With little expectation, we came to this non-descript yet impeccably clean café hidden on a quiet floor in our hotel. It was 11:00am and my 5 year old son who only likes breakfast foods was starting to run out of options in town as most places we like we’re starting lunch service. Immediately we were seated and given coffee and juice. The choices were $ 19.99 for a continental buffet, $ 30+ for a hot buffet and a la carte options. My husband and I went for the continental buffet while the hostess explained my son would dine free if we opted for the buffet. My son, the picky eater he is, decided he wanted pancakes and didn’t see any on the buffet. His pouting began. Shortly thereafter, a very lovely woman who was clearly a manager of some sort started conversing with my little boy. Once she learned what he was eating vs what he wanted to eat, she took him by the hand and brought him over right to the head chef. She let him order pancakes just the way he likes them(chocolate chips, whipped cream on the side) after first checking with me on any allergies(wow) and then proceeded to sit with him near the kitchen asking how he was enjoying his trip so far and making him feel super special. Once his breakfast came out, to my son’s delight, they were Mickey Mouse shaped and came with a HUGE bowl of whipped cream just for him! He then happily proclaimed it was the best breakfast he ever had. All the«grown up» food was fresh and clean. Tazo tea, croissant, fruit, it was perfect. When it was time for the breakfast buffet to close, our server made sure we got everything we wanted before they started wrapping up, which was appreciated. After settling the bill, we asked to speak with Hilda to thank her again for her hospitality. Turns out, she’s not a restaurant supervisor but rather the GM of the Doubletree Hotel! This woman took time from her busy day to make rounds at the restaurant and make sure all her guests, big and small, were happy. She made my son feel special. Class act and she clearly trains her staff well as everyone we have encountered here at the hotel and restaurant have been top notch. Thank you Hilda and staff! Best, Jamie E.

Although pricey the breakfast buffet here was good. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, and omelets made to order. Service was good. The variety included and not limited to fried rice, spring rolls, fruits, pastries, bacon, sausage, corn beef hash and assortment of other items.

When the price is high and food is basic sometimes service is everything. Service here was weak. Empty and we waited 10 mins to be seated. Manager opened the door to his office by host stand and talked on the phone most of the time while we waited to be seated. Took an extra 5 mins to get menus. Food was

I probably should give it a 1 but I’m feeling generous … I had vegetable dumplings, Cantonese shrimp wonton soup and Szechuan dumplings … Everything tasted terrible. The soup broth had an old kitchen stench to it. There was soooo much noodle and like half a pint of soup and it just didn’t work for me. I also asked for hot chili oil on the side and they did not accommodate that… Which made it worse because the chili oil would have saved these terrible tasting dishes. So disappointed. Should have known than to order from a place in midtown with a handful or reviews and mediocre ones at that… Lesson.learned.

It only exists because Doubletree guests get a free breakfast buffet. But it really was pretty standard hotel breakfast fare, and would not ever be worth paying $ 30 a head for.

Stayed at the Doubletree for a weekend and ate at Ginger’s three times — once for lunch and twice for breakfast. We decided to eat lunch here as our room was not ready and we were hungry and travel weary. Seemed like a good bet. Decent size menu and the prices for lunch were not too extravagant. We were the only people in the restaurant and the service was terrible. It took forever for our server to get us drinks, take our order, refill the glasses, etc. She spent most of her time chatting or trying to get the TV to work. The only reason we hit up the breakfast buffet was because it was complimentary. Otherwise, there is no way I would have paid $ 30 for the $ 6 worth of breakfast I consumed. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else in NYC. This place isn’t worth it.

Kind of expensive for what is it so one less star. the food/buffet is good, service is also good. freshly made eggs/omelet to order. Corn beef is the way I love it — finely chopped. House potatoes were great as well.

It’ll do in a pinch or if you just want to avoid the masses of TS. 3 courses for dinner, party of 3, with tip, is easily $ 200. A(much!) better meal at Keen’s will set you back the same. Not busy, ergo under-staffed, ergo schlowwww. Food is just okay though. $ 30 for breakfast chases off the evening customer. They fail to see that they’re competing with world-class NYC cuisine for dinner. They are also handling room service requests simultaneously, with the same staff(between watching TV with you in the dining room, of course).

Ginger’s is a restaurant located in the DoubleTree Hotel Times Square. Hilton Gold members are treated to a complimentary breakfast buffet here, which would otherwise cost you about $ 30. It is your basic selection for a breakfast buffet which includes all the breakfast meats like bacon, sausage, and… gasp… corn beef hash. There is even an omelette-made-to-order area. There are no other frills unless you count fruits, bagels and cereals as one. Benny was my primary server and he is my primary reason for giving this place a +1 star. Otherwise, this place is pretty pricey with a basic food-fare. I asked Benny’s advice for some NY stuff and he didn’t know. 10 minutes later, he would have asked all the employees around and came back with an answer. 4 stars for great, friendly customer service.

I know there aren’t too many reviews for this place, but I quite liked what I had here. I had the salmon and my boyfriend had the burger. Additionally for the appetizer, we had the shrimp. I loveddd everything I had here! I actually had veryyy low expectations of the food quality here but I loved every bit of it :) Very pleased when I left. The only thing I didn’t like was that the service was incredibly slow. It took them FOREVER to give us bread in the beginning and there were probably only 3 other tables there… Overall, I would give the restaurant probably a 4 – 4.5 star, but because I liked the food, I will be nice :)

The main benefit of this restaurant is its location. Amidst all the chaos of Times Square this restaurant, on the 4th floor of the Doubletree is a bit of a peaceful oassis. As long as your vision of an oasis is that of someone finding relief from the dessert– i.e. your standard is survival not great food. And that’s what you shoudl expect here. The restaurant was deathly quiet on a Monday evening even as the crowds teemed in times square and even TGI Friday’s was busy. The food was the stuff that an Olive Garden might put out. Nothing exciting. Nothing bad, but nothing memorable either. So a good option if you need a place to fuel up– not to dine. My fixed priced menu was fine. A run of the mill house salad followed by pasta primavera. So if you seek a dining experience, keep on looking. But peace among the chaos is worth something. Would I bring a foodie friend here? Never. But to meet people and get decent eats for an okay price, why not. Oh, don’t eat here for breakfast. It only exists to serve hotel guests and so you get what you’d expect. But it’s not fair to judge them on their hotel oriented breakfast buffet.

2.5 stars. The quality of the food is adequate but uninspired, and with the sticker shock on the breakfast, you better have someone ready to give you the Heimlich maneuver. I gave them the nudge to 3 stars only because the staff was accommodating. Seriously…you can do so very much better in this City.
