast. People don’t come to this place for breakfast is a complete disaster. What great management?!

As a linguistics major in undergrad, Basque was torture. It has no historical connection to any known language past or present, meaning understanding its phonological, morphological and syntactic structures is an absolute nightmare if you don’t speak it. You can’t relate it to anything. I cursed every time a line of Basque appeared on a test, project or exam. Thankfully, Basque cuisine is a lot easier to swallow(alert: food-linguistics pun). And Dulce Hogar makes it pretty sweet, to boot. The homemade Hazelnut and Coffee gelatos are creamy, rich and flavorful, and the perennial San Marco cake is a delicious exercise moistness and cream. And the Morir Sonando is the perfect way to cool down on a hot day. For the savory-minded, try the Iberian Burger, which is very well done. I came here on a weeknight during the first month of their opening and didn’t experience any of the service difficulties others have complained about. From what I can see, it might be hit or miss depending on when you come, but the fact that I had a pleasant time should(hopefully) indicate that it is possible to get good service here.

My husband and I visited this place today for a late breakfast and it was amazing! This is the best breakfast I have had in the United States after visiting LA and Las Vegas. The toast is to die for and the eggs and bacon were cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is lovely and relaxing and the décor is great!

I wrote the first review for this place when they just opened; I met the owner, he was nice, therefore, I thought to give it a chance even though the service was terrible. Have been there 4 more times because I live nearby, just expecting the service to get better and cannot say it did. THEWORSTSERVICEEVER! It is terrible, even when they only have a couple of tables they make you wait for ever, even for tap water; now imagine asking for an orange juice, a fork, and the tab. The food is not good at all. I asked 5 times for my orange juice never got it and was charged for it. First time I tipped $ 0. Never coming back again. Please don’t even try it.

I’m not sure how long this place has been open… but I will definitely not go there again. Considering that around this place there are other restaurants with better service, I was expecting something… better then what i received. It would seem like they have a lot of variety of spanish dishes… but no.

I loved the space but the too-laid back service and hospitality mishaps like spelling spagHetti wrong are the classic markers of not-long-for-this-world-ness. They sure don’t make it feel like«Home Sweet Home», kinda ignoring you when you walk in with a clear eye on the baked goods display rather than a table. Went with the $ 2.50 torrija, which heated up would be immensely satisfying drunk food if you’re into that sort of thing(«an old sweet, a poor-man’s treat, a kind of Spanish French toast with roots in the Spanish Civil War. „All the mothers and little grannies were making it as a way to use up the old bread,“ says Gonzalo Cabrera, general manager at the new Spanish bakery and café that opened in Soho in late March.»)

Stopped by for late lunch and ended up ordering from brunch menu. Ordered Del Sur, which came with this cold tomato sauce that was delicious. Friendly staff and friendly to kids as well. My daughter enjoyed their mango gelato and lemonade. At the end we finished with a warm chocolate cookie that won my kiddo’s heart. :)

You can imagine how disappointed we were to come back here and have one of the worst prepared brunches ever. On our first trip, we saw wonderful and unique dishes being served all around us. This time, I could make the entire menu in about 10 minutes. Because of the limited menu, my wife got eggs and toast… A small pile of scrambled eggs and a piece of toast came out. She wasn’t presented with options for cooking her eggs and we had to ask about the toast. No garnish, sides, and nothing special in the least. I ordered something that I was hoping would be a bit unique — Del Sur. It came out as a piece of toasted ciabatta, smothered in olive oil, with some ham on it. On the side was a little cup of tomato mix. Again, that was it. No garnish, no side, and nothing special. More like a greasy bruschetta. In addition to the poor food, the entire staff seemed new. Half were being trained while we were there. Tables and seats weren’t cleaned off and we didn’t see anyone from the staff caring. After spending $ 40 on what could have been prepared at home for $ 4 in a few minutes, we won’t be visiting this place again. I hope they get back to what looked so good the last time we were here, but it looks as though they’ll be lucky to last long enough.

The food here looks like it was prepared with love and pride. I enjoyed everything we ate for breakfast. My husband said it was the best quiche he’s ever had. The orange juice was really delicious, as other reviews have noted. Our first server was a bit forgetful, maybe he was new? Didn’t refill water, forgot something we ordered, didn’t bring milk for the tea, stuff like that. Not that the service was offputting, just not very polished for the price you’re paying.

One of my worst lunch experiences. Slow service, not inspired food, incredibly small portions. We had the ham/cheese croissant and baguette with Serrano. There is so much to choose from, better think twice if you are looking for a lunch spot.

This place is really a not-so-hidden gem. Love the idea of a Spanish style breakfast in place of the usual options. There are few things I like more than Serrano ham and Manchego cheese, so when you combine this with a tomato jam and douse if in butter for an AM grilled cheese, you have won me over. The bombon café was good too though next time I’ll dial down the richness and skip the dulce de leche. Such a cool atmosphere as well

The food here is very tasty and I like the inventive burger recipes. Try the one with green apple and bacon, it’s quite good. My companions enjoyed their burgers as well. And the mango shake — heaven! So why 3 stars? Because the two times I’ve been here they have messed up our orders big time. First excursion my companion asked for some ingredient to be left off due to allergies. The burger came with it on there and we had to wait for it to be remade. Mistakes happen, so I decided to give the place another try. Brought a big group. We ordered two of our burgers well done and all of our fries extra crispy. The«well done» burgers had way too much pink and the medium well burgers had almost no pink and none of the fries could be called crispy. They fixed the well done burgers again and were very nice about it, but how do you mess up that much of an order when the place is slow and no one is making esoteric demands? If not for this, the place would get 4 stars easy.

I want to give this place a break because they are new and the people are nice. But they are trying too hard to cover too much ground. It’s even obvious in the name — Do they really need that many words in their name? Here are the good parts: — Nice interior — Good pastries — Great orange juice that they bring to you in under a minute, lest it lose any vitamins — Fries with eggs. Delicious. And here are the not so good: — Menu is overwhelming, confusing and badly laid out(why are the fries with eggs not part of the breakfast, and classified as a snack?) — Everything has ham in it, few options for vegetarians — Bad quality bread — Slow service They need to simplify the menu, and try to specialize in a few good things, whilst also keeping a couple standard breakfast items. They also need to put their pastries and ice creams on the menu.

Sunday breakfast here, nice atmosphere, the front of the café opens onto the street. Great selection of Basque /Spanish breakfast sandwich options and baked goods. I had the iberico which I thought would come on a roll but was more like a toasted andwich, it was delicious but a little thin on the jamon iberico and did not feel substantial enough. Never mind I finished breakfast off with another cup of coffee and a Santiago almond cake, very almondy and moist. Service was OK for me, but other patrons seemed to have a more chaotic experience.

First, the interior of this place is amazing! The moment you walk in, and… just… WOW. The front has a cozy little area(blankets included!) which is separated from the main seated area by a long wooden carpenter’s table — a special homey touch that belongs to the owner’s grandfather. There’s also a wall garden and a screen… if you go in the morning, you’ll be able to see all the action going on in the kitchen right from the screen! At the back, they have a giant wall with chalk provided so people can write little notes and«I was here» messages. As for the food, they offer both sweet and savory treats as well as gelato. I tried the Dark Forest, which is very rich. Great for anyone with a sweet tooth! They also have a variety of meals and appetizers to share — burgers, guacamole, etc. Of course they are a café, so they make a lot of coffee! You can get specially flavored coffee so it tastes like a donut… or muffin… Haven’t tried that yet but it sounds interesting! However, the hot chocolate is a musttttt. It’s Spanish style hot chocolate so it’s very thick — definitely different than anything I’ve ever had(almost like pudding!). Whatever you do, you have to try it at least once. You won’t regret it. All in all, I really like this place. It’s new so it wasn’t crazy crowded when I went, but the people who work there are suuuuuper friendly, funny, down-to-earth people who actually interact with their customers! It’s location in SoHo isn’t ideal for me to be a daily regular but I know I will be making every excuse I can to visit again.

This place has one of the best gelato I’ve had in nyc. Also great to have always amazing Spanish ham somewhere. Service is great– the whole staff is very friendly. I wish I could try the burger with Spanish ham but didn’t come here for a big meal. Very nice décor as well. It kind of feels like a coffee shop but you can eat a meal there(which confused me a lot at first). In any case, if you want Spanish food that isn’t at yet another expensive and potentially underwhelming tapas place, I highly recommend this.

Spanish café. Large desserts and pastries. Unique coffees. Nothing like it on W Broadway. The Iberian Burger was cooked perfect and they didn’t go cheap on the jamon. Sampled the hazelnut gelato. I might start eating hazelnut gelato now. Great place to bring a date.
